The Yacht Master Rhodium is one of the most beautiful watches ever made. And it’s not as common as the sub.
Agree with you - been on a list for the YM Rhodium for about 6 months can’t wait for this beautiful timepiece 😊
As I said it’s just opinion, I think it’s unattractive but we all have a different taste :)
Nice watch. If you’re 6’2 and 210lbs with a big wrist. Doesn’t look right on most of the people i see it on.
@@colinnguyen574 Clearly you’re confusing the Yacht Master which starts at 37mm and Yacht Master 2 which doesn’t even have a Rhodium dial. That’s gotta be embarrassing.
@@colinnguyen574 He's talking about 126622 with rhodium dial. It's the same size as a submariner but slimmer/thinner
Oh I think some big CZcamsrs would not agree with the list, but totally agree with you. Explorer and Dayjust are simply perfect, especially vintage ones.
Pfft yup but that’s because most CZcamsrs just wanna sell watches xD
As for explorer and datejust hell yeah, 1601 is an amazing first Rolex and super cheap too, then the 5 digits are even better and only marginally more expensive, they have an aura of class the modern just don’t for me
What’s your view of the ice blue 1908 just released ? Thank you
I love getting to know someone through how'd they rank things, like watches, or by the items they buy, books they read, cars they drive, etc. It's a cool way to look into someone. Thanks for helping us getting to know you through the Rolex tier! I never really thought about - till your video - just how absurd all the aquatic themed watches are they have! They're all the same thing! Anyway, I'm in love with the Cellini. There are some gorgeous vintage editions out there that I have on my short list.
Also on the hunt for an affordable Milgauss right now. I love how it's both quirky and unnecessary - it's like a black sheep personality that I'm drawn to.
Awesome my main man! And appreciate the support :)
Every sub and like helps. Also vintage is actually my forte, but the list would be far too long if I included them haha, and yeah not only are vintage Cellini nice, but so affordable too! Cracking timepieces
I have a Rolex Exp II Polar on the way from my AD. I would personally put it in the incredible category rather than the Its Okay. It has a masculinity that no other Rolex can touch and it is one of what I call a "bridge" Rolex...meaning it can be equally at home in both the outdoor world or Wall Street. Just an incredible watch. Good video sir.
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed :)
And yeah the explorer 2 is still incredible, but when comparing it to other Rolexes it’s just not my first pick is all
Hi, were you at The British Watchmakers Day recently?
What wrist size do you consider average?
The problem with the Skydweller for me is that the cyclops overlaps the circle thingy!
Heya! Yes I was, why were you there too? Also I’d say average wrist size is around 7 inches! As for the skydweller I just find its ring really ugly, I think it looks like a rejected datejust lol
@@WatchConnoisseurClub Yes, weird I noticed you and then saw your channel for the first time today!
I thought, that looks like the young guy that was gliding around in his grey suit haha.
@@wristopia4101 haha yeah that’s me! Which stall were you at? And it was only something I could pop in for a bit because it was on the way back to my house from London, shame I would’ve loved to make more contacts and talked to some more people
@@WatchConnoisseurClub You were in the expensive area by the clocks and Roger Smith.
I have had my Yachtmaster II for over a decade and love it just as much now as I did then. I honestly have no desire for another watch, at all.
Good for you man. Its my favorite rolex I want the two tone version. Its one eye catchy piece. Imma either get this or sky dweller
Nice. Plus you'll definitely have the last laugh since they just discontinued it.
Sweet! Enjoy it and love it! Make sure to wear it and don’t put it in a safe lol
Yachtmaster II is the best Rolex ever, it’s a big shame that it has discontinued! 😢
Guy Fieri has proved that it’s resistant to papreeka and koomin.
The Milgauss is the only Rolex I'd get, it's weird and wacky but very unique. It's fun.
Enjoyed the vid - great stuff!
Much appreciated lad!
Brilliant video review ❤ ( had to subscribe) unfortunately you hate my Rolex portfolio, sky dweller, deepsea, and yacht master 11! (I love a bigger watch) but that’s ok we all different and have personal preferences 😊
Exactly! Nothing wrong with that, if we all liked the same thing it’d be pretty boring wouldn’t it?
Picked up an Explorer 40 recently and it's become a daily.
First time that has happened since I got my old Seadweller restored and never really wear now.
Awesome and congrats!
