Yup!
Definitely
I love how this video is exactly 20:21 longđ I also totally loved Possessor and The Lodge
âThe Dark and the Wickedâ was my favorite in 2020. Interesting how we can agree on so many things and then my favorite doesnât even make the top 20. Love your channel, hope it only grows in 2021.
Great movie, in my top 3 for sure. Very creepy and well done.
I'm just sitting down to watch this one right now, it looks pretty good
I really enjoyed the dark and the wicked.
Agreed, great pure horror movie. Top 5 in 2020 for sure.
Love the dark and the wicked and st maude
Sandler fans are my kind of people. That guy never got too big for his friends
He was in my hometown recently. He is cool.
also, Emma, thank you so much for this year. Finding your channel was a blessing and made me realize about something i didn't even acknowledge i liked so much. You and horror movies were definetly a huge motivation to get me through 2020 strong ;)
Yesss to your number 1!! My personal favourite of the year, Iâve seen it not even be listed in some videos so Iâm so pleased to see you ranked it at the top!! Thankyou for an amazing year of suggestions, particularly 12 Hour Shift, I adored it and doubt Iâd have seen it without your video!! đ€
I appreciate your channel so much Emma, love coming home to a new video! Thanks for the recommendations đ
Awesome list! Thereâs still quite a few on your list I need to check out and some I hadnât even heard of. LOVE your top 3! đđŒđ
The Lodge is a masterpiece. One of my favorite films in recent years
The lodge was my favorite movie of the year as well by far! It's snowing where I'm at right now which makes me want to watch it again. I will also be getting around to the ones on your list that I have not yet seen, thank you as always!
Man I hadn't even heard about your top 2 films. Definitely checking them out!
Thanks for these! Some of these I was skeptical about watching so now this was a reason to actually check it out
Oh my goodness! YES! The Empty Man I soooo did not expect it to be what it was! It blew me away! So glad someone else is appreciating it I haven't seen anyone else speak about it!
Loved it!!!
top 10
1. Host
2. Run
3. Beach House
4. Hunter Hunter
5. Possessor
6. Wretched
7. La llorona
8. The Rental
9. Impetigore
10. The Wolf of Snow Hollow
Great list! LOVE that The Hunt was so high. I think it was my most pleasant surprise of 2020. Sure, expectations were low but I had a great time watching it and I really really need Betty Gilpin to be in all of the things.
Good picks, I found your channel from your Saint Maud review and I am loving the content. Huge horror buff and I am now a huge fan! Thank you for what you do!
Love this list!!! Iâm so glad I discovered Emmaâs channel in 2020 and instantly became one of my favorites. Hoping you have a great 2021 Emma and more amazing content. Letâs go spookyastronauts nation!!!! đ»đ©âđđŻ
Happy new year Emma! Great list - you're right, it's all subjective and we're all allowed to like whatever we like.
It's great to see some love for Underwater. It's too bad it was delayed for as long as it was, but it was FANTASTIC seeing on the big screen before the shutdown. I still have a bunch more to see, but I've already watched Sputnik and The Call on your recommendation and they were both great!
I'm doing a "30 Days of Horror" in January this month with my friend. Your recommendations are always so helpful!
Thanks for a great list Emma, some movies on there I hadn't heard of so will add them to the watch list. Stay safe.
Love your videos, best of luck for 2021 đ
Great list. Happy new year and Good luck
I've just finished The Lodge after your recommendation and wow. I sat in silence through the credits and for about 5 minutes after haha one of the few movies that felt like I'd been winded when it was over because it hit me that hard, thanks for convincing me to watch it!
Crazy how so many of these movies get me like "Oh, that was 2020?" It feels like such a long year.
I have only seen exactly 10 '2020 horror movies'. So here we go:
10. The Grudge (yeah... no... I didn't think it was bad, but it was just the worst of the bunch)
9. Freaky (generally okay, but forgettable)
8. Cadaver (beautiful to look at and listen to, but the story is pretty cliché and there's not much to root for)
7. Babysitter 2 (thought it was a lot of fun and genuinely enjoyed myself with it)
6. Gretel and Hansel (beautiful movie and interesting story, would like to see it again sometime soon)
5. His House (fascinating movie with a heartbreaking story. Almost Silent Hill-ish)
4. #Alive (might be a little high on the list, but I thought it was fun)
3. Relic (Another heartbreaking movie, although the symbolism hit very differently for me until a friend explained the dementia part)
2. The Hunt (absolutely loooooooved this movie. It was tons and tons of fun)
1. The Invisible Man (just got it on blu-ray. So intense, thrilling and exciting! Can't wait to see it again).
đ
the grudge do be a 2/10 tho
Have seen grudge and invisible man
Wanted to watch the hunt and freaky but couldn't
My first time at your channel. What a great list and awesome rationale and presentation. 100% agree that thereâs no right list. Thanks Emma.
