My favorite is When Evil Lurks for sure! One of the best horror films in a few years, in my opinion. Hard to watch, horrifying, creative, well acted. Its like Hereditary or The Silence of The Lambs or Martyrs. A perfect film, but very hard to watch and not "fun" at all. I dont know if I want to watch it again, but it is a true horror film.
When I was kid in 2000 and 2001, Scream Franchise was only Trilogy, crazy to think these days there is 6 Scream movies and new movies are coming.
This is helping me at work very very much right now lol
You're my fave channel for horror cinema 💜 thanks for all your hard work! Your lists and guides are great; i love stockpiling your recommendations (got a list like over 40 films long lol) and I always have things to look forward to. My friend and I have partners who aren't into the genre, so we get together and have spooky "come chill with me" nights.
Thank you so much! I really do make content that I would find helpful myself, I'm glad it's useful!
Thanks for doing so much great work Emma. Stay strong love 🙏🙏🙏
You do work your *ss off for the fans of horror. Very much appreciated. I even bought one of your shirts
i love that there's a SPREADSHEET! MUCH LOVE EM!☺
You are very welcome!
Awesome as always - And I can vouch, joining the SpookyAstronauts patreon brought a lot of love enrichment and terror into my life. Do it people. X
Everything appreciated and well curated as usual 🤘🏼👏🏼
Cover me! I'm going in!
Hi, Emma! As I said on a separate post - I just found your channel and it's a godsend.
Background: I'm a Whovian (have been for years) and attend an annual Doctor Who convention here in Southern California called Gallifrey One. "Gally" takes place at the LAX Marriott hotel every mid-February, is fan-run and is limited to around 3,200 people. Anyhow - 1 year ago - I decided to try my hand at being a panelist. I was chosen for 2 panels: the annual "SF TV: The Year In Review" and "Animation Fascination". There was a separate panel called: "SF Movies: The Year In Review" that I chose not to apply for as 2 panels were enough for my first time out (we could apply for up to 8. I applied for 5 and was chosen for 2). This year - I again applied for "SF TV: The Year In Review" and 2 other panels. I was only accepted for SF TV. Of the other 2 - one appeared to be cancelled and I wasn't selected for the other probably because con guests of honor get first choice.
SO... Both the TV and movie YIR panels not only cover SF but also fantasy, horror and animation. Plus with streaming...the distinction between seeing a movie at a theater and watching it on your home "theater" is blurring. AND I see a lot of series, too, which appears as if you don't have the "bandwith" to do. I also watch a large number of non-SF genre IP, too, e.g. "The Bear", "Fargo", "Letterkenny", "Animal Control", the new "Shogun", etc.
Ok...I've seen 11 out of your list of 100 and 2 (possibly a 3rd) are in my "To-Be-Watched" queue. Yesterday alone - I watched the latest episode of "Shogun", the latest "Animal Control", the Spanish "Skins" and "Skinamarink". I'm about to watch a franchised comedy game show called "Taskmaster Australia" (Season 1. Episode 9) after a nap then maybe the original "Taskmaster UK", the latest "Abbott Elementary" and hopefully catch up shows that have sat too long in my viewing queue like "Foundation", "Resident Alien", "Snowpiercer" the series which is returning, etc.
Forgive me, then, if I mention a series when I post like the excellent South Korean K-Dramas like the monster series "Sweet Home" Season 2 or "All Of Us Are Dead".
To end - did you see the comedy/sci-fi/mystery "They Cloned Tyrone"? I mentioned it (and included a trailer) on your top 10 non-horror of 2023 post. How about the rom-com/sci-fi "Landscape With Invisible Hand"? "Foe"? An older one called "Holy Motors"?
Later! I have a lot to catch up with on your channel.
