I genuinely thought the thumbnail was Steve-O. Mop sauce lookin bangin though
Haha I can’t unsee it now
Rodney Scott's mop sauce is in his book
I am looking forward to trying this! Thank you.
Mopping BBQ is a forgotten art. Defiantly under utilized. Nice job!
Yes! Thank you!
These look great, now i have to look for these kind off beef ribs here in France
Can’t go wrong with a stick burner! Ate at Scott’s in Hemingway, SC and bought some mopping sauce- Amazing!!
Rub sauce simply look delicious. Thanks for sharing 😊
glad you enjoyed
Looks like a great mop. I combine white grape juice, cayenne pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. I love it.
Amazing
Hey @blink555 what type of meat do you use your mop on? TIA
@@robertash3953 I use it on pork
Ok, having grown up in Hemingway SC myself I can say the reason Rodney doesn't share his recipe is because none of us from the Hemingway area really share our secret recipe with anyone except family members. That just how we are it's a family thing and it's personal. Now, having said that, I have shared my own recipe and it's a mop sauce as well.
Rodney is, well he's hit the bigtime and God best him his success, but he ain't gonna share his sauce secret. His daddy came up with that and there it is.
However, your mope sauce looks mighty good.
Thanks!
Im just watching all your videos to soak in all your knowledge while i am waiting for my kamado grill to come through. thank you
enjoy the new grill!
Buy Rodneys book you get his recipe. I used first time last week on rib and they were so gooood
Thanks
cheers
I'm happy for you
Full beef ribs at Costco ... what?? I've got to talk to the butcher at my local Costco about this...
Amazing cook....nice shirt.
thanks!
Great video - my beef rub is similar to yours. I model my mop sauce off of yours - like better then Rodney's - and I met him last month. Great BBQ
Looks great but is it not 756 ml and not 156 ml crushed or in this case pure tomato?
Looks amazing! The mop sauce sounds delicious…gonna give it a try on the next cook. Have you ever used fish sauce in any of your mops? It adds an extra kick of umami and depth of flavor when I use it in my mop sauces.
Not yet! Good idea. Will try
Pretty sure worschestire sauce has fish sauce in it
Perfect smoke ring, looks great! What temperature do you finish at? You started moping at mid 160's but didn't say what the target end temp was.
Probe tender. Was about 197
I have been mopping pork BBQ, but not beef. I want to give this a go. Looks delicious. In the video, you have used canned tomato whereas on the recipe under the description you have listed tomato paste. Which ultimately was your preference?
It was paste. I meant to say crushed which is what I used
Making these beef ribs today! Is it 1 cup or 1 tablespoon of brown sugar?
Beef ribs are the best! 😁
100%
Looks amazing! Would this mop sauce work with smoked chicken as well?
I think this might be a little too much in something milder like chicken
$50 Canadian for both of those 4-bones?! Our Costco here in Oklahoma City needs to catch up!
James try using a shot or 2 of crown royal instead of sugar
Beautiful ribs. I gotta try this. How many times did you end up mopping??
Hi, just to clarify, the recipe listed in the video calls for - 1 can tomato paste (156ml) but in the video, you seem to be using crushed tomatoes. Thanks
The can said crushed which is paste
@@SmokingDadBBQ Thank you!
Can you comment on if you would recommend using a mop sauce on brisket? I’ve seen you do it on the Akron, but would you do it on a KJ? Thanks!
Depends on the flavour you want. For Texas style no, but if I am doing sandwiches I like it as you can add more flavour
@@SmokingDadBBQ makes perfect sense, thanks!
I wish I could find ribs like that at my Costco. I can only find the ones with hardly any meat.
Have you tried the M.O.P. sauce recipe from Rodney’s cookbook? If so was it close to what you remember? I thought it was really good. Used it and his rub on some ribs. They were great
I love his more on pork but this slightly meatier taste on beef
@@SmokingDadBBQ ah must have misunderstood or assumed when you said that to were trying to recreate it, that you weren’t referring to that. Also are the beef ribs new for your Costco? Mine hasn’t had them for over a year. But maybe they are back in the supply
Chain now.
Great timing James my man.
I was planning on doing a large pork shoulder on the long weekend and wanted to try using a mop sauce, I'll try your recipe.
I have never seen dyno ribs at Costco before, when did you buy them?
For your sauce, did you mean pureed tomatoes or tomato paste? they are very different.
St CATHERINES business centre Costco
And the can said crushed and was a paste
Yeah- ours in central Florida doesn’t carry the short ribs either 😭
Gonna use this on my next pulled pork! Thanks
enjoy!
That's a lot of Worcestershire sauce
is it $50 for the two sections of ribs at Costco? or $50 each?
50 for both. Cad
@@SmokingDadBBQ thank you. im out near Trenton so the closest costco is about an hour drive, i wanna try this on my weber smokefire so i think at that price ill probably give it a go. Thanks for the videos!
@@TannerRE call to make sure they have them first
Just use W sauce. It taste better and you can't mess up the pronunciation 😉
Hahah thanks
We call it Lea & Perrins (the makers) in the UK as we can't pronounce it either 😂
Another great video James 😊
Every time I've tried to dry brine, all I get is "it's too salty" from everyone that eats it. 😞
What kind of smoker is that
Mopping brengservice a whole extra flavour to it
Never seen more juicy ribs
they were so good
Say it like this: Wustersheer sauce.
many mop suce recipes on Chudds BBQ
One of his was in the clips. The one with a butter base and a bottle of beer which I have tried before
I should add my beef tallow mop clip that I showed is basically his main recipe but with butter swapped out for beef tallow as the fat source which I liked better on beef
I had anxiety watching you cut those lemons. claw the piece you are cutting to keep your fingers out of the way. cut a flat spot in the veggie or fruit first so it is less likely to roll around on you. knife may need a sharpening as well.
woost a shur not wooster :)
put a wet towel or paper towel under your cutting board and it wont move when your cutting.
I always forget to bring one out. Thanks
First!!! Finally! Haha :)
