- The Dance Of The Dragon's saw many battle big and small, and while the battle on the honeywine is a smaller one, the impact of it's outcome certainly changed the course of the outcome of the war in a huge way. House Hightower we're matching to King's Landing to support King Aegon ii, when they were ambushed by forces loyal to Queen Rhaenyra, without the support of the king's youngest brother Prince Daeron The Daring upon his dragon, the Hightower host would have never made it across the reach.

Daeron the daring can’t wait to see him on screen
This battle highlights one of the wisest decisions Aegon the conqueror did. By elevating the Tyrells he ensured that the arguably strongest region in Westeros would be fragmented between houses that had better links to the Gardners. For basically every war after the conquest major houses in the Reach would take different sides. A notable exception was Roberts rebellion where the reach’s entire massive army and the Redwyne just sat around in the siege of Storms End after their victory at Ashford.
Probably a quarter of the royalist army at the Trident was men from the Reach, George just never said which Houses were there.
It's kind of strange how long it took Oldtown to rally, isn't it? You would think Otto would have them at the ready.
Otto wasn’t the lord of Oldtown, and neither were the Greens unopposed in the Reach. And feudal levies are rarely “at the ready” - that’s what men-at-arms are for.
He pretty much stated why in the video. It takes time. Peasantry soldiers need to be rallied, supply lines need to be establish, all these things take time.
You know what they say about Ormund’s son and Ormund’s comely second wife…
The great green army of the South. Cole and Aemond really should have regrouped with them like Criston wanted to do.
Ong imagine if all 3 of Viserys’ sons regrouped with their Dragons. That shouldve been a main priority bc they would be unstoppable
@@mansoorahmed1676Oh yeah no doubt. But if Aemond had remained patient and marched south along with Cole instead of attacking the Riverlands, they could have joined forces with Ormund and Daeron and captured the capital with ease. The city was already in a state of rebellion against Rhaenyra, fearing the Southern army.

Loving the artwork your using for your new videos

Am I the only one that think is very unlikely that that the reach house like the Rowan's and tarly would support rhaenyra over the hightower?
After all the hightowers are the most powerful and wealthy house in the reach and definitely have more familiar connection to those houses then rhaenyra and Daemon who lived on the isolated dragon stone most of the time
You're right, but you should keep in mind that there may be rivalries between those houses. As you said, the Hightower house is powerful and their defeat could be an opportunity for their neighbors. If the Tyrells and several of their vassals did not support the Hightowers, it is because they did not have great affection for them. I have a theory that the Hightower house will want to overthrow the Tyrell, just as they overthrew the Gardener.
All the lords made vows to defend rheanyra’s queenship. Some houses are truer than others.
House Tarly has been a staunch supporter of the Targaryens, so of course they would side with the Blacks since Rheanyra was the true heir
@@marielalara1202 house tarly were supporting the strongs not the targaryens
@@debamlyabanerjee4067everyone knows that is green slander😊
I hope house of the dragon shows all the battles
I like to think that while daeron was squiring at Old Town tessarion was roosting within that black stone used for the high towers foundation.
The Battle of the Honeywine is the greatest battle in Reach in Dance of Dragons maybe whole war because if blacks would have won the battle they would control of the Reach also win far more easier and Rhaenyra would come unquestioning Queen of 7 Kingdom.
Even if they had won the battle, the Rowan and their allies would have had no way of breaching the walls of Oldtown or reaching the Hightower.
@@alessiodandolo1460 but still could control most of Reach
We’re not sure if this is in season 2 but I hope it is
Looks like they are gonna save it for season 3
The blacks really missed an opportunity here. If they had sent Daemon or one of the dragonseeds it could’ve devastated a large chunk of the Green reach army and emboldened the Black supporting Reachlords. Understandable though due to slow news and the blacks reeling after losing two Dragon riders.
I think Tessarion might have had a chance against Caraxes or Sheepstealer. After all, the Blue Queen managed to kill Vermithor and survive the fight. If they had sent Hugh Hammer or Ulf the White south earlier, the Hightowers would have had two or even three dragons a little earlier in the war.
@@alessiodandolo1460 really tessarion just blitzed Vermithor while he was locked in combat with Seasmoke. If he hadnt had his jaws and claws occupied she would’ve been dead. And she still didn’t survive the combat-her injuries would’ve been fatal.
@@kevinneutzling8267 No one knows what exactly happened during the fight: what is certain is that Vermithor would have survived without Tessarion's intervention. Were Tessarion's wounds fatal? Maybe, but not necessarily. She survived the fight all day that followed without managing to fly away, before being finished off, but there is nothing to say that she would not have survived. Sunfyre remained immobilized for weeks after his fight at Rook's Rest, before managing to fly away again. I maintain that with luck she might have had a chance against Caraxes, especially since the Hightowers were probably prepared to face the dragons.
Where did you get the map you use for all these videos??
Having the prince in old town was wise had he been in king’s landing he might of been killed or held hostage if the blacks took kings landing.
Any news or at least some rumor about who Daeron could be?
it's speculated that he will be played by Jack Cunningham-Nuttall
probably Jack Cunningham-Nuttall
Daeron = Targaryen Robb Stark. Absolutely love him
Daeron 1 is more like Rob stark they even have similar titles.
@@thatoneblackdude3333pretty similar ends as well
@@MrJTH1999 yea daeron 1 is literally Rob if he was a targaryen, went to war at a young age , wins every battle he fought , died and lost the war due to trickery and dishonorable tactics.

An honour! @World of Westeros

Blacks are winning in Riverlands while losing in Reach. But the last decisive battle Second Battle at Tumbleton gave blacks the upper hand. After this dance had ended. Army will decide things. In that scenario Greens are powerless than blacks
Down with the greenssssss!!!!!!!!!
