The most soulful music was back in the 60's and 70's. That's why it will last forever.
This is a known fact.
No lies detected!
80’s too
It's the Sound of Philadelphia. So many great songs
The O’Jays were a part of the my teen years along with the Main Ingredient (you’d like their song “Everybody Plays the Fool”), The Spinners, The Stylistics, and Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes! You’d love music from all these groups! ❤
The music of my high school dances.
Everybody Plays The Fool is by The Main Ingredient
Exactly it's what we listened to .
I love it when you two discover banging music that the rest of us have been loving for years!
That’s really what it’s all about with reaction channels, isn’t it? 😀
@@Wordsmyth8
That "should be" what it's all about with reaction channels.
Some channels exist purely for the purpose of the reactors seeing themselves on tv.
You'll know them
when you see them.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Use ta Be My Girl" and "For the Love of Money" !!!
For the love of money is my favorite Ojays song
Oh Yeah, "Use ta Be My Girl", one of my all-time favorites of theirs!
You have to see the O’Jays do For the Love of Money at Daryl’s house. It’s fantastic with Daryl and his musicians joining in. 👏👏
My sister's fav line from this song: "Music is the healing force of the world. It's understood by every Man, Woman, Boy and Girl".
Also LOVE TRAIN, BRANDY, I'LL ALWAYS LOVE MY MOMMA, STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN.
@@Lakeshore14
Yes!!
The 70s had great soul groups - The O'Jays, Blue Magic, The Delfonics, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, the Intruders, Earth Wind & Fire, the Commodores, Ohio Players. Many great groups!
The O’jays one of the best R&B groups in an era in the 70’s where to me the greatest R&B groups were coming into their own style producing hit music after hit music making those days, those memories, those times in my life beautiful!
They have a song For The Love of Money that is all base line. Jay, you will love it.
I agree, and it was a great song to dance on in the disco. How time flies. 😄🎶🙋♀️
Said it before and I'll say it again "Give The People What They Want" by these guys is THE song you need to hear. It's your mission statement!
They did this one!
@@NeptuneLady1957 Well shoot. Somehow that got past me 🤨
@@NeptuneLady1957 In that reaction, they asked for a sound clip of that song to use in their intro. I made and sent them one, but they haven't used it.
I bugged them over and over *because* it's their mission statement, and they finally played it.
Music, the universal language of the 🌎 ❤
The O’Jays were the bomb!!! So happy I got to grow up in the 60’s and 70’s. ❤❤❤❤
This is absolutely my favorite O'Jays hit. Music is the healing voice of the world! This is the extended version! This song gets me up and dancing and I'm 71!
I am definitely in agreement as the song says, I LOVE MUSIC!!!
The piano always sounds so rich in their songs. Absolutely blows today's "music" out of the water.
Love the post Motown soul, the Philadelphia sound!
NOT…….DISCO !!
Pure soul, that’s what the fabulous O’Jays are.
WHAT an era.
Follow this classic up with Tavares - 'It Only Takes A Minute' - another stormer that skates the line between Philly Soul and Disco.
49 years later and this song is still 🔥 The musicianship is just incredible!
O'Jay fans love to hear "Cried Together, "You Got Your Hooks in Me", "Stairway to Heaven," and "Living For the Weekend" etc.
I will agree with this statement… love that song. ❤
Brandy is amazing even more so when you realise its about his dog ❤
Oh damn.
Why'd you have to spoil the surprise?!?
I love The O'Jays!!
The O'jays were the best part of my growing up ❤❤❤
The Ojays were regulars on Soul Train (One of my favorite shows). ♥️🙏✝️✌️😎
🇬🇧 The Four Tops "When She Was My Girl" You will absolutely love it, both of you. 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️🎼🎼🎼🎼🎶🎶🎬
This music & all the others during this time kept the people feeling good during the Vietnam War, we always had feel good music that brought us together! 👍👏👏👏👏🤍🤎🖤💛♥️👍🕺🏾💃🕺🏾💃
The war was over when this song was released in 1976.
I love this song ❤
❤❤backstabers ❤❤
Instead of bouncing around on those chairs, it looks like you have quite a bit of room there behind you. Enjoy the moment and kick-up your heels folks!💃
Check out: Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes "Wake Up Everybody". Guaranteed banger. Thank you.
You can't go wrong with the O'Jays. They have TONS of hits.
"Music is the healing force of the world." Such infectious joy. 🌏
The end of the 70s was the gateway to the iconic 80s music! Give it up for the O’Jays! 👏🏽
'BACK STABBERS'
WHAT THEY DO??
