      Any 4090 is going to be amazing...... taking advice from somone who as only owned/tested one and is poiably still in the honeymoon stage is not a great idea. For most products anyway unless you are benchmarking i dont think the different clock speeds matter much. I bought the 4090 when it first came out. I just thought that it would of been ridiculous if I bought the 4080 when I can spend a few hundreds more to get 4090. If I was willing the spend that much for 4080, might as well go for the best.

      Makes sense if that’s the price difference. When I went to buy a GPU in Australia a few months ago the 4090 Suprim X cost $825 USD more than the Suprim X 4080 (65% more expensive). For someone that games at 1440p ultrawide, I couldn’t justify the extra cost.

      I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't agree with this. I own a 7900XTX and when I bought it, the gap between 7900XT and 7900XTX was as little as $40 Canadian. In terms of making choices easy and hard, the US has it much more difficult than I did as a Canadian. On that note, the choice between the 7900XTX and the 4090 was easy as well. The 4090 was and is $1000 cad more than the 7900XTX. That choice kind of like the XT to XTX was a no brainer, just using reverse logic.
      If I compare the 7900XTX with a 4080, the choice gets foggy. It's around $200 more for a 4080. I could have convinced myself to buy a 4080. The only thing that upset the apple cart for nVidia was the 24GB of VRam on the 7900XTX.
      In the end I accept that I got drunk on the kool-aid. 7900XTX is a flex buy. I play on a 1440, 144hz 32" monitor and I did not need a 24GB 7900XTX. Feels good to test stuff like American Truck Sim and Way of the Hunter and actually be able to play them at 8K 70-80fps but that is flex. The 4090 is also flex. It's the king of flex. Bad games will still suck, good games will still be fun. On a 3060, 6600, 7900, 4090.

      @@OcihEvE the funny thing is, when the 4080 came out. I thought it was such a bad strategy by nvidia with the pricing of the 4080. Amd came out after with the 7900xt and Xtx and made the same mistake with the pricing. I couldn’t believe amd did the same stupid thing with their price strategy (I think AMD price gap was even closer if I remember right. 100 vs 300 at release). There's no 'bad' 4090. Your PNY one will be fine at stock settings. Where you would have problems is with overclocking - the VRM implementation is inferior / cut down when compared to some of the higher end models. To summarise, so long as you are running stock settings you will notice no difference whichever 4090 you use. It's all in the overclocking potential which isn't really worth while anyway. I have an ASUS one which does have the full 600w capability but I don't plan on overclocking. I've never seen it draw more than about 350-375W.

      To add to this: you don't buy a 4090 for 1080p (or even 4k) gaming. It's genuinely difficult to not be CPU bottlenecked above a 4080/7900XTX on basically any monitor.
      You buy one because you can, because of VR, or because you update less frequently (the 5080 isn't likely to exceed its performance, and I don't think a 5090 is going to give much more than a 30% uplift).

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  Před měsícem

      Great question! So it’s basically a limited range of performance differences. Essentially, all 4090s are 4090s for example. So they all have a base level of performance they will hit. From there, different models have 3 ways they can be different. This includes looks, out of the box clock speeds, and their cooling solution. Looks are just looks and have no impact on performance. Out of the box clock speeds can make a small difference in performance. Ideally, the higher the clock speed, the more fps you get. The biggest difference is the cooler. Different cards are colder than others. Also, the cooler can impact noise levels as well. But mostly, all GPUs are within a certain range of each other. Look up 4090 roundup or 4070 roundup here on CZcams. You’ll see how small the differences are between GPUs.

      Multiply the price of the 4080 by 1.36. If the result is lower than 4090's price, then the cost per frame of the 4090 is worse and that difference is just paying for no performance.