Great content, just a small comment, sir Edmund Hillary had the Rolex explorer with him when he reached the summit except he didn't have it on his wrist, by his own acknowledgment he was actually wearing a British watch (Smiths)
Yup! Never said it was first to the summit or anything, I just said it was designed for the climb of Mount Everest! But absolutely correct, also as a British lad I actually own a couple smiths, mainly a smiths empire and a 9ct smiths de-luxe with some lovely patina! Gorgeous dress piece
Love your review and presentation.
Much appreciated!
Kind of agreed with most of your rankings, aligned with your tastes re more simplistic, classy design aesthetic. Was surprised then by your take on the 1908. This watch is pure class. Too big? It’s 39mm. And it has a similar look to the Explorer, which you like? I think they’ll release a Moonphase version soon enough. All the best.
1908 is stunning
I love your video, many thanks for explanations! Got a date just and fits my personality too!
Datejust is 👌🏼
Which ref, year and dial?
Lookin good man! Keep it up!
And you my main man
Signed 'Smiths De Luxe' below twelve o'clock, and 'made in England' below the subsidiary dial. 15 jewel lever-escapement movement. Sir Edmund Hillary wore this watch during his successful climb to the summit of Mount Everest, May 29th 1953
Did I miss your ranking of the Rolex Marconi?
I have had my DateJust 16234 in Steel and White Gold since 2002. I wear it everyday infact i hardly ever take it off. It hasn't missed a beat since i got it and really have no plans to change it. So i would have to rank this top of the tier basically based on me being biased towards it. But if i could i would like to have a DayDate as well, thats my favourite Rolex.
Daydate is my fave too, especially vintage stone dials!
Nice video but you must be about 5’7 and 145 lbs to think that anything over 40mm is too big 😂😂
I always see where a person puts the Explorer 1 on their list. You OBviously have class, you this gets a 👍🏻. Your other picks are good as well, though personally I do like the black bezel Yachtmasters . Cheers.
Appreciate the comment lad :)
And I don’t hate the black bezel yatchmaster, I just think it’s not much to offer as Rolex has better watches in the same price range that fit the same categories
As for the explorer 1, of course that’s bloody class mate, 9.5/10
The Rolex Submariner, he said , you can walk with it! Now that's an endorsement!
I’ve got a Grail (Daytona), Classy (Datejust 2) and Incredible (GMT2)….but I subbed the Sub for a Palagos39 because it’s less chunky..and want to move on to a Ew No (Yacht master 40 blue dial) because I think it’s quite handsome. More importantly it will allow me to close the Rolex segment of the collection and move on in my watch journey.
I agree with you. I have 5 Rolex and they are in the top of your list. I would add also that Daytona steel version is in my opinion better that full gold or gold/steel. For GMTII I prefer the "Pepsi version" with Jubilee bracelet. Explorer I (steel version) is one of my favorites. Datejust is perfect in steel with roman numbers and white gold bezel..
You seem to favor the dressier models over the sport models (Daytona being the exception). I believe their are more appealing dressy brands, and the sport watches are clearly the Rolex wheelhouse. To me, Rolex is the Daytona, Sub, and Oyster. The rest of the models are just the supporting cast.
Enjoyed the video. How many of these have you actually owned? Having ridden this rock around the sun for a few years, I have leaned that one’s opinion changes with time and maturity; and also with familiarity. Actually owning and wearing a few of these watches for a few years, might change your opinion. Fair enough?
Well as it’s Rolex the finishing and reliability are top notch - so all the watches are very good. The worst Rolex is still a Rolex, as for the first part I have owned a few not for a long period (I grey market deal with friends) and for those I haven’t owned I have either personally handled friends stock, or asked owners personally!
I’m sure if I wore one of them more often it would move up, but for now that’s not the case
which one do u have even ??
great video. subbed.
The Sky Dweller is much prettier in person and looks great with beautiful proportions. Should tank much higher!
You are in my mind ! I could make exactly the same ranking! I decide to watch the video because of your jacket.I though this man have taste. What brand is your jacket ?
I'd argue about the Daytona. I am not sure it is worth 3 Speedmasters in terms of price.
For me, my grail is the model I currently own - 124060. The Bond Sub
Pretty good ranking. I’m more tolerant of the 1908 and less enamored of stopwatches, but overall not bad. And I’m guessing you don’t own the Explorer II Polar. Not just a GMT, but a fine all rounder.