Thanks for sharing your favs.....on my watch list now....so glad a I subscribed. Keep up the great work...đđ»đ
Thank you, this is by far my favourite channel when it comes to my personal taste for the horror and disturbing.
Fantastic video as usual Emma I had so much fun with The Hunt this year I've seen it twice in a year where I didn't watch many films. Hope 2021 is a great year for you.
The amount of effort you put into these is so appreciated. Thank you for being a wonderful human being who wants to share their interest with others. I could never be extroverted or ambitious enough and that's truly admirable. Also, I loved Hubie Halloween as well. It was a great introduction to horror for anyone just wanting to share with someone else and doesn't exactly know how to start.
Thank you so much â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžbut I am truely an introvert! Which is why I watch so
many movies hahaha đ€Ł
@spookyastronauts Oh, I completely understand. I think I've been confused for a recluse quite often. Social situations make me very uncomfortable even though I half wish they didn't. I just meant on rare occasions where you actually have a relationship that you want to share things with someone else, you did a great job for those trying from the start. Keep going. You're doing amazing. âșïž
Hell yes to The Hunt! Made my top list as well. The lodge was great as well, but I think I need to rewatch that one. Great video and great list.
Yes, non horror movies next please!
Didnât watch many from this year but I enjoyed a lot : The Call , His House ,# Alive
Happy new year Emma!
Always exited to watch your content đ
Very late in the day but this is a terrific top 20, thrilled to see so many of my fave horrors of 2020 in the mix, hurrah! All the best.
Happy new year Emma, stay spooky :) love your content
This list is great! There are a few I haven't gotten a chance to see yet, but plan on it soon, especially since you liked them so much. I watched The Wolf of Snow Hollow based on your video and fell in love with it same as you (and it is in my top 5 as well).
And yes ma'am, a non-horror list would be amazing!
Amazing list! I've LOVED The Hunt too. Another favorites of 2020 for me were The Dark and the Wicked, Bad Hair, Spontaneous, Freaky, Run and Promising Young Woman.
Omgggg!!! I was waiting for you to mention the Lodge the whole time!
I know I'm damn near 7 months late but I LOVE your list!!!! The Hunt / The Lodge / His House were all INCREDIBLE!
I'm so happy to see someone who loved The Lodge as much as I did. I actually had an older couple walk out of the cinema right after "that" scene... which made the viewing experience even better.
Great job putting your top 20 list for us, Emma. It reminded me that I still have a couple more recent films to get to like "Relic" and "The Empty Man". I was glad to see a couple of my favorites make your list like "Underwater" and "The Invisible Man". This past year has been really hard on all of us, not the least of which was not being able to go to the theaters. However, I did make it a point to watch lots of classic horrors and thrillers, which was very fun for me. I doubt I even saw ten horror films from 2020.
Great work! I think majority of what I saw from 2020 was horror haha
Great list, thank you for sharing!
I caught a few of these only because of your âwhatâs coming upâ series. Thank you, Emma, for your service to the community!
Great list! What a year for horror!
I said "Yes!" when you announced your number #1 pick. That movie just stays, and stays...and hurts the soul.
Some on this list I haven't yet seen - gotta check 'em out soon.
P.S. - More Alicia Silverstone in disturbing horror movies in 2021...please!
Oh I love your top 20!!! Totally with you on the top 5 â€ïž
Thank you for the recommendations, invisible man is number 1 for me so far. Also thank you for introducing me to the letterboxd app =). I love horror movies so I enjoy your channel, keep up the great work đȘ!!!
Absolutely fantastic list. I still need to see The Vigil! Keep it up and have a great 2021!
Happy to have discovered your channel tonight! My partner and I are huge horror movie fans. We celebrate Halloween with a bang and Christmas with a whimper. So I'm looking forward to watching many more of your videos. I'm happy channels like this exist.
I love these kinds of lists from you, I always end up with an extensive watch list! Would love to see the non horror list too.
Two films that stood out for me this year the lodge and the invisible man
Wanted to see the lodge but couldn't
@@crimsonhunter7598 how come? Must be available by now?
@@andydobson2905 i don't know if it's in shops
@@crimsonhunter7598 depends where you live? In the uk not out there I watched it on stream

I find fascinating how complex the idea of terror really is. How for you, and several others found a movie like Host to be scary (which it was) but not as scary for me as for example, the concept of deep sea as you said. I guess that's the beauty of the genre :) Always nice to watch your videos!
just finish host , hmm the acting was on point had to say, but it goes downhill when people start dying
This is my second time being here on your channel and i really love all of your lists most specially you picks.
I actually really enjoyed your list because I liked a lot of the movies on your list and just because a movie isnât everyoneâs favorite or 10/10 type films. As long as a movie is enjoyable or entertaining thatâs all that matters! Love it all!
