100% agree on keeping the mystery to acquaintances. No reason to expose yourself to others - when they will likely use it against you. And double so with travel plans.
Loose Lips Sink Ships! I have several guys that are in their 60’s working for me and sometimes you’d think you’re back in High School. People love talking about other people and using the grapevine myself as the boss I keep my mouth shut, ignore all the bullshit and it seems to work.
Well said. I let people know things about me only I want them to know. People will talk and make stuff up to see if they can get a rise out of you. I just smile at the talk and then ignore it. If people see if it bothers you, they win, if they see it doesn't, you win.
I've never told anyone my private affairs or information......I'm a great talker, informative and concerned inquisitively about other's situations and problems......many have said "you're very private!1 we never know much about you??" that's the way I am and I like it that way. Good topic. My wife and I limit what we tell people about ourselves. We don't invite people that we don't know well to our home and keep our financial information to ourselves. Living in a single family home in a gated community keeps our conversations private.
Privacy in the Philippines is rare, this is where I lost my cool with them there, gossip is like a sport there no secretes seem to be allowed particularily if you have your wives family living on your property as we do, cannot seem to have a private conversation. So what I do is keep most things to myself and that includes finances, which seems be of interest to everyone.
@@TarikSolimanX Yes Americans gossip but not to the extent I see in the Philippines and that's ok if you allow a husband and wife private conversations. I still love living in the Philippines regardless of certain things bothering me. I also care very much for my wifes family.
Steve, being from New England, I am sure you are familiar with the practice of "ballbusting" which was used as a fun form of building camaraderie. However, in today's society that same practice is being used to tear people down and create maliciousness. What a hell of a world we live in!
It’s a different world now and it’s sad we have to pick and choose so called friends . People now days are so different even being in the Philippines is a challenge. 😊
My neighbors are nosey and they talk to my gf asking questions mostly about money. I tell my gf to shut up and direct them to me. As my col told me " youre on a need to know basis." I never forgot that and use it to this day. Zip it!
I have two thoughts on this issue. I don't go out of my way to share anything but I am an open book. If a person is being abused I would encourage them to open up and let the proper authorities know not to keep it to themselves.
Steve, I would honestly recommend you go back to doing your talks from the bahay kubo outside. When you show video of your home interior, any locals may know where you are, can see your stuff, and see the layout of your home. If general, your finances and resources make you a target in a poor country. So never discuss in puiblic or even around ‘friends’ since they might let slip what they know by accident and bad people may hear. Keep it simple….. yep I am here on a small pension or small SS or dissability pay. But never say how much and try to ‘look simple’ even if you arent living sinmple.

Hi Steve. Great topic. A reminder of these is helpful. Maintaining my privacy is one big reason I’m considering for NOT starting a CZcams channel in the future. Have a good evening.

I gave CZcams 10 seconds of real thought when I came to live in the Philippines. Like you I value my privacy I came to the Philippines to live a stress free peaceful life. I found that if I didn't want to take money out of my savings to do some traveling with my wife then I can always go back and work as a Nurse a few months a year and I do. Then we travel. Keeping up a CZcams channel is more like having to work again everyday coming up with content and editing not my thing.
@@LeonardMarlin Hello. I completely agree. Doing some CZcams videos could be fun. But, I wouldn’t want it to be like a job feeling pressure to record and edit videos 8-12+ hours/day like many CZcamsrs do. Perhaps once you get much more efficient at editing, it could be much less a time commitment, but people I know spend all day editing videos. I think there are more enjoyable ways for me to earn extra income + maintain your privacy. But I will say, many CZcams videos provide a lot of useful information so I appreciate them.

When you crossed over into CZcams land you gave up being a private citizen. You say you are looking to hand over the channel to others but keep your hand still in the game, putting up a video now an then. We do more charity now than before actually. Much is behind the scenes because I don’t like to show giving on CZcams because we make money from the channel.