    I have an all white 4090 build. My specs are for the gpu the white/silver gigabyte aero oc (the 4090 version of the gpu shown in the beginning of the video), for the cpu the 7800x3d, for the ram white corsair vengeance 4 sticks of 16 gigs of ddr5 64 gigs at 6,000 mhz, the case is the full tower white phanteks nv7, for the aio a white corsair h150, 9 white phanteks d20 or d30 fans, a 2023 1,000 watt corsair power supply, the motherboard is the nzxt b650e. My monitor is the 2021 lg c1 oled tv at 65 inches 120hz so I also limit the frame rate to 120 but I will see what I can get when I do not limit the fram rate at 2k maxed out with and without ray tracing and the same for native 4k. When I do play games the 4090 runs everything easily which is what I wanted the best of the best. The build cost at the time of purchase was 3,885 and that is with tax, shipping, etc.

    I think what many reviews of the 4080 failed to understand is that its Dlss efficiency is far beyond the 30 series (due to the superior 4th gen tensor cores) and that Dlss is a massive advantage over FSR 2, and in most cases is equal if not better than native. So these 40 series cards - even the 4090 - are really designed to use Dlss. I have a 4080 that is brilliant, but I've actually been equally impressed by my laptop 4060, which in Dlss balanced or performance hits 60fps at 4k in most modern titles, while staying well within the 8gb vram limit. That's really insane, and it truly showcases how much further ahead the 40 series is.

Thinking about this years releases alone from Hogwarts legacy to RE4 Remake, Dead Space Remake, Exoprimal, Remnant 2, Lies of P, BG3, Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, , Need for Speed Unbound, Warhammer Darktide, Redfall, Dead island 2, Aliens Dark Descent and am sure there's probably a few others that have upscaling but those are some of the ones Ive played.

      @@whiskizyo2067 why would you write something so misleading and confusing for people interested in buying modern cards? The tech is available in almost all modern visually demanding PC games, which is where that technology is actually useful. The fact that it is not available in most games, presumably referring to the thousands of games that were made prior to Dlss, is of course true but also largely irrelevant since all modern discreet GPUs are able to run older games without a problem. There might be a few outliers but presumably not many. I've had Radeon and NVIDIA cards and I'm not partial to either; I'm just stating relevant facts. There are I am sure smaller modern titles that don't support Dlss, and some outliers that have no upscaling options, and some like Starfield and Jedi Survivor (which are "AMD exclusive" titles) that support upscaling but not Dlss (in which case NVIDIA cards would still be just as capable if not more so if running this well), but the majority of AAA modern games support Dlss.

Did this with my Colorful Battle Ax 4090 and it handles it fine, maxing out at about 86/87 degrees at high wattage (this card runs a little hotter in general).
    Not that you rly even need it but nice to have that option. Flash the BIOS then run the Furmark benchmark to confirm wattage as other benchmarks won't push your wattage to its max. Although the scenarios are different for everyone, for me, at almost one year into this generation, paying that $1,600 premium, plus tax for a 4090 doesn't seem worth it just for it to be outperformed by the 5070/5070 Ti in a little over a year, UNLESS you are targeting 4K in which case, a 4090 is the best option right now. A used 4080 on Amazon is closer to $1,000 which would be saving you a third of the 4090's cost for roughly 80% of it's rasterization performance at 1440p.

    • @TheTeflon490
      @TheTeflon490 Před 8 měsíci +8

      It is already confirmed that 5000 series are going to be delayed into 2025, so 5070 will most likely be available not in a little over a year, but rather over 2 years. With this approach you could also wait forever for next gen of anything.

    I use frametate caps all the time with my GPU's. For example am playing Baldurs Gate 3 on a 4090 on the oled alienware ultrawide monitor 3440x1440 and have it capped to 80FPS with HDR its fantastic. Its more than plenty for that game, if i turn on DLSS too which does a better job with AA than the games own TAA my gpy pulls around 80 to 120 watts.
    It depends on the game and personal prefetence. For me i like a more consisteny experience so i will utilize fps caps, if im benchmarking something sure run flat out.
