I wouldn't worry about the differences in CPU. I've actually compared the 5900X and 7800X3D in Starfield at 4K native with a 4090. They perform essentially the same and the 5900X is slower than a 14700K obviously. The only place I began to notice a bit of a difference was the cities which are cpu demanding to begin with.
But yeah this update brings some very good GeForce optimizations and CPU as well which also benefits Radeon users to some degree.
Only strange thing I ran into was comparing FSR with DLSS at 50% resolution scale the GPU/CPU utilization were much higher on the DLSS side while not delivering way more FPS so that was kind of strange but overall a good update.
I agree, that does sound strange about the FSR vs DLSS comparison. This is definitely a nice update to have for sure.
I think this just reaffirmed the thought that I need to just wait for any game to push out post-release updates. 150 hours in to completion (no new game+) and it's already looking much better than launch. Unfortunately it seems (with a ton foil hat) that community sourced massive testing got them enough data to reach this point now. Game is still "a mile wide and an inch deep" but hey, it's running better now.
"The modders will fix it"

Todd has spoken. Lol 😂
do you think vr is good on amd as well or just nvidia? Make a video someday on this topic!
It’s definitely running better for me now. Averaging about 50 FPS in New Atlantis at 1440p ultra native and just about reaching 60 with DLSS Quality.
1% lows are staying above 30.
5700X + 3060 Ti + 64GB DDR4 3600
with frame generation I've personally used it on my story based games but wouldn't with a game like starfield where you're actively shooting at targets where it's precision based wouldn't you want to stay away from the setting since it could technically be off? Obviously it's not gonna matter all to much because it's not a competitive game, but couldn't there be some unwarranted deaths potentially because of it?
I saw a stark difference...it was pretty great
I’m gratefully to finally be getting 90+ frames in new Atlantis finally with my 4080. I was not enjoying stuttering around to get to objectives lol 😂.
where i live i can get a used 3080 for around 350-400$ should i pull the trigger?
The 3080 is an excellent 1080p card and will be for a long time and a used 3080 is the best performance for dollar gpu in existence.
I would get a 6800xt instead. 10G Vram is gonna slap you in the face later.
@@stevensmith6445 You're not wrong but there is the problem of all new games going forward using ray traced global illumination and no baked in lighting because it saves a lot of development time so all game developers are going to start using it from now on. That's a new thing that I didn't see coming. So I guess it's all about if you want to play the newest games or not. With the newest games with the 3080 you can always turn down textures and you won't always have to do that but how will the 6800xt handle ray traced global illumination that you can't turn off? I don't really know the answer to that question. It's a big decision for sure. I found a used 4090 for $1000 plus my old 3080 because I'm tired of worrying about this crap but I realize that everyone can't do that and I really don't like the state of gpu prices and games getting so hard to run. You can do well with either a 3080 or a 6800xt depending on what you want to do.
The 6800xt has ray tracing and it's only about 10% slower than the 3080 as far as RT on average. Not to mention its about 12% faster in rast. Don't believe the hype. I have a 6800xt and a 4090 as well.@@pf100andahalf
@@pf100andahalfRay tracing is really just an intermediary step on the road to path tracing. Eventually path tracing will simply replace rasterization and hybrid ray-traced implementations entirely.
I prefer the slider, with a 7800 xt i get a CPU bottleneck at 1440p around 90fps with FSR2 set to around 80%. Going any lower (fsr2 quality preset is roughly 67%) will only reduce my qaulity without giving me any more FPS. so, using the slider i can balance my GPU and CPUs performance.
I wish a slider were avaliable in all games for both AMD and Nvidia.
I understand. Like I said in the video, I prefer the presets. But maybe we need both for all gamers. That would be cool. What CPU do you have?
Both would be a grea idea!
I'm currently rocking a 5800x3d. i was going to go with something fsater for rendering videos (for my channel) but once i learned about the AV1 encoder on the 7000 series, i went for a more gaming performance CPU.@@ErockOnTech
@@MatthewSimm I also have a 5800X3D. I tested the 7800 XT with it and I didn’t have a bottleneck. But it can also be game and resolution dependent. I did a full video review on the 7800 XT fyi.
I tested the game 2 weeks ago and it had dlss!
Good video. I only have gtx 970 lol. Runs terribly lol
lol it’s time for an upgrade!
Yea that card is like 11 years old, I used to have one too lol
Finally, I can use a middle man to lower the resolution and get better frames... thank you Bethesda for implementing this revolutionary technology into Starflop, in Todd we trust.
I simply can't play it. my i7 9700k, and 2070super can't handle it. It looks like garbage even on high settings, and yet it runs like it too regardless of settings.
The best part of the game is lighting, but somehow Cyberpunk at maxed out (except for texture quality 2070 super only has 8gigs of vram) looks and runs better than Starfield.
The game plays VERY well now. The problem is, is the game is kinda boring. They need to add vehicles for planet mobility. I don't like walking sims. It's beautiful! I played at 4k using DLSS Quality NO frame gen on my 4080 and was between 70-100 frames the whole time.
I agree on all fronts. The game has a lot of potential. But it is boring at times for sure.
Agreed my 2060 super seems to be doing better at max graphics. They need to add a module you put on exterior of ship that has a rover that rolls out.
It's kinda problem with many tripple A games. Lots off'em is mostly eye candy. Dependent on your favorite game types. Most new MMO type games struggle to provide an interesting lore and storyline and if the point is just to add more DLC's and mods to make you unkillable and just replay it over and over I fail to see the point in such games. Also we need better questlines that is adaptive. Quests that just tells you to goto place a, b, c, get some gear or what ever the game is about gets dull very fast and Bethesda is no different. Having a cool game engine with tons of eye candy don't automaticly make a good game. The old games like Morrowind is stil miles better, even the graphics sucks compared to todays standards
They can't add vehicles because then you'd reach the invisible walls in like a minute of travel and you'd realize that the game is an empty shell.
With the walking only format you can walk for a long time and get bored before you ever reach the invisible wall.
This way you also don't have time to return the game because you took too long to walk your way out there to realize the thing actually sucks.
@@arcrides6841 lol funny and well said.
The most I can say is that I had game pass for a little while and had the opportunity to play Starfield for free and chose not to do it lol. Keep it up! Almost at 16k boiii
What the fuck happened to FSR 3 with frame gen... Did NVIDIA drop a few mill to AMD to slow them down... cause two games looks very SUSPICIOUS, 2 of the worst games to exist and nothing since!
Lol... "perfectly optimized" for bethsoft*
