  • The warmest spell of the year so far has now faded out with the weather becoming cooler and fresher. The coming week will have a cooler feel with low pressure from off the Atlantic bringing some showers and longer spells of rain at times especially to the north and west.
Saturday morning has been mainly dry in the north and south but we have seen two areas of rain. One across northern Scotland and another area of wet weather through Wales and northern England.
This afternoon will see outbreaks of rain easing across northern Scotland but showery rain will continue through Wales and northern England. Most other places will stay dry with the best of the sunshine in the south and east. Temperatures will be near normal in the sunny south at 20C to 23C but cooler further north, especially under the persistent rain where temperatures will be cool at 13C to 16C.
Overnight, the band of rain will move southeastwards across England and Wales but will fizzle out as it does so. Clear skies and variable cloud will follow along behind although there could be further showers through northern and western Scotland. Temperatures will be warm in the south east at 15C to 17C but cooler elsewhere where temperatures range from 6C to 12C.
Sunday will start mostly dry with sunny spells but a scattering of showers are likely through northern and eastern England while the rest of the country remains dry with sunny spells and areas of cloud. A rather cool day with temperatures of 14C to 21C.
A new weather system arrives from off the Atlantic on Monday.
Most places start Monday on a dry note with sunny spells but western Scotland and Northern Ireland will have a band of rain and we'll see outbreaks of rain gradually pushing eastwards into western and some central regions through the day though eastern counties as well as much of southern England should stay dry. Temperatures will be cool again, especially under the band of rain. 12C to 21C will be the temperature range on Monday.
We're back to northwesterly winds on Tuesday with a scattering of showers in central and northern regions but the south and west should stay mostly dry with sunny spells. Temperatures remain slightly under par at 13C to 22C.
The next area of low pressure arrives on Wednesday with more showery rain spreading eastwards into Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England while the rest of England and Wales has a mostly dry day with sunny spells. Temperatures range from 12C to 24C. Slightly warmer and more humid in the south and east.
Westerly winds bring a mix of sunshine and showers on Thursday. The south and east should have a lot of dry weather but the north and west will have showers at times. Temperatures will be a bit cool again at 14C to 21C.
The next area of low pressure arrives on Friday. A band of wet weather pushes steadily eastwards with some persistent rain even into the south through the morning. Brighter skies and showers follow from the west. Temperatures will be cool with a range from 12C to 21C.
Next weekend looks mixed with cool northwesterly winds and showers on Saturday and the risk of more persistent rain on Sunday.
Summary: Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain though southern counties will have a lot of dry weather. Temperatures will be cool overall.

Cheers Gav. Not a great week coming up if you like warm sunny weather though maybe not so bad for us in the South East compared to the north and west of the UK. Fingers crossed, things improve mid month.
