Prefer this list youâve made
when I saw Evil Dead in theaters I was 13 and was so scared (even though I loved horror movies) I made my mom take me to the 24/hr Walmart at like 12am after the movie because I didnât want to go home to our dark house and have to sleep alone, because you know, monsters
Oh we have ALL been there!
Yh it's quite scary, specially for a 13 yr old. I'd dare show it to my daughter. She's 13.
Irresponsible of your mother. Who tf takes children to R rated movies??

Cam? Boy is this sarcasm?

Love your channel so much Emma. My top 15 horrors of the decade:
1) Black Swan
2) Raw
3) The VVitch
4) Hereditary
5) Midsommar
6) I Saw the Devil
7) Climax
8) Get Out
9) The Babadook
10) The Conjuring
11) Suspiria
12) It Follows
13) The Devil's Candy
14) The Neon Demon
15) Green Room
Mandy, The Cabin in the Woods, The Lighthouse, The Love Witch and What We Do in the Shadows would have potentially made it in but I don't consider them to be pure horrors, more black comedies or other genres.
I almost put black swan! But I wasnât sure if people would find that more of a thriller! Loved that film so much
@@spookyastronauts Yeah that is true. I'd consider it a psychological horror.
Mostly by A24! Good list
oof the taste jumped out!! perfect list
The Invitation is definitely one of the best horror films Iâve seen this past decade.
It really deserves to get talked about more.
The Greasy Strangler deserved a mention though!!!
Bullshit artist! đ
spookyastronauts Porto!
The original Evil dead is my fave movie of all time. Absolutely loved the remake too. Real old school raw horror. Don't understand why so many people don't like it.
One of the things I love about your channel is you seem to watch everything. Many reviewers only watch American mainstream. You give recommendations for films from all over the globe. Love this channel!
2010- Tucker and Dale vs Evil
11- Cabin in the Woods
12- American Mary
13- Oculus
14- Housebound
15- Bone Tomahawk
16- Raw
17- It
18- Upgrade
19- Ready or Not
Awesome picks! Particularly Upgrade!
Bone Tomahawk was fun. Upgrade was more scifi except that bit with knife
I was thinking about THAT scene in Bone Tomahawk for days.
Raw was awesome!
This was tough, 2012 and 2015 were slow years for horror and 2017 I had a hard time picking a favourite there were so many great ones.
2010 Insidious
2011 The Cabin in the Woods
2012 Maniac
2013 Oculus
2014 It Follows
2015 The Witch
2016 The Autopsy of Jane Doe
2017 It
2018 Hereditary and The House that Jack Built
2019 Midsommar
Good list!
I am going to have to say 2013 - The Evil Dead...but this is an awesome list. But no :-( Conjuring
Good list!
YOUR LIST IS PERFECTION
the autopsy of jane doe is so overlooked, it saddens me because is a hell of a movie. literally.
The house that jack built was meh
I'd love to see a video about the films that changed you! That kinda stuff always interests me.
Thanks for the feedback Olivia!
Everytime I see a vid of you on my notifications page, I watch it right away. Thanks for the list, Emma! đâ„ïž
"The autopsy of Jane Doe" is my favourite. forgot which year it was released but It's very creepy
Great film!
Cool video :) So glad that you put "The Wailing" in there. What an astonishingly amazing film!
Yes! I am glad you are doing this, The Evil Dead remake has to be here
Glad you are a fan!
I was so impressed with The Evil Dead.
Stumbled across your channel and love it especially these top tens!
Great list! I myself spend hours seeking out hidden gems and I've seen all of these but rarely hear of them on any other lists. I love how you geek out and get emotional over theses movies like I do. Totally subscribed after this video. Thanks and keep it up!
P.S. No need for a top ten from me. You were pretty much right on the money.đ
aw thanks Sara! Im a weirdo like that, but I think most of us are here thats why we watch these kinds of videos :D
@@spookyastronauts It's probably true. đ Thanks for acknowledging my comment.

I canât tell you how happy it makes me you put âcreepâ on here. Legit one of my favorite movies ever. Mark duplass does SUCHHH an amazing job itâs so uncomfortable but great

Your choices are so good! Definitely need to watch some of the ones I haven't even heard of!
you are so refreshing and wonderful!!! So many great ideas!!!
Wow so many I need to see, thanks for the recommendations. And also thanks for putting Maniac in, I loved that movie! One of my favorites from the decade as well.
Glad you also love it !