That ending was a little trippy. I didn't know if I was high or hearing things 😂
you were high it never happened and i never fixed it so you can never prove it
Such a great and comprehensive list! Seeing Godzilla this weekend and hyped. Spreadsheet is such a good touch! Only 15/100 but for some of these it sounds like I dodged a bullet. Fav of the year is either Scream VI or Dream Scenario
30/100 for me. Thanks for this Emma!
Thank you for your Guide. I like this Guide verry much!!! 👺👺👺
Excellent work I haven't heard of about half of those or more. Cool video Emma!👉🙂👈
Love these lists in the end of the year, where we look back on what was kicking and what was sitting 😂🥳
this is so well put together, always love watching your videos 💗
Bravo, Emma! Thank you so much! ❤
Your resiliance and productivity are inspiring! Thanks for all the great work!
I absolutely adore you. Love your content, have been watching it for so long
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family Emma!
Wow you are amazing!! This must have been SO much wooork 🎉🎉🎉
I absolutely love your lists, they're the best guide for any horror fan. Congrats on the amazing work!💜
Think I've seen about 10. Great video as always, Merry Christmas and stay strong.
Good work Emma! I'm on the board at 53 with maybe 21 more to go. Merry Christmas to you and yours 🌲
Thank you for the list, Emma ♥ I will check a few out that I missed.
You rock Emma!! I saw 59 of them lol Much love and healing to you.
What an excellent list! I've seen quite a few, but I only have Shudder, Netflix, and Tubi, so I've missed some good ones on Hulu. Thanks for a lot of work, and excellent one-line synopses.
I'm ashamed to say I've only watched 5 from this list. LOL. But, TBH, there wasn't much on this list that I actually want to see. And I spent a ton of time watching shows this year, one of the best being the newest show from Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, A Murder at the End of the World. SO GOOD.
Thanks for keeping us fed with all this great info, Em!! Happy Christmas!
haha the shameeeee! but there's still time just start now hahaha
I love your content so much and tend to agree with your review most of the time. I am going to try and watch as many of these as i can. Thank yiu for tge list.
Thanks for making this list!
Yes I look forward to this list at the end of the year ready to take notes
That list was so helpful thank you
Hahave seen about 50 of these...the others I haven't had an opportunity to see yet, I forgot existed, or I simply never heard of...that's why you're awesome Emma! Now I have a list to go back and finish my year in horror.
Oh, and Slotherhouse?? That's a personal fav for popcorn horror this year (bc sloths are my spirit animal lol).
Awesome job!
Thank you for this list because as someone who loves horror movies, I really haven't been keeping up with many horror movies this year. I got some catching up to do
you are my fav CZcamsr ever! I hope 2024 comes with good vibes and more subs❤❤❤
You know you have a special badge on my side? it shows that you are one of the subscribers which ive given the most amount of heart responses to over the years!
I’ll only watch your biggest disappointments video because you asked twice at the end 😜
awesome video, just what I needed! much love
❤
as you can imagine i pulled a couple of all nighters to get this one done and it shows...:/ but easy fix and it that error will disappear in an hour or so
I've seen 46 of these. I have a lot to catch up! Thanks for this, Emma!
I watched 58/100 from this awesome list thanks for all your hard work
Thank you! Emma. With this list you have done a work that is priceless... You deserve paradise for it. I only saw 67 but... In honor of your efforts, I will complete the rest before the end of the year.👏👏👏
Thank you so much! people like you are the reason I make content!
Best Christmas horror movie is black Christmas from the 70s 😊
There are some on your list that I hadn't heard about! I've watched 52 from the list :)
Thank you so much for this list! I've seen 34/100 of the movies so my watch list is gonna be super full lol
Thanks for a great video! A lot of good horror this year. My favorites have been Infinity pool and No one will save you. I was also surprised by Clock witch I thought was really good. Thanks again for keeping us in the loop about good horror.
This was a weird way to realize that The Blackening was my favorite horror film of last year.
First off I was “like” 666. Whoah.
Thank you for another year of awesome, helpful, insightful content! I’m honored to be part of your Patreon.
