Sim Racing man. VR sim racing is absolutely an insane experience.
I love gaming in VR. ive played Elite dangerous, Fallout4, and Skyrim on my valve index on a GTX1080. I upgraded to an RTX4080 about a year ago but haven't tried VR on it because i was involved in too many non VR games. I play seated because i dont like standing for a long time and my flight control system uses foot pedals + hotas.
Thank you! I really appreciate the support! I understand about sitting. I haven’t tried that yet. I’ve only tried standing. I really appreciate you checking out my video and leaving a comment.
Good video. Glad you kept the review honest. I kept seeing you popup in my steam notifications when you were switching vr games lol
Thank you 🙏
lol 😂 that’s funny!! Yeah lots of VR testing was done haha!
VR has two distinctly separate aspects. 1) The tech. 2) The quality of VR titles.
As for the former, there's no question the tech is dazzling and exciting; there's really nothing like it. The huge issue with VR is the lacking quality of VR titles.
HL Alyx is the only fantastic game for VR, and even it is quite short by modern game-length standards. Other than that, there are lots of asset flip shovelware games out for VR, so while the quantity seems plentiful, that is deceptive.
If you like repetitive wave shooters, VR has you covered. If you're more into deep, hours-long experiences that provide original and unique content, you're kinda SOL with VR.
Not sure about you, but I'd rather play a pancake game that engages me completely, and gives me a reason to keep playing, rather than merely have dazzling 3D / 6 DOF, visuals.
$0.02.
P.S. Quest's issues are latency and visual compression artifacts, as compared to a headset that isn't wireless, and connected via DP instead of USB. It comes down to if you value low latency and better visuals, or if you value a wireless experience. Tether vs no tether, each has its pros and cons.
I 100% agree about the VR titles. Many of them did in fact look like basic shovel ware with little to no thought put into them. Thank you for the clarification on the Quest. I really had no idea. Like I said in the video, I'm a noob in the VR world. This was my first big outing. I appreciate you watching the video and leaving a comment. It means a lot! Thank you!
@@ErockOnTech Your video was solid! Even if you are a newb, I think you did a bang up job from the perspective of defining the experience of the DPVR E4. VR is such a deep topic, and I only wished to point out that there is a disconnect between how great the tech is, and how lacking the software is. It's kinda heartbreaking ... haha.
If you haven't already, give VorpX a try. It's a third party tool that allows you VR-ify pancake games. At worst, it's like watching a 3D movie on a huge screen. At best, it makes it totally immersive. Worth a look, anyway. Would love to hear your thoughts on that down the road.
As a general consumer myself, I find it too pricey. The DPVR E4 is currently $830 AUD, down from $949 AUD. The PSVR2 is $879 AUD. This is assuming you already have the hardware to run them. I have a PS5, so I know the PSVR2 will run natively. In my new PC I have a 7800XT, which is a great GPU for general gaming, but it may not be able to take full advantage of the DPVR, from what you appeared to be saying, and into the future who knows. Also, I wear glasses, and it's important for a VR headset to be glasses friendly, or able to adjust the lenses to allow for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism (or allow one to fit prescription lenses to the unit). Furthermore, there's the issue of nausea and for me, at least, there's nowhere nearby to try VR to see if I could handle it. I'd love to give VR a go, MSFS, VR racing, Beat Sabre for some fun exercise, etc, all are appealing but not at over $800 AUD (that's 7800XT money incidentally), but there are too many question, financial and otherwise, to make it a viable option.
Nice VR review! Made me go buy Arkham VR for my son. How you and yours have a merry Christmas! 🎉
I’m pretty current with the available headsets, but I have never heard of this one. Is it only avail outside the US?
Do you think the amd rx 7900xtx do good in vr?
I'm saving up for the Pimax Crystal. I have the feeling if I get this one I'll have a case of FOMO for buying the DPVR E4.
Makes me want vr... Although I've been looking at valve for the longest time
This headset looks really cool, I haven’t seen it yet before this but it’s stats are pretty impressive, for a standalone head set it’s a very good option, the meta quest 3 is standalone and has a higher resolution for the same price but the refresh rate is hard to beat. Cool headset for sure!
Check Pistol Whip, Arizona Sunshine & my favorite... Super Hot!
All are amazing. Quest 3 handles them well!
I will have to check them out! Thanks for the suggestions! What cons/downsides do you see for the Quest? I appreciate you watching the video and leaving a comment. It means a lot! Thank you!
@@ErockOnTech I've owned 3 different VR headsets & I cannot find a negative with the Quest except battery life BUT I always want a break after a few hours also. I suppose the fact that you almost NEED to buy accessories is shitty but it didn't bother me personally. Like the "Elite Strap or a strap alternative.
No. Quest 3s are on sale now at a store near you!
Just started Alyx & its incredible
Yes it is! I love the game! It truly is fantastic! I just wish more VR games was like Alyx.
I got batteries in my box!
Thanks but its more inline with the Quest 2 not the Quest 3. So $499 is WAY more then its worth. Just handling it you can tell how cheaply its made.
500 is steep for anything let alone a VR headset. I guess that's just the cost but that's also basically a 4070/7800 XT or so as well, lol. Maybe one day but not for me anytime soon.
I agree bro. I’ll take a new GPU any day! In the words of Naruto; “Believe it!”
Said someone who never tried VR and have no idea how good it is.
I would rather buy a good mid range gpu plus vr headset for the large upgraded gameplay that VR can give that were never possible with flatscreen.
Better graphic doesn't change the game but VR does beyond that
Not a fan of VR gaming myself, but I'm happy to see competition in the space. I love building for people who want VR rigs though, they've been the best clients I've had by far, because they always give me a budget instead of a part list. 😂
Not a fan? Most of the 3d games in vr are superior to the flatscreen version. Check Superhot, Resident Evil 4, Premium Bowling, and many more no way you wanna go back to flatscreen when you tried its VR version
@@toututu2993 Uh yeah, I'm happy with my LG C1. I don't like curved monitors, VR, any of that stuff personally, but building rigs for it is fun... for me anyway. lol
Preference being subjective and all, I actually think all that stuff is a waste of cash, but if you have the cash to waste, and you like it, more power to you.