Yes the O Jays!!!!!! Awesome! Was on the air waves in 1975, when I graduated high school, and was 18 routy years old!
Another great song by the O'Jays is "Brandy". Thanks Jay and Amber!
My parents had the album with "Brandy" on it when I was young and it's been my favorite song by them ever since.
Totally agree it gets me everytime being a dog lover😢
I lost my “Brandy” a year ago to mouth cancer. She was my ride or die.😢
@stevensheegog3942 sorry for your loss😥
@@stevensheegog3942 I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you and yours🙏🏾
I was 7 when this was released & it always made me want to dance. Every time I hear this song it makes me smile. It touches my soul.
The sound of Philadelphia. Nothing like it 🎶❤
One of the fun songs my friends and I would love dancing to… sweet memories
I'm guessing it's Mister 4 on the floor, Earl Young you're interviewing.
The original drummer of Philly Soul and Philly Disco.
Also, one part of Baker-Harris-Young productions.
The whole album Family Reunion was magic. Two of my favorites were Living For the Weekend and Stairway to Heaven.
❤❤❤ Im a massive rock fan but this and used To Be My Girl are probs in my top 30 of all time.
Spinners, O’Jays, 4 Tops, Isley Bros. Great tunes, great times. Thanks. Prayers for Oklahoma from Colorado. I’m sure this one helps someone.
Love you guys and since you ask for suggestion here's a few songs that usually slide in under the radar but were top 40 hits I know you'll like.
1. Sideshow-by Blue Magic
2.Natural High-by Bloodsport
3.Walking In Rythmn-by The Blackbyrds
4.Storm Warning-by Volcanos
5.Twenty Five Miles-by Edwinn Starr
Love the "sound of Philadelphia".
What a great reaction!!
When it came to giving voice to the social and political state of black America---for forty-something years, Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff kept their fingers on the pulse of black America. Motown Records and Philadelphia International Records were equally essential to the voice of black America being heard on a global stage. Their music was all about bringing people together.
I feel like there's no more of this. We so need it.
It was a big hit at all the discos back in "75"
I'm jumping off topic, but you love Chaka Khan and haven't reacted to Tell Me Something Good?! It's up there with her version of I Feel For You, or even beyond it. It's Chaka Khan and Rufus, and they have some really strong and even humorous vocals on that song. Please, please, please give it a try - it will be one of your all time favorites: funky, funny and unique.
Loved Rufus!!
Long overdue for them to hear Tell Me Something Good. I trust they’ll get to it eventually.
FEMALE FRIDAY
Yes!!!
OMG! I loved this song so much! This was definitely my favorite jam back in the day. Just made me feel so happy!
Rob Squad Reactions, This is so fun! I'm happy I found your channel!
Oh yes, love The O’Jays…love this song!👍👏👏👏♥️♥️
This is definitely my favourite O’Jay’s track because I do love music!❤
So glad you listened to the long version. Some of the best part of those old disco songs were the instrumental breaks. You couldn't help but groove.
My favorite all-time O’Jays song. “Used to Be My Girl” is another I don’t think you guys have done yet.
'Used Ta Be My Girl' is my absolute fave! 🇬🇧 "Shoop-shoop, Shoo-doo"! 🎶🤩
Blue Magic. "Side Show". Incredible falsetto voice and classic. Very much recommended. Also The Tokens " The lion sleeps tonight ". Falsetto for days . both classic iconic songs.
OK! Now we are talking! The Mighty Mighty O'Jays will never fail ya! "For the Love of Money" is a Bass Banger that every Bass Player should know. Or at least hear.
Yeah, Jay would freak to that one. ✌️
@@andymageen5308 Gonna need a lot of thumbs up for him to notice it. I mentioned it several times before but its a big crowd.
Ojays always a good choice
Love the o jays! So many bangers
The Stylistics --People Make the World Go Round
Rob and Amber, "Give The People What They Want" is an O'jays no brainer for your theme song!! 👍🏽😁
Nice! My mom loved the O'Jays
Love this.....yea good driving jam...
Growing up in the 60's 70's was a great time , but even back then i loved my mom's music too , Frank , Ella , Big Band it's all great !
Have you two ever done the Frank S in studio recording It Was A Very Good Year ? It is amazing to watch the master record a great song .
It's black and white from the early 60's ? with a full orchestra just 1 take and it is perfect !
Great song! My favorite by the O’Jays.
