- Released in 1975 as a single, "That's the Way (I Like It)" achieved significant commercial success. It reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States and also became a chart-topper in several other countries. Its popularity was not limited to the United States; the song became an international hit and a staple in discotheques worldwide. The song is characterized by its infectious disco groove, featuring a driving beat with a prominent bassline, funky guitar riffs, and vibrant horns. The rhythm is designed to get people on the dance floor, and the overall sound reflects the upbeat and celebratory vibe of disco music in the 1970s.
The song is considered one of the quintessential disco tracks, and its success contributed to the rise of KC and the Sunshine Band as a prominent disco act. "That's the Way (I Like It)" remains a symbol of the disco era and is often featured in retrospectives and compilations of 1970s music.
The lyrics of "That's the Way (I Like It)" are simple and repetitive, contributing to the song's accessibility and danceability. The central theme revolves around expressing satisfaction with a romantic relationship. The singer repeatedly affirms that the way things are in the relationship is exactly how they like it. The straightforward and affirmative nature of the lyrics made the song easy for audiences to sing along to and remember. - Zábava

"Get Down Tonight" was their first hit....🙂
Thats one of my favourites .
My favorite!❤
Wasn't it Queen of Clubs 🤔😎👊🏽
And their best song, by far
Bring me back to 1975 when I was 10, had a birthday party in the basement doing the “BUMP “ !!!!❤😂
Feel you! Same age 💃
yes, in college. this song and the bump!
I was a December 1964 baby! So I'm right there with you! We didn't have a basement, but my party's were LEGENDARY! 😂❤✌️
The guys who put the band together were Harry Wayne Casey and Rick Finch. Rick Finch was a bassist/sound engineer who worked for TK Records, a Florida-based record label. KC worked there part time and that’s how they met. They added some musicians and the band was formed. Casey and Finch were the songwriters, and actually wrote songs that were hits for other artists. They wrote the song “Rock Your Baby” by George McCrae, which was one of the huge hits of early disco. The song “I Get Lifted” was originally on a KC & The Sunshine Band album, but McCrae covered that and it’s been sampled plenty of times. They also wrote a lot of things for Jimmy ‘Bo’ Horne. In the 70s they were killing it, but once disco faded their popularity waned. But they do have a lot of really good songs, and they were far more than just a run of the mill disco band.
One of my favorites from them is “ I’m Your Boogie Man”, and the ballad, “ Please, don’t go”….so many great songs! Great music, and great times.
“Get Down Tonight” was their first #1 hit earlier in 1975.
This song is like a perfect amalgamation of soul, disco, and pop. The horns are killer, and somehow the vocals fit in so perfectly that if this came out now you might think AI constructed it. Absolutely made for radio, back when radio still mattered.
“Back when radio still mattered”
You got THAT right.
50 yrs later and we're still groovin to this song! I love it!!!
What a blast from past😂 skating parties, I'm 63 yrs old, man! Memories ❤❤
Oh those were the best. I miss those days.❤
YES! I just saw KC and the Sunshine Band open for the B-52's about a year ago. Still sounds great and the crowd was UP ON THEIR FEET the entire time he was on stage.
So jealous!

At 69 I feel we grew up with some outstanding musicians.
Think it was get down tonight. 😮
Kc and Sunshine band was not just a concert it was an a show. Love this band.
The line "that's the way, uh huh uh huh, I like it" became a thing when this came out. People were saying it everywhere, it was used as a joke punchline all the time, it was huge.
Same with Shake your booty, Get down tonight and I'm your boogie man.
They were massive in the 70's.
I totally love this band and always have. Grew up, listening to them, dancing to them, rollerskating to them and still listen to them today! I also love shake shake shake shake your booty! Get down tonight!!
Im a 70 year Old who used to Roller Skate to this in My Younger Day .
Nobody's talking about the theatrics and fabulous dance moves! The horn section was a blast to watch, and KC had some fancy footwork going on while singing and playing the keys. Great song, great band, great energy - and great reaction!
Grand dad remembers! Love me some DISCO!!! I remember too grand dad!
LOVE KC!!