I always get so happy when you upload a new video! Great content, once again
Thank you Clapback!
Hey there; I just wanted to say that I am recent subscriber and I am already a huge fan; your insights are evocative, detailed, intriguing yet never spoilery or clickbaity. Thanks for sharing your gift! You have my Watchlist on Letterboxd bulging at the seams!
Big Love and Respect from Ireland! PS I too would love a "Films that Changed Me" Video!
Yay! I love Ireland! Thanks for being here :)
been waiting for this! thank youâ€ïž
yay!
Thanks for setting me up for this quarantine Emma!
Anytime ;)
Just found your channel and Iâm very impressed by the content. Great work!
Thanks
Just started watching your channel and I'm really impressed by how you're able to give an explanation yet not give away the entire storyline.
I try! Thanks for stopping by :)
@@spookyastronauts oh my god you replied, that's so cool! Okay since I have your attention, two things.... 1st: I'm a quarter through the book Gerald's Game but I'm not totally into it so I was going to give up but now that you've said it's your fav I will push through and finish it! 2nd: the two best movies I've seen this year are The Nightingale, it's beyond incredible & Hostiles, so emotionally distraught yet so empowering. They aren't horrors buy they are terrifyingly terrific, please watch them, I know you'll love them!!!
Iâve reviewed the nightingale :)
Real good job on your list đ thx
Was just looking for this list last nightđ Thank ya
Thank you!
This was such a great list girl! Loved so many of these movies!
Yay thanks Jessica
So glad you recommended The House At The End Of Time. This is easily among my top five horror films from the last decade. It is just so darn clever.
Thank you for "The Invitation", loved it.
Awesome list Emma! There's a lot here I actually haven't seen (and some I've been avoiding, I'm looking at you Evil Dead and Maniac đ), so I have a lot to put on my watchlist!
oh wow! hope you see some of them soon!
I am a big fan of your channel so I was looking forward this video. Thank you for making it! But as a Venezuelan horror fan I almost flipped when I saw "The house at the end of time" included. I am really glad you liked it!
Awww thats so awesome! I'm so glad you are a fan!
Great list! The Maniac remake is one of my all time faves! Glad you love it too. Also really liked Housebound, I agree it needs to get seen by more ppl. I just seen The Invitation recently - loved it!
Oh awesome I thought i'd be alone on that!
Tom Ffrench Itâs very different in execution. But thatâs what I like about it. I mean seriously, if you go in & do a Joe Spinell imitation you can only lose. Elijah Wood did an awesome job. Give it a chance, itâs really an updated version of the original. Itâs gory & itâs very well done, totally recommend it but you have to go in with an open mind.
Thank you for the very categorized recommendations!
Thanks for watching!
Loved your list Emma. On your recommendation I recently watched Harpoon and loved it. Your lists and favs are the best.
Yay!
Lol love all the ties keep them coming. Awesome list as always đ
đ„łđ„łđ„ł
Funny I just met this channel and I really like your pics, they are all odd and gritty not generic or empty for the most part. I donât get much from how the movies are described but I get this girl doesnât do boring so itâs going to help out a lot.
Absolutely love your list! Glad someone else loves Unsane as much as me!
It was such an exciting film!
Great list. Thereâs quite a few on your list that look very interesting. Subscribed â€ïž
Thank you so much Sam!
Great list Emma. You showed a few new ones I need to check out now.
Enjoy!
The Devilâs Candy is amazing!!! Never seen anyone talk about it before, that one scene with the guy mindlessly strumming the super loud electric guitar was SO creepy to me.
Looove your vids! I watch you from Mexico and find your taste so cool. I havenât seen a few of your favs but the great majority I have and totally agree with you. Do 80s!!
Omg I forgot how much I love Housebound! Literally gonna rewatch this weekend that movie is so much more deserving of recognition! Canât believe I forgot about it until this video. Iâm gonna go revisit all of these :)
Just got into the channel, lovely accurate reviews, great and recomended !!! Best aussie clear english for us non english native speakers ....
Love this list!
Would love a video on films that changed you
Seconded !!!
Thanks Brooke!