What an amazing year it was. It went so fast
38/100 thanks Spooky!
Really enjoy your list and especially enjoy the love for Beau is Afraid, which I think has been unfairly minimized. I think it will grow in stature with time and will become as beloved as Aster's first two films. There is so much to decode in Beau. One of my favorite details... one of the production companies shown at the beginning of the film is none other than MW (Mona Wasserman). So, in effect, not only is Mona the architect of his anxiety-laden life/world, she also produced the very film we end up watching. So, does Mona control the version of Beau is Afraid that we see? Mind bent.
Idk if it’s considered Horror but Beau Is Afraid was a movie experience unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
Hearing “poo and piglet” in the context of a brutal horror movie lol
Great list! I gotta say I 100% enjoyed Slotherhouse!
So many people did!
I think I’ve seen 72, a bunch of them are in my watchlist and a bunch more I didn’t have much of an interest in… but hey there’s still time before the end of the year! Great list as always.
Wait let me get my popcorn really quick
Thanks for the vid, i just want to say RIP to your doggie. We all feel your pain for your pup.
I would love to see you review more South Korean horror films and shows! There’s a bunch
Ive reviewed a lot I have a video on them too!
Seen 52 so far, should get to 70.
Skinamarink, The Outwaters, Enys Men ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Have seen 28 which I’m pretty pleased with but…there’s still 103 on my horror 2023 watch list 🤣😅
I think Saltburn belongs on this list under Dark or Twisted. It's my favorite movie of the year and has enough psychological & physical horror for it be a horror movie.
Not horror but thriller for sure!
Hiya , not a great year for me & horror movies , only watched 6 out of the 100 lol , will watch more in 2024❤
I saw 24 of these movies so far. Thank you for the Handy Dandy Google Sheet for tracking!

The last voyage of the Demeter never showed in the UK, which is really disappointing because I was really looking forward to seeing it. I think you can only stream on certain platforms.
I have some catching up to do. I've seen only about 20/100. Ari Aster is excellent in permenantly embedding certain scenes to my brain. Beau is Afraid is no different. I'm sure his next genre bending noir-western-dark-comedy will be the same as his other films.
Ohhh yesss
I actually enjoyed alot of the horror films of 2023!! If they weren't fantastic they were at least entertaining and that's all I ask for lol
I liked Its A Wonderful Knife 🔪 !
I’ve seen 33 from the list so far lol
Wow 100 movies just in 2023, I think I did a horror letterbox and got up to 45.
I do this every year! its a good way to see what we may have missed!
Who else wanted Emma's description of children of the corn to be "it was total shite"?
🖤
I'd LOVE it if you could add your personal rating on the corner of the screen for each movie, to give a little bit of an idea of how worth our time the movie might be 🙏💛
I watched 53 of these
But where do we watch these ??
Need to find My animal
Project Z
I somehow missed or forgot about Lord of the boobies that came out this year. Thank you for the reminder.
100?! 😂
Oh yeah the Winnie the Pooh movie
Is this a ranking??
No, I explain it at the start
@@spookyastronauts Oh, thanks a lot for responding. I would've really appreciated all of these 100 horror movies ranked from best to worst as it would've also helped me and many others navigate which one's to watch first on the basis of your relative ranking
Have you seen In My Mother's Skin?
Was it just me or was this year kinda bleh for horror? Even now I feel like I’m struggling to find things I enjoy that came out in 2023 😭
I hated Sacrifice Game so much🙄
FIRST OMG
Ilysm
I recently watched The Sacrifice Game not bad Scream VI was wacky fun I lived Evil Dead Rise and Insidious: The Red Door I liked it I love Saw X best one in a long time.
Only seen 40 but I have to say a lot of it I didn't watch because I wasn't interested
Bad things was sooo bad it was literally just a poorly done lgbt version of the shinning
the quest for non-woke-horror continues
Emma you are beautiful and you are certainly the best, ♥️