LOVE KC and the Sunshine Band!!!! Real musicians, real energy, real showmanship and killer, simple grooves. PERFECT!! “I’m Your Boogie Man” next! ❤😊
Listen, I’m from Miami and I grew up during this time KC was everything in Miami back in the day! So of course, I listened to his music all the time growing up my mother was crazy about him, and I freaking love him. By the way, this entire band is nothing short of spectacular, but let’s talk about the horns. These guys in my opinion make the band.
LOVE THE AFROS!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💋💋💋💋💋
I think Get Down Tonight was their first hit back in 1975,
Love KC! Lots of hits from them when I was a kid.
Yayyyyy! Party!!! Time to break out The Bump! “ I’m Your Boogie Man” is also fabulous with the whole Sunshine Band on point with soul!!!! ❤❤❤❤

"I'M YOUR BOOGIE MAN"❤❤❤❤👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I love the sunshine band.
Small miracle you got to do a KC and the Sunshine band song. Very few seem able to do it with the usual reason. Just another era.... and the short-lived disco-era also that still is timeless and their outfits always were colorful with their bells this era.
Luv KC and TSB. Man had a head on collision in 1981 and had to teach himself to walk-dance and play piano again
Look at their outfits. All
Elvis influence. Amazing.
Casey = KC. A janitor at the studio. George McCrae was there to record Rock Your Baby. The manager was mad because the keyboard player didn't show. George said Casey can play it. That's him on George's hit song. That manager went to see Casey's band. The rest is history.
To the older fellow that remembers the song. I'm 64, and love your analysis and you be looking good.
Omg i love Corey's reaction and enjoying the tune. He makes it great
They've cool as f'ing anything - what a horn section, doing the 70s proud!! 👍👍👍
1975... I was only in High School when this song hit the airwaves. If was fire. I heard they are still on tour in 2024.
Either "I'm Your Boogie Man" or "Boogie Shoes" is probably their first number one...they had a few! Great reaction!
My music! ❤
I miss the old days with songs that were fun and represented us not related to gangs and violence.just fun!
“Please don’t go” KC and the Sunshine Band please.
"I'm Your Boogie Man" next please! KC = Harry Wayne Casey. LONG LIVE DISCO!!!
KC is still performing. He’s still tries to generate energy and get people up and dancing. ❤
This son was the TUNE in my Teens.Loved this band.Disco, jazz funk etc, was Colourblind.
I don't care where you are if you play this song along with Brickhouse , September and Stayin Alive and booty of all ages will be shakin on the dance floor.
KC and the Sunshine Band were such a fun group-as fun to watch as to listen to, because they obviously enjoyed what they were doing. Lyrically simple so anyone could sing along while dancing their asses off. And it still gets people moving. An integrated band, a layered sound & cool costumes....some of the best disco out there. Love 'em.
This will always be a favorite rollerskating song by people who hung out at the local rink back in the day.
I saw KC and the Sunshine Band in a club on Beale St in Memphis back in the day.
Not a Autotune in the House .
I loved this in 70s & 80s along several other songs but never saw👀 them til recently thru reactors
First number one. "GET DOWN TONIGHT"
the great MIAMI FUNK Sound of the mid 1970's. Casey was brought up in Hialeah (a NW suburb of downtown Miami) and all the band members were from Miami or Ft Lauderdale
My favourite is their ballad Baby please don't go. In the nineties in disco club dj playied a disco version. I adore this band ❤
One of my first 8 tracks!!! 😊greatest music! So many more great hits! “I’m Your Boogie Man” performance is fire!
They came to Oaklawn Racing and Casino here in Hot Springs not too long ago. I didnt go. I know thier songs but wasntvmotivated to watch them. Somedays its just like that.

I'm your boogie man is my favorite!!
I remember watching "The Jeffersons" when Florence was vacuuming with headphones on, singing...."that's the way I like it..aha, aha."
When George gave her a few quick knocks on the head which disengaged her headphones. She said, "Why, Mr. Jefferson would you want to do a thing like that???" George: "because/THAT'S the way I like it!"
I love the real instruments
Get Down Tonight!!! Boogie Shoes was their best IMO.