OMG nailed it đ€ AHHHH I was so excited for this video and you did not disappoint!! Emma you are the Horror Film Queenâđ
P.S. I LOVE found footage films and am NOT ashamed đ€·ââïžđ€Ł
My favorites as of late are Hereditary, Blackcoate's Daughter and and IT 1&2, Midsommar, House on Haunted Hill series and Suspiria đ
Thank you so much for this comment it really picked me up on a down day. YOU ARE THE BEST
I just watched Blackcoats Daughter a few months ago. I had put it off so long because my FB horror group hated it so much. I love it tho. I literally watched it 3 times in a row after my first time and every time I watch I catch something else I had missed! Love all the ones you list here too except I still need to watch Haunted Hill House and Iâm an old school IT lover.
I want to say that I just discovered this youtube channel and I'm really happy to see that you talk about a lot of horror movies from many countries and not mainly about USA movies! I understand that you are australian, but many films are not even in english, there are a lot of movies in spanish or german.
I would love to see (maybe you already did it) a list of australian horror movies, because I love australian horror.
Iâve done a series called horror around the world where I talk about all different countries ! Itâs on the playlists on my channel :)
i just felt it was missing VHS or You're Next, because they were so brilliant and well crafted, but I just realized it in the end of the video. the Evil Dead is absolutely amazing and it is one of my favorite movies of all time, period., and I'm glad someone recognizes the artistry behind it. I loved your list and now I'm pumped to see Tusk lol
Emma , that is one great list of your top horror films and hidden gems from the last decade! 2010 - 2019. Many I have not seen and will seek out. I am right there with you with Claire Foy in "UNSANE" tremendous film. Also Jane Levy in "Evil Dead", Director: Ari Aster / A24 and so many others you like. Thank you so much for this comprehensive and awesome video. P.S. You are not a geek ! Glad you have the emotional intelligence to let an emotional film speak to you as it was intended to. :-)
Geek isnt a bad word in my book! If im a film geek so be it! :D thanks for your comment!
UNSANE. yes! such unique film and actually really disturbing yet endearing movie, art direction is impeccable. I rarely rewatch movies but ill be happy to see this one again. Glad to having found your channel, really good recommendations! Going to watch the evil within
Also Idk if you take recommendations for videos! But Iâd love to see one of these just consisting of your favourite slashers and hidden gems from each year! Thanks for the upload your videos are awesome
so many new films to add to my list from the hidden gems! thanks emma â€
Yes! I hope you like them!
Incredible selections and jfc did The Last Exorcism unexpectedly creep me out when I first saw it!
These films are definitely by no means an incredible addition to the horror genre like Hereditary, but considering I watched them with low expectations... The Awakening, As Above So Below, and The Taking of Deborah Logan ended up becoming surprising guilty pleasure films for me. đ€·ââïž
Thanks for Including Evil Dead and The Wailing, def on my Top 10 list of all time.
Thank you Emma!
Your taste is awesome Emma! đ„° So many amazing films.
I love you! thank you!
@@spookyastronauts love youuu â„ïž
I feel vindicated that you chose Unsane. What a brilliant film. I absolutely love it and have seen it at least 4 times. Hereditary is also awesome and I think your picks for 2018 in particular were perfect. Hell yeah
List of movies that changed me! Pleaseâ€ïž Love your list definitely gave me some to watch!! My favorites you mentioned are Unsane and The Invitation!!đđœđŻ
Thank you!!!
great list! not only the top 10 (there wasn't 10 movies there) but also the hidden gems! Bad Milo, Housebound, Maniac and The Evil Within are among my favourite
Oh thatâs awesome
Wow Emma, making a decade list must have been so hard. There are so many film on here I haven't seen! Awesome!
It was hard but I just had to go with my gut!
@@spookyastronauts there are so many films on here that I haven't seen, this list is like getting a late Christmas present!
Thanks Emma. What I think I love about your reviews, and keeps me coming back, is that you have very quirky and passionate choices. Sometimes what you like overlaps with the general zeitgeist. Other times not at all. And I have discovered several fascinating films through your deep horror spelunking efforts. (Satanic Panic was quite worthy, similar on some levels to The Love Witch.) Have you ever seen Stewart Gordon's Dagon? Underrated. Also I felt that the recent January dump of Underwater was quite a bit better than expected. With my vote for perhaps best Lovecraftian Cthulhu design ever for the creature. Anyway thanks for all the spookiness!
Thanks Anadromist, Quirky and passionate? I'll take it! I haven't seen Stewart Gordon's Dagon ?
pleaaaseeeee do a top horrors of 1999-2009!! new subscriber here and I'm literally binge watching all of your videos! best horror channel on youtube!!!
Thanks Maja! Iâve already planned my top of 2000-2009 đ€đŒ
@@spookyastronauts can't wait to see it!
