Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

This ending will be fitting for his show counterpart. In the tourney, he attacked Daemon from the back when Daemon wasn't looking, that alone showed his real nature.
He then preceded to not properly train Rhaenyra's children. What did Harwin Strong say "This is what you teach Cole? Cruelty " and Crispin said something about there are no rules in a real war. Welp, that bit him right in the ass.
Crispin wasn't no way near being an honorable knight and he didn't deserve an honorable death.
Man I keep telling ppl and I seem like the only one that says that Cole Stunk Daemon lol he lost head up but when daemon started gloating then he clipped him but he didn’t win forreal
Riverlords: "If we do it your way, kingmaker, you'd win. We're not doing it your way."
😂😂😂😂 I thought about that line too.
Aemond Targaryen is the Blacks' MVP.
He has done more harm to the Greens than the Blacks themselves 😂
I still think Cole killing the small council member was one of the dumbest things he couldve done, and he did pay for his arrogance....eventually.
Well it was but to ensure full compliance with the greens they need everyone on the same page. One member say no a killing would change everyone mind quick.

I love the dance because it shows both sides were capable of committing atrocities and has blurred lines of which side was properly in the right.
The butchers ball is a great example is this, Cole tried to save his men by surrendering then when it was refused offered a 3 on 1 combat before being shot to death under a peace banner, an actual war crime. All this coming from the side that is more often considered being in the right of it.
It’s a complex and messy story and I’m still so happy they chose it as the first spinoff show. It’s a good one to bounce back from after that catastrophic s7-8
You're not wrong . But it's also fair to point out he bared steel first. Can't really ask for truce after . You can't say the butcher's ball was dishonorable imo
Cole at this point had committed many atrocities, had his own share of war crimes. This wasn't even a war crime, but justice. And the Blacks were in the right of it, since Rhaenryra was the ACTUAL HEIR to the throne. It's not that complex.
@@Ares99999 nah it definitely was a war crime & rhaenyra & them were on the wrong side actually

A lot of people will cheer when this episode airs!!!
"when steel is drawn there is no such thing as a fair fight" you said it yourself sir criston
If they agree for a duel Cole had no chance. He may have killed Garibald. But the Lionslayer and Roddy was tough. Cole was not familiar with Northern Axe fighting. It will open his stomach.
Roddy the Ruin took out the most experienced knight from old town and Ormund Hightower in a 2 vs 1 while losing his shield arm…. Criston Cole was most certainly not just about to walk through Roddy the Ruin
Did Cole have a chance? Absolutely. He is probably the finest Knight of this era. However, this was not going to be an easy battle for him by any means.@@PEDOGAYMONTARGARYEN
@@wayne47able No. He had no chance at all. Roddy the Ruin was there. He'd haver gone down very easily to him. And if he was the finest knight of that era, then that era was very poor.
@@Ares99999 In the books Cole is defined as the greatest Knight of that period. He defeated Daemon twice, he defeated Harwin strong shattering both his elbow and collar bone, He beat Both of the Cargyll twins, Lyman Mallister, and a few others. Cole was a twat no doubt but the man could fight his ass off
Then why did they refuse?
Their decline is similar to Robb decline to duel Jaime. "If we do it your way, you'd win. We're not doing it your way."
They must've known their chance were slim, so they ordered the archers.

The Ballad of Brave Ser Criston:
🎶Ser Criston bravely rode alone. To protect the king they would dethrone. The Rainbow banner flown on high, he showed the wisdom of the crone!
Treason! The coward's arrows flew and then struck home. Treachery! With his final act how bright he shone. Betrayal! How will these traitors ever atone?🎶
He kinda set off the whole Dance of The Dragons much like Littlefinger did with the Game of Thrones 200 years later.
For as much of a dick as Cole is the dude could was a monster with a sword in hand. The North/Riverlands got 3 of some of their most legendary fighters of the era and Cole offers them a 3v1 but they like "yeah we might get our asses handed to us so we good on that."💀
Cole and his soldiers were a lost cause. Why would they give him an opportunity to get away when they already have him in hands?? It was Cole who said that there was no fair fight in war, this is fitting for him.
Cole had no chance against Lionslayer and Roddy . He would've d*ed regardless. The way i see it, they viewed him as a dishonorable man (he was) so they didn't want to grant him the death of a fighter.
I may be wrong but i think thats the reasoning behind that decision . He was a good fighter but a terrible person who thrived on hatred and murder. He deserved that
Excuses….
They fought every other mf they thought was dishonorable.
Criston would of murked all 3 of them

Probably one of the dumbest battles of the war on either side. Cole's force is about half the size of the Riverlords and largely made up of Crownlanders; he offers to surrender, which would give the Blacks the opportunity to take a valuable prisoner in Criston Cole and either execute him as a traitor in KL, or try to ransom him. A lot of the Crownlanders in his army had probably already changed sides once, and would have swelled the size of Rhaenyra's forces. Instead they choose to fight an unnecessary battle and incur more casualties for no other reason than their commanders are bloodthirsty.
Then we've got Criston Cole deciding to march from Harrenhal and through the Reach in order to get to Ormund's army, when he could have marched west and sought the aid of the Lannisters, or at least entered the Reach from the north.
This battle actually reminds me of Dracula's campaign against the ottomans, the guerrilla tactics, scorched earth, the amount of brutality and so on. I think this massacre was a message to all the queen's enemies: there will be no mercy for traitors. Fear is a effective tool too. Numbers are not everything.
@@pinkdouche "Numbers are not everything" They are in fact EVERYTHING when you're in a Medieval setting with low population growth and greater susceptibility to disease than present day. Though a lot of people are saying Cole got what he deserved, the Green Lords’ still violate a flag of truce and honorable combat by killing Cole with arrows. Moreover he did try and save his men’s lives.
Aemon one eye at this point was already burning villages and lords castles with Vhagar. Cristin Cole also drew his sword first thus he broke the peace banner.
@@tomflynn54 Ser Criston likely figured out they didn't intend to negotiate, rather to gloat and he chose to die with his boots on, Riverlords already prepared best archers to keep eye on Kingmaker so they were already breaking negotiation norms.