Love it! "Boogie Shoes" is another favorite along with "I'm Your Boogie Man". People disliked disco, but I enjoyed it then & still like the hits today.
I still have a T-Shirt I bought at their concert a few years ago. He was older but still HAD IT. My shirt is This song. That's the way I like it! LOL I grew up in Miami, I loved hearing them. I didn't have cable or MTV and certainly NO youtube to actually see them back then.
Get down tonight was their first number one song..
I love you guys. Always open to new experiences in music. Your reactions never fail to bring a smile to my face. Jeep up the giod work, and I'll keep watching.
Love them too. Hope they either jeep it up or keep it up :)
Boogie Shoes and Keep it Coming Love.
The highlight to these videos is the horn section. You should see them bring it during the I’m Your Boogie Man video.
Ok, I can't be the only guy who used to be a solid Rock fan and dismissed Disco as garbage , but secretly admired some of these tunes? C'mon, fess up!
"The George Jefferson but it was permed " down in the back,. made me laugh so hard I was crying when I rewatched this at 5:18.
Love you guys!
That’s the way I like it
It STILL sounds good!!!
I’m Your Boogie Man
You guys have never seen the band?? I used to have pinups of KC’s cuteness all over my bedroom from Teen Beat & Tiger Beat mags…ahh the seventies!
Boogie Shoes is another banger by KC and the Sunshine Band worth checking out!
They were an excellent act live and had some very memorable tunes. KC ended up as a guest judge on the legendary Gong Show. THIS IS IT should react to the electic dance move of Gene Gene the Dancing Machine.
The best and only? crossover band.
Never knew they were from Miami. Makes sense now.
I wanna go bowling!!!!
Super group ❤
Hey guys, if you like this one you will LOVE I’m Your Boogie Man and Boogie Shoes!!
Harry Wayne Casey was a Hialeah Boy in the 305.
Group formed in Hialeah.
Hialeah, best of the 305
The “ Sunshine Horns” need to put out a workout video! 😂
Here’s a great so from back in the day
“ Jungle Boogie “ kool and The Gang 1973 !!!!
And Get Down On It!❤
This was my time and kc had 6 or 7 # 1's in a row!
Queen of clubs was the first.
Do You Wanna Go Party is phenomenal! Extended version is so good. 😊
I remember they were great from the start.
How I miss the 70's and the ladies with the full-on fros.
YESSSSS!!! Energy!!!
YEZZZZZ❤️❤️❤️
... for something a bit different, listen to their earlier hit "Queen of Clubs" from 1974. They were much more "funky" then. Their style changed to a bit more "disco" sounding in 1975.
Man, I wish I still had that style hair. A little long and feathered back.
The hairstyle was called an Afro. Men and women both wore them and many Black performers began to popularize them in the 70's. Some of those Afros were huge! Typically it was a wig (highly stylized) usually worn over a nylon skull cap (actual cut up panty hose were often used!) Different sized wigs were worn depending on preference. They were attached with plenty of bobby pins to the nylon skull cap. Even off stage, everywhere in public the guys wore such wigs. Along with bell bottom pants and wide lapels it made for quite the fashion statement for men. KC started in N. Miami and performed at both the Swinger Lounge at the Marco Polo hotel and the Castaways Wreck Bar - both extremely popular and influential arenas for musical talent in N. Miami Beach. This small area of the N. Miami Beach strip where these nightclubs operated had a huge impact in the 70's and 80's (although its heydey was really the 70's) and was a powerful draw for all the best performers of the era especially soul and disco music. (It later saw Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine skyrocket in the 80's.) It was a very unique period of the ongoing cultural revolution which was convulsing societal norms. Anyway, whenever KC appeared it was a guarantee sellout. Those boys were the epitome of disco along with the Commodores. Check out "Brick House" and other songs by the Commodores which along with KC's hits helped define the disco era.
Their first song and it was a hit Play That Funky Music White Boy😊😊😊❤❤❤😂
This Is A Reaction, listen to Queen of Clubs by KC & the Sunshine Band...
I just noticed the bass was playing a variation of the chorus melody during the verse.
Great roller skating song
“I’m your Boogie Man” gotta be. Please react. 😊
To the guy on the top left... where you been?? LoL