Yes! Thank you for giving The Empty Man some love. I thought I was the only one who would have it in my top 10. Loved it & am happy I was able to see it in theaters. The Lodge was also my #1. So dark I loved it so much.
Hi, Emma!
I came here to thank you, I just saw The Empty Man and I love it.
I personally enjoy hearing your opinions on films. They are of a true horror film fanatic. I canât always comment due to my job but I made sure to atleast subscribe. I hope you get the recognition and voice you deserve in the CZcams community!!!
Yes, I've been waiting for this!
Some awesome looking films on this list! Amazing. Look forward to checking them out. Possessor was absolutely incredible! Most of the stuff that came available to me this year were officially 2019 films I think, like Koko Di Koko Da, which really disturbed me. St Maud too. Good stuff.
Awesome list. I'm taking note on some of these movies that I haven't seen yet.
The Lodge and Relic were my favourites, followed by The Invisible Man. But I am curious to see The Wolf of Snow Hollow. There's so much talk about it.
Banging out dat quality content on the regs!
Yeah, happy to see 'the hunt' in your top 20 list, overall good work!đ
Nice! Will watch this one tomorrow đ excited to discover some new gems
Iâm so happy your number one is The Lodge! Definitely in my top 5 this year but without a doubt my favourite is Anything For Jackson! So pleasantly surprised by this movie
I loved Hubie Halloween as well! great fun! AND your canal your rules. I always check your recommendations if I have an access to the movies you're talking about and was never disappointed. Your taste and knowledge are simply impressive. Happy New Year and may only the great horror movies appear in 2021 so you have a lot to talk about!
I am a huge Horror Fan from Nashville TN in the southern US. And I'm loving your channel!! Plus I love your accent!! đ Definitely just subbed!!
Your hair is looking great!
Didn't expect the hunt so high!
Interesting how significantly expectations can affect the reception. In my case, it was the other way around: I have been looking forward so much to The Lodge, because I enjoyed Goodnight Mommy quite a lot, but have been terribly disappointed, because of some major script mistakes that destroyed the whole film. Such a great list though, and a happy new year, dear Emma!
I totally agree! THE LODGE IS TERRIBLe! I got my expectations high bcuz of this video only to be dissapointed! It was so predictable. I was expecting for a twist towards the end but NADA! Just a waste of time!
I know this is 2 years in the past, but I totally dig your lists !
Currently had no movies and then I found one of your lists and did found âTuskâ on it, which really struck me and entertained me at the same time đ
Thanks so much, keep doing what you do best and I keep viewing your vids âïž(This time itâs âSwallowâ and âThe Wolf of Snowâ)
What a great top 20 list. I didnât even think that there were 20 good movies in 2020. Boy was I wrong. I just have a short memory apparently. I donât see any movies here I didnât like and I saw most of them. Now I want to rewatch several of these. Thanks for sharing. Love your show.
Such a great list! I have watched a lot of these films only bc of your recommendations and tbh I have enjoyed all of them â„ïž Would definitely watch a non-horror top 20 video as well for more recommendations!
Yay!!!
Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing and pointing me in the right direction for what to watch next. I keep a top 40 all-time horror, and from 2020, I have Swallow, The Lodge, and Underwater on that list... so far.
Sea Fever was in my top 40 briefly until bumped, want to give it an honorable mention. Strong bent to cosmic horror.
You've recently convinced me to watch films I ended up not caring for (Alone, The Wolf Of Snow Hollow), but then there are times when we're on the EXACT same page. That's the beauty of this channel. My top 10 all-genres is:
1. Sound Of Metal
2. The Lodge
3. The Platform
4. Promising Young Woman
5. Borat 2
6. Birds Of Prey
7. Host
8. Run
9. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom
10. Da 5 Bloods
great content as usual!
Sorry Emma, I havenât been watching many of your videos lately but that shall change! Iâve missed your takes on spookies, and getting some good recommendations from you. Keep it up, lady!
Well... Thanks a lot. My watchlist just got bigger!! Lol. Happy New year
I really appreciate this! Honestly I have never heard of most of them but I like the weird and wonderful as well. Thank you for your list. Of course all top 20s shouldn't be the same, that would be boring. Thanks again. Also thank you for having a voice I can listen to. :-) Not all reviewers do.
Stop saying you are sorry lol ! We love your movie picks ! You have over 74 thousand subs for a reason ! I love you top 5! I have seen 4 out of 5 of them I need to the see the wolf one! Keep being you and keep picking your picks ! Would love to see your non horror list:)
I love your list! â€ïž
Love the video, as usual. đ
I got really curious about Sputnik, and will make sure to check it out soon.
