    The only thing that interests me about the 4000 series, isn't so much the fps gain, which, unless you're constantly playing MAX setting at 4K resolution, even the 3080 12GB can handle very well. What really caught my eye about the 4000 series, is how power efficient they are. They can spit out those high frames at less power draw than a 3080 can.

    • @ChrisAlbertH47
      @ChrisAlbertH47 Před rokem +4

      @@alexandermarksstein8611 Power efficiency is measured based on metrics such as fps per watts consumed. The 4000 series can generate more fps per watt consumed compared to the 3000 series. That's why you have cards like the 4070 ti (heck, even the 4080) beat the performance of a 3080 or 3090 variants while consuming less power.
      It's also interesting to note that while cards like the 4080 have listed TGP of 300 to 320 watts, it rarely if ever actually consumes that much. Tests at 4K for most games (excluding perhaps some truly graphic intensive games on insane settings) have it max out at considerably less than 300 watts. Compare that to the 3000 series that will, on average always reach, or breach their _typical listed_ average power consumption.
      Even the 4090 when limited to the kind of frames generated by the earlier flagships, will consume less power. Meaning, if previous gen flagships can generate 100 fps on a certain game, the 4090 will consume less power generating the same amount of frames.

      "It's also interesting to note that while cards like the 4080 have listed TGP of 300 to 320 watts, it rarely if ever actually consumes that much."
      TGP 300w doesnt mean that the device is drawing 300w. It means that the cooling system is designed for a device that cosumes 300w. So the TGP is always(in normal cases) 10-20% higher then the actual power draw.

Frames are so much more stable, I consume a max of 340w with my Gigabyte Gaming OC 4080, but typically it sits around 300w, and my 3080 Ti consumed 350w easily. DLSS3 is not magical free frames. There is definitely a latency increase, but not so huge to be greater than what it has been before when no one was paying attention. For single player action, probably fine, for multiplayer, likely unacceptable for those who are competitive.
    I think DLSS3 is pretty solid tech and would rather have it over RTX any day (I say this as a hobby game dev, serious study for real time rendering, professional software eng). But I also am 99% sure DLSS3 is possible with prior generation RTX graphics cards but nVidia is holding out on offering it for 30 series cards -- maybe 20 series RTX cards are lacking hardware, but I doubt 30 series is missing anything.

    So fun fact about the SUPER DLSS. It does not affect latency so even tho you’re getting free frames your reaction time is still back to whatever frames it was prior to turning it on. So IE if you were getting 60fps in Warzone and turning on give you over 100fps in reality it’ll feel like you’re playing on 60fps. So the “snappiness” should be there. So if you get a low tier 4000 series card and stuff goes down to sub 30fps and turning it on Super DLSS gives you 60fps it’ll feel laggy control wise.

    • @jordanrich5839
      @jordanrich5839 Před rokem

      DLSS actually negatively affects latency. If you cap framerate at 60 fps on both native and dlss, your input latency will rise with dlss. If you go from 60 fps native to 120 fps dlss, you will have a reduction in input latency with dlss. You just won't have the same reduction as if you went from 60-120 natively. DLSS is an amazing technology and kept my rtx 2080 playing new games to this day, while looking better than native in many games. It's an amazing feature and will be the future of super high end graphics, along with fsr.

      Yeah, I won't accuse the youtuber of intentionally lying, but the way he segues from a discussion of latency/responsiveness to "DLSS 3 is magic free frames" is misleading at best. Furthermore, I have a ryzen 5 1600 af at 3.7GHz(I have a bottleneck of 0%-40%, but I don't mind). Can still run cs go at 220-250 fps average and dying light 2 high settings except for fog on low (The fog takes 20-25fps off with no difference) without dlss getting 60fps average. I run dlss on quality since it looks better in dying light 2 and getting 70-80 fps. DLSS on quality on 1080p does look nice and choose how sharp you want the game, can use fsr if there is no dlss and use dlss with DLDSR that upscale my 1080p to 1440p. I tried every monitor 27" 2k, 32" 2k, qd oled ultra wide 2k , and 32" 4k. In my opinion once you try 4k you can't go back. it even beats qd oled for me. the picture quality is insane. I mostly play FPS games like Squad, EFT, BF, Cod. I could see a lot better without the need of scoping so often. even single player games looks amazing. Everyone has his own opinion but 2k looks a bit blurry and pixilated for me after trying 4k. I'm running 4080 with i7 12700k "upgraded from 3080"