I have a friend that has the red hand one, it’s very nice, but I’m not a fan of the modern ones personally anymore
Well, that’s pretty accurate to my taste. Wearing my 36 mm Explorer right now. Cheers!
Perfect watch, enjoy it!
Great video, not sure why you only have 2k subscribers!!
Really appreciate the kind comment! Have a good one
Might have already been mentioned but Paul Newman's Daytona Rolex went for auction and sold for over $17 million !...
Great content
Much appreciated lad!
I'm not a huge Rolex fan, but I really like the Yachtmaster 2, although it is on the larger side. My favorite is the Daytona, though; dazzling.
you would do good to do a vintage version of this. Of course you would have to read up on them.
Whahahaha! I kinda like the Yatchmaster but I dont like the YM2 at all. Not a lot of watches I would actually buy or want to own but I think the Milgauss and the Explorer. You are right about the Milgauss though. Overpriced for what it is. Hope you have a great day!
And you lad! Have a good one :)
You’ve been my loyal for a while, what do you think about the editing of having a watch on screen with me, think it’s better then just me talking? Also I don’t hate the ym1, but I don’t get the point of it when the sun is better, fits the same categories and is cheaper, that’s all
Anyways have a good one lad! Another vid coming soon :)
@@WatchConnoisseurClub I think your videos are awesome man. Your style suits you and the camera work and editing and everything is top notch! Love my blue DJ 36, I use it as my all-rounder without the flashy fluted bezel nor jubilee. I don't really need to dress up often, but the look works for me since I'm just a techy architectural designer and not an investment banker or sales guy.
Of course! To each their own it’s a gorgeous watch, end of the day all these watches are made incredibly, even the worst Rolex is a damn good watch, and the datejust is one of the best! I generally prefer fluted jubilee because I’m always in formal wear, i don’t have a job I just like to be dressed up, one could say it’s my style I suppose xD
That works! Maybe if I move to the East Coast or Europe. I love dressing up too, but I live in a small town now on the Olympic Peninsula and don't anymore, and even nearby Seattle is known for its lax style 🤣@@WatchConnoisseurClub
Personally I love the sea-dweller, it’s perfect for people like me with big wrists 🚀
A submariner looks lost on me
this was really fun to watch !
Really appreciate it and glad you enjoyed!
36mm DJ black face with a smooth bezel on an oyster bracelet for me. Timeless and super comfortable to wear. I’d never be without it.
poor Rudy. Way off base.
I'm okay with this list as long both the explorers switch places!
Gotta disagree with you there lad! But to each their own :)
The datejust and day date are more comfortable to wear than the submariner and Daytona on a daily basis. I have an average size 7 inch wrist.
Two of the best models, so classy
I had to chuckle when you mentioned the Sky-Dweller was unattractive as the side shot glistened to perfection .I got to give you credit though the two-tone Explorer is impressive. Such a gorgeous watch. I would like it to get to at least a 40 mm range.
That’s the only watch most seem to disagree with and that’s fine! I find it quite unattractive compared to Rolexes other watches in their catalog, but hey, if you like it good on ya!
Hope you had a good Easter!
the Milgaus is really cool watch. Black face with green tint dial.
Agreed - love it, glistens in the Mediterranean sun.
For me the yacht-master look like Tudor maybe I m wrong 😑…but Perpetual is soo cool!
It’s just not very attractive to me personally
best designs in my opinion are the sub and datejust, my favorite are the ones from the 80s/90s
I had an Air-king in stainless with black dial and baton markers, purchased new for £919. I recently passed it on to my son ( got fed up with him pestering me for it 🙂 ). This has been replaced with a vintage 1016 explorer which for me is the perfect Rolex.
Incredible taste, assuming since it was so cheap that was a while ago? Was it a 5500?
@@WatchConnoisseurClub yes to both questions 👍🏻
You got it almost 100%… great assessment ..
Haha much appreciated!
the YM2 in rose and stainless is fricken awesome.
I’m a scuba instructor and have the sliver Submariner, which I wear almost everyday and love. However I don’t like the gold Submariner. It over the top and warned by people that are showing off and not real scuba divers.