@spookyastronauts Ngl, for some reason I assumed Lake Mungo was released in the 2010s, and was so confused as to why it wasnât on your 2010 list... turns out itâs a 2008 film!
I love you and your channel! You don't have to apologize for being "geeky" and passionate about film! It's actually a little off-putting, almost 100k people are here to hear your thoughts!
Oh my god!!! Iâm so glad you mentioned The Tunnel. I love that film. It is easily the best found footage film Iâve ever seen and the most terrifying film Iâve ever seen. Solid high recommend from me.
Your list is unique. Not just main stream movies. I love it.
Thank you
I watched Harpoon because you've mentioned it a lot recently and I loooved it. What a fun film. Thank you for your recommendations
Yay!
Great picks!!! I loved Unsane and recommend it all the time (your not alone lol) Red State also epic. Tusk just LOVE, I feel the same way about Kevin Smith movies. There's literally no way I could make a top ten list, although Creep would most likely be on it. I've seen all but 2 of these movies so I'll check them out. I watched Harpoon the other day off your recommendation and I really liked it too. Thanks!
Great list. I was also completely floored by the fact that I loved Gerald's Game (and The Evil Within is one of my all time favorites given the story behind it).
Wow! we have very similar tastes!
Great to see Maniac on your list. It's my favorite horror film of all time!!
All I have to say that's An amazing list keep up the good work đđđđđđđ
Thank you D Van!
I watched the tunnel right after this video, was not disappointed. Thnx Em.
Notification squad Another amazing video i really enjoyed it. Have a fantastic day. đ
WOOO!
Great video got some new films to try. I would love a video on films which changed you. This might be something you could then ask your viewers about and do another video about which movies/ which horror movies changed us/affected us the most/ stayed with us the most.
Thats a great idea I would like to include your films and why! make sure you follow me on instagram thats where I usually send out questions for feedback. It can get hard to pull comments from youtube.
The Invitation and The wailing are freaking masterpieces
"I've been looking forward to this"
Count Dooku. Honestly, thank you for putting in the hidden gems I have been "running dry" on good horror movies for months, this is really helpful.
Yay! im so glad.. thats why im here!
Great list
Thank you!
I love Creep, and found footage is my favorite horror subgenre. Great list!
Great list. I'm glad you added the hidden gems.
I'm ashamed to say I have not seen berberian sound studio yet. Going to try to correct that before the first month is over. I couldn't put a top-10 together for the last year's, but I will say my favorite hidden gem was witch in the window.
I can't believe this decade is over already.
I hope you still find time to do this again 10 years from now.
Thanks Jasper, Im thinking next I need to do my top of 2000-2009!
Great list! I made a top 30, so here's my top 10
1. Get Out
2. Creep and Creep 2 (tie)
3. The Invitation
4. The Guest
5. Tucker and Dale vs Evil
6. Delirium (nobody but me loves this movie!)
7. Hereditary
8. Autopsy of Jane Doe
9. The Babadook
10. It Follows
The Last Exorcism, Us, and The Devil's Candy all made my top 30. Also I watched Harpoon the other night and it was sooo good
OMG, thank you so much! I've written down so many a m a z i n g movies and I would like to check them out!
And your gems recommendations are amazing!
YAY!! thanks for watching Olha!
Good list; you mentioned a few Iâve been meaning to check out. A personal favorite of mine from the last few years is the remake of Suspiria, which was absolutely amazing, to the point that a fair number of horror films Iâve seen since watching it dimmed in comparison.
Side note on Geraldâs game: definitely a very well executed film. The acting, pacing and cinematography are all awesome. Unfortunately, being a father, it was really hard to watch during certain moments. Still a VERY well-done film.
Oh my god, Emma! My favorites for 2013 and for 2018 match with yours. I absolutely love Evil Dead and Unsane!
And I love "Vague Queen" :D
yay!
Wow Emma, these are great choices!! I loved Us and Hereditary. The Invitation, Tusk all those so to be honest. It looks like we have very similar taste. I feel that The Devilâs Candy was one that flew under the radar with a lot of people which is so sad. Here is to another 10 years!!!
yay glad you enjoyed this!
Completely with you on Last Exorcism and Berberian Sound Studio. I wish more people would talk about those films. Both are well worth checking out.
So great!
I haven't seen Creep or The Wailing. I'll have to check those out asap! A lot of great lesser known stuff on your list, Housebound! Bad Milo!
Hope you enjoy them!
