  • A quick tour of the legendary Snow's Barbecue in Lexington, Texas. Snow's is only open one day a week on Saturdays and by the time we arrived at 7:30am the line was already half an hour long. The lady in Red is Tootsie Tomanetz (Ms. Tootsie) a legendary Texas Pit Master. Snows Barbecue was rated the #1 BBQ in Texas by Texas Monthly Magizine in 2008 and has also been inducted into the Barbecue Hall Of Fame. Tootsie was also nominated for the James Beard Best Chef of the Southwest Award.

I went to snows in 2011 before they really blew up. My cousin and I had ribs brisket maybe some sausage. The woman behind the counter asked if I wanted to try the pork steak, which looked dry and crusty, but I figured why not. Let me tell you, that pork steak was the sleeper hit and 12 years later I still dream about it! That pork steak was out of this world! It was soft on the inside and the flavor was explosively delicious!!

Ha ha! I grew up in New York City and what I thought was barbecue became complete and utter garbage, until I had my first bite of Texas barbecue in 2004 when I visited Texas for the first time. It was truly life-changing!