Swallow and The Lodge are super high-up on my faves list, for sure. I saw The Lodge after your recommendation and going into it I wondered just how upsetting this movie could REALLY be... And... đđš Thank you for that. (Honestly, it's dark enough for me to have been really glad that someone warned me beforehand. Usually I'm like "Let movies surprise me with their bleakness!" but nope. The Lodge 100% deserves a warning first. đ )
Thanks for the list. Although I did not agree with most of it I found out about a couple of films that look good. Thanks!
Great top 20. I love the more obscure, polarizing films
So glad to see someone enjoyed The lodge as much as i did, really blew my mind as i didn't expect it to be something memorable. I also really enjoyed The Host as it was the first horror since Paranormal Activity 2 to actually give me chills and i am not frightened easily ( which why i kinda watch them in the first place.. just trying to get frightened). As i saw Swallow being included in the list while not being really "horror" i thought i would also see Promising young woman - another very satisfying watch for sure :)
omg iâm so late to this video but finally!!!! someone elseâs #1 is the lodge!! this makes me so happy lol iâm so happy this was one of the last movies i saw in theaters and iâve been obsessed ever since!
Definitely adding some of these to my watchlist!
YESSS finally someone whoâs giving Hubie Halloween the credit!
I agree with almost everything on your list, The Lodge was definitely my favorite horror of 2020, and I would put Gretel and Hansel ad my second position . Both movies have such a beautiful cinematography and mood!
Wow itâs the first time Iâve seen all films on your list! 11/20 made my Top 20 too!
Many good films on your list. Watching His House per your recommendation and enjoying it. The two leads are superb!
My top film for 2020 was The Vast of Night. Incredibly executed, well acted, sensational camerawork, and mostly based on a true story.
Great list - thanks Emma... I agree with your number 1 pick - itâs the one film last year thatâs really stuck with me.
New subscriber to your channel, but you instantly gained my utmost respect when I saw that âHubie Halloweenâ made your list đ
luv your đlist....thank youuuu
Great video. Some top choices. I loved the Lodge too.
Thank you for these video lists throughout 2020. They are very helpful! Especially, now, at the end of the year. It's a brightly lit candle in the dark of winter. Muchly appreciated.
âšđđđâš
Thank you for the gift of a nice Top 20 List with lots of movies I haven't seen yet. I'm so happy. I'm also looking forward to your non-horror list, too.
đđđđ
My top 3 favorite movies from this year are Midsommar, The Invisible Man & Train to Busan. I didn't see these movies until after the US lockdown in 2020. I wish that I'd seen them in the theater.
đđđđ
I also enjoyed Becky & The Wolf of Snow Hollow, Rare Exports and Gretel & Hansel. They were all great movies, IMHO, because they surprised me in different ways. My expectations were subverted or changed fairly quickly on. Highly recommended!
đ€đ€đ€đ€
My least favorite movies were Underwater, Apostle, and The Invitation. I've come to the realization that I'm not a Kristen Stewart fan. I don't like her style of acting. It's my own personal preference. Apostle started out with a good hook, but lost me after 30 minutes. It was strange & mysterious just to be strange & mysterious without purpose or plausible explanation. And so on.
đđđđ
I like a slow burn mysterious horror movie. But The Invitation moved slower than glaciers during an ice age. We barely get to know the characters even though we're stuck with them for hours. The ending didn't make sense. Totally implausible. All of which is why it's the worst movie of the year. In my opinion.
đ€đ€đ€đ€
Emma, I thought of you when I watched "The Deeper You Dig". It's a small budget film with a few characters & sets. Filmed on location. The acting is good. The plot is simple, but interesting. I enjoyed it. I think you might like it. Check it out if you get the chance to see it.
Great list. Love the top 5
The lodge was the last movie I saw in theaters before lockdown :)
Also your hair looks very cute in this video!!!
Love your hair!!!â€
I really liked Alone. I was pleasantly surprised and I loved the pacing and how the film was broken down into pieces. I need to watch some more of these movies. I also really liked the movie The Wretched. Also, I loved The Hunt! It is such a fun movie. I didn't think you'd rate it so high, but I am glad you liked it!
My watchlist was almost dry and now I doubled it! Thank you!
Great list Emma, and as a Halloween 2018 fan itâs dumb someone would be mad it wasnât in your top list đ, but yeah I really want to check out the lodge still havenât gotten to it, and also do you know drumdums channel? Because he had a lot of the same movies on his list too lol so you might like him.
Great list!! Seen about 7 of these movies. Excited to see the rest.
I appreciate all the great reccomendations!
My favorites that i got from your channel so far.....
The lodge
Blackcoats daughter
The loved ones
Keep em coming
Emma...I was screaming that I didn't see The Lodge through out. Soooo relived to see it #1. You nailed it! I liked Alone better than 19 but now I have to look up B.H. movie Curve. Thank you
Excellent picks
