I love that you are unapologetic about your opinions and what you want/don't want to review. You're absolutely valid for setting boundaries for YOUR channel. It's inspiring to see you do this (coming from someone who has a hard time setting boundaries themselves). Keep up the great videos, Sarah.

Malignant rips im totally in the first category, i love how the bits of pieces of the mystery come together and it felt like a comic book including the over the top acting. I have watched some giallo but Im not like a massive fan by any means, it reminds me more of like xmen or watchmen which I adore

@@JebeckyGranjola i mean edgar wright is known for more stylized movies, so that didnt bother me too much, as for the women being sex objects/victims, i mean the main plot revolves around a woman forced into prostituion, so i cant really see how they can tell that story without the main characters being victims, there wasnt a lot of female characters, but i argue that there wasnt a lot of characters in general, a lot of the movie is the main character kinda obsessing by herself

Enjoyed Malignant especially towards the end, I was like oh so it's that kind of movie. Old was just boring. M Night is a hack legend. Good idea but poorly executed with horrible dialogue. H Kills had decent kills but it was just a mess. Candyman? Its shot well especially the critic's death but I didn't care for the characters and it wasn't scary. They focused too much on social commentary that they forgot to make a horror movie. The original had that but it was subtle. You cared about Helen and it had a creepy atmosphere.

How can a film introduce such a cool concept as the shadow people ...then go absolutely nowhere with the shadow people? Hey, just wanted to thank you for all the good recommendations. For what I've seen, we seem to have a pretty similar taste in movies, so I always come to your channel for new movies to watch, and never get disappointed. Thanks!

Love hearing your opinions on these movies, also my go-to way to figure out what to watch next! Also nice to see someone giving love to Last Night in Soho!! The people I watched it with only trashed it after it finished, but man was it amazing! The staircase scene is probably the first time in theatres I've ever been in complete awe at a movie! Also as someone who was 18 (a teen) watching Fear Street it instantly became one of my favorites (especially watching the third instantly after the first two), so you may be onto something about a movie marketed towards teens lol

Antlers I actually really loved but I loved your review on it so much. I understood every point you made. I had 0 knowledge or hype for it (I didn’t hear about it until it was in the theater somehow? I missed it idk) and I think it was mismarketed as a scary horror when it was a dark maybe gothic drama mystery at best?
Malignant I really didn’t like. It was cool yeah but I just didn’t dig it either. I also have FOMO because I just didn’t click with it but I’m happy it has an audience! There’s something for everyone.

I'm really behind in my movie watching for last year. I saw Halloween Kills in the theater and had a good time. I plan on watching all of your Top 5 and some of the others when I get a chance. I'll probably watch Antlers and Malignant to see what my opinion is. Thanks, Sarah! P.S. : Read Wylding Hall, it's brilliant!

Listen-Last Night In Soho is the only horror movie I rewatched this year. (twice in a week) And I got close to rewatching Old as well. I love that we have connected during that part of this video. Also, SO happy you talked about Oxygen! It's underrated imo and I wish more people in our community would talk about it. I'm a little biased being an Alexandre Aja stan, but aside from the acting, that movie is such an achievement in directing.

Scariest movie of the year for me was The Dark and the Wicked. This was creepier then any other movie I seen. This movie is about the devil coming for a dying mans soul. His family is by his side and alot of scary shit starts happenning. This movie is a hidden gem of horror. Everyone who like The Witch, shpuld check this movie out. The psychological horror is outstanding.

I thought the acting was really realistic. Maybe not that compelling to watch compared to other horror films, but most of our conversations in real life would be kinda boring to watch and I kinda like the hyper-realistic approach (besides the portrayal of schizophrenia). Idk, interesting to hear different opinions on it.

The scariest scene in Last Night in Soho was the one which, in reality, would be interpreted as a black man (wrongfully perceived to be) committing SA against a white woman. She's screaming, "No! Get off! You're killing her!" while they are having sex. I was so worried he would be killed or arrested, bc that is what would happen in that situation. Instead, the film frames this as no one having any awareness of this perception of the event or possible outcome. We are supposed to sympathize with the woman for seeing a spoopy ghost, and the man just shrugs that ordeal off and says the next day, "sorry if I did something to upset you."

I liked your list. One thing that is important to know is that negative comments is a part of life. It must never affect you or us. They are opinions we can read and move on from. Once they are read they are in the past. To have a balance we need the positive along with the negative.
