I've loved this song since the first time I heard it when it was released in 1982. It has a fantastic arrangement, great singing by Steve Lukather and Bobby Kimball and killer guitar and piano solos, but as a former drummer (current keyboardist), it was the unique, super cool drum beat by Jeff Porcaro (legendary session player) at the beginning that first drew me in. He devised the drum beat by combining 3 different previous famous drum beats from Bernard Purdie, John Bonham and Bo Diddley. Per Wikipedia..." The drum pattern is known as a "half-time shuffle", and shows "definite jazz influence", featuring ghost notes and derived from the combination of the Purdie shuffle, Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham's shuffle on "Fool in the Rain", and the Bo Diddley beat. The Purdie shuffle can be prominently heard on Steely Dan's track "Home at Last" from Aja, which Jeff Porcaro cited as an influence".

"Rosanna" is a song written by David Paich and performed by the American rock band Toto, the opening track and the first single from their 1982 album Toto IV. This song won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year at the 1983 ceremony. "Rosanna" was also nominated for the Song of the Year award. It is regarded for drummer Jeff Porcaro's half-time shuffle, commonly known as the "Rosanna shuffle".
The song reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks, behind "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League and "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor.[4] It was also one of the band's most successful singles in the UK, peaking at No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart and remaining on the chart for eight weeks".

Toto is amazeballs because it was made up of the best session musicians in LA. They've had different singers over the years who came and went and came and went. And Jeff Porcaro --- the most versatile, creative drummer ever, who played on thousands of songs --- sadly passed away too young. But they've been making killer music since the late 70's.
I always recommend this insanely great VERY MUSICAL song that features the hardest drumming you'll ever hear in a pop tune, and more of Steve Lukather's insane guitar prowess.

Peter Gabriel wrote "In Your Eyes", about her, too.
Even Pete Townshend, of The Who, wrote about her, on his solo album.
Please, see her documentary "All We Are Saying". She hung with many rock/music stars (Coachella Festival, for 6 years), and did behind the scenes interviews. They are worth their weight, in gold.