Great choice guys! Love some O'Jays! "Put Your Hands Together" is another good song from them. React to more 70's soul music like Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes "If You Don't Know Me By Now" or "Wake Up Everybody". Also Taveras "It Only Takes A Minute". Thanks. 😎
This is the sound of GAMBLE and HUFF…TSOP…The Sound Of Philadelphia…they are behind so many classics…check for HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUENOTES - THE LOVE I LOST, THE THREE DEGREES - WHEN WILL I SEE YOU AGAIN, THE JACKSONS - SHOW YOU THE WAY TO GO, TEDDY PENDERGRASS - TURN OFF THE LIGHTS
From the O'Jays you got to try "Love Train", "Forever Mine" "Back Stabbers" & "Message In Our Music"
A slower yet awesome song by the O'jays is "Brandy". It's not about what most people think it is. I would love for you to react to it and see if you can figure out what it's about.
Ten year old me, my transistor radio tuned into Radio Luxembourg, turned low because it was late on Sunday at night and I should've been asleep for school in the morning...waiting to hear this classic. My introduction to 70s soul. What a blessing. What a song. What a decade for music. God bless all.
The music of my young woman years!!! ❤️
I love the RSR family and music! 🤗
..."Class of 76"...You love music...I love music and the O'Jays love music!
Many consider this song the birth of the house music era. Great song!
Please check out The Main Ingredient "Everybody Plays the Fool" (70's)
hope you are all okay from all thr tornadoes around . we were lucky up here wherev we live in Nebraska. hope you and the babies are all safe. GOOD Bless you alol.......
THE BEST EVER DISCO TRACK !!!!🎉🎉🍾🎉🎉
I'd love you to listen to more Curtis Mayfield... "Pusherman", "Superfly", "Freddie's Dead", "If There's A Hell Below, We're All Going To Go", and so much more
Jay & Amber THANK YOU for doing this song. One of my Favorites! Use ta Be My Girl is one you will LOVE along with the full length version of Family Reunion...Keep up the GREAT WORK and I look forward to your next video!
One of my most favourites too!🇬🇧 but they gotta watch them perform it!
"Shoop-shoop, shoo-doo"! 🎶 🤩
Great song!
The OJ's a must in every collection !!!!
O'Jays were my favorite band in the 70s and i have some decor that say I LOVE MUSIC 🎶 BY THE O'Jays 🎉
My best friend got me hooked on the O'Jays when we were in high school in the 70's. This song brought back a lot of fond memories of us going to the disco, wearing platform shoes and leisure suits. We rocked it. Thanks for posting this.
O'Jay's 'Stairway To Heaven' on Soul Train.
From 1975 this was a number one R&B and number 5 on Billboard pop singles chart other songs from them Use ta be my girl from 1978 and Forever Mine from 1979 keep up the great work guys .
When you said you were looking for a new theme for your channel I suggested this perfectly fitting song.
OJays was my first 8 track tape !!!! Til this day 50 years later I get goosebumps listening to this song❤
Put the top down, turn this up and go. O'jays and Spinners were my groove. Love that you love them.❤
I got to see the O'Jays about 15 years ago In Atlantic City, NJ, as part of a soul music revue that was filmed for the Public Broadcasting System. All the acts were amazing, especially Teddy Pendergrass. It was the best night of live music I've ever experienced.
I love this song! Turn it up, shut the door and dance!
You can never go wrong with The O'Jays.
This song is what it's all about. The love of music.
It’s the 70’s, it’s Friday night and we are all out dancing to this music.
Great Days.
There's a track on the Family Reunion album called Living for the weekend , it describes exactly what you're talking about.
This is a banger from the O’Jays, real music.
You two nailed it! Music brings people together. We're not thinking about differences when we're swaying to the music. I was a small kid when this dropped and music was/is therapy for the soul.
This was fire on the dancefloors!!!! 🔥💃🕺
Yes, this one is perfect for your channel. Give a listen to For The Love Of Money and Backstabbers too.
This song makes me smile.
And for more fabulous 70’s try:
Narada Michael Walden “I Shoulda Loved Ya’!
Stacy Lattisaw “Jump to the Beat”
Wanda Walden “It’s Gone Now” (technically early 80s)
Maybe THE ultimate O'Jays song!! (Or Love Train!)! The Squad is Making Big Time Moves and content!! Love the growth!!
The great times. Here’s a couple of suggestions for the O’jays
For The Love Of Money (1973)
Living For The Weekend (1975
Message In Our Music(1976)
Use To Be My Girl (1978)
Thanks as always Jay and Amber 😊
J's right, music for the soul!
A great song by the O'Jays! I used to JAM! to this song. It's great to hear 70s R&B music with real, actual musicians playing real, actual instruments unlike most of today's R&B and hip hop which is basically a "producer" with a keyboard, and a computer with sampled instruments. The guitar solo is beautiful, almost George Benson-ish.