Damn, I had high hopes for the YM2
Haha not for me or most people at that point, widely considered the worst Rolex model along with the 1908, but hey if you like it then good for you
In agreement with most. But, to be a top tier daily watch like the explorer 1, I think you really need a date function.
Fair enough
I like the titanium YM. I think it’s pretty fly👌🏽
If you like it that’s all that matters! I don’t like titanium watches because they feel cheap on my wrist just due to how light they are - I like to feel my watch. But even so it’s still a modern Rolex so it’s finishing and reliability are incredible, every Rolex (other then the 1908) is an incredible watch, this is just my opinion of where I’d rank them
You need to check when the gmt master was introduced 👍
I was talking about the gmt master 2 of course! But if I got that wrong may you tell me the correct date for future reference?
Many thanks!
There's a rumor the explorer 2 will be discontinued in a year or two 😮
That would be big since it’s been a popular model for a long time!
Love my two tone date just with fluted bezel and blue face.
the Employer is a classic. But zip like the sub date better
What about the blue and red yacht master? Looks completely different than the one you showed
This is a model tierlist, not specific so it includes all dial, bezel and material variants, appreciate the comment and hope the Sunday is going well!
@@WatchConnoisseurClubgotcha. I happen to agree the model you showed here is incredibly ugly, however the blue and red variant on the polished oyster bracelet I find to be incredibly beautiful, especially out in the sun. It's a work of art. When you are talking about models that have a huge contrast in overall appearce in their variations then you really are missing peices of the puzzle even if its only a model tier list. I would find it to be something valuable worth mentioning.
Although I don't agree with all of your choices, I see you put both of my watches in the Classy tier.
The grails for many, in the MODERN Rolex line up are the platinum DD and platinum Daytona, you missed half the market though - the VINTAGE Rolex market, there are a TON of Rolex grails in this genre - 1016's to Paul Newman Daytonas with some early 1665's mixed in - the absolute grail IMHO would be an early "BOND" sub in minty condition:-) but you are talking a segment of the market that doesnt really appeal to the new Rolex buyer - many of which are buying them to show off to people who may not care or even like them... Remember people - you buy a watch because YOU love it regardless of brand, this recent idea that watches are investments will be proven (and is as we speak) to be wrong.
I actually said during the video I’m excluding vintage because there’s too much to cover!
I also said that I’m primarily a vintage collector, more than half my collection is vintage!
I think even though in terms of robustness, reliability and finishing they are inferior to modern, in terms of design, proportions and most of all aura they are superior, vintage watches just have a whole other level of class on your wrist
@@WatchConnoisseurClub Vintage is MUCH more interesting to me, not only do you have to know a hell of a lot more about the watches you have to be able to negotiate your way through the dishonest sellers that mess with these older watches - in THIS genre "BUY THE SELLER" takes on a whole knew level of meaning...
You’re right, your opinion is absolute and just!
My sub (124060) is my favorite watch and my wife loves her 1991 gold Datejust with Champagne dial, diamond index, gold jubilee bracelet. Two absolute classics! Great video!
What happened to the new earring?
Hm? What do you mean by that lad
@@WatchConnoisseurClubYou had a new one in the right ear in the last video!
@@danielthegeek4582 pfft o just like to switch them out is all! Last video I had 2 silver ones but this video it’s a single gold one, matching metals as last video I wore a steel watch but in this one I had a solid 9ct gold omega on
@@WatchConnoisseurClub Yeh, I do the same. I’m weirdly observant of details like that, and I’m also as obsessed with jewellery as I am with watches!
@@danielthegeek4582 lol fair enough!
I wouldn't consider Daytona as my grail, rather would want GMT Master II there. Apart from that, great tier list!
I love the sky dweller mint green ❤️👍
“YOU TWIT!” 🤣 your speaking very calm but I hear you yelling this due to thee accent
Great video, lots of interesting information on every watch. I also agree with basically all of your ranking choices. I think the Submariner is the ultimate icon of watches. I just think that maybe the "incredible" category should have been placed above the "classy" in the table.
Your bang on about the Rolex Deepsea it’s huge and heavy and unless you have a very large wrist,it doesn’t sit well on an average wrist 😡👍
Haha! I see you share my opinion xD
Largely agree except for the yacht master. A better version of the quite boring uninspired Sub. Stunning watch.
you're one of the only watch youtubers that is objective about a watch's subjective style/looks. great ranking
much appreciated lad!
You got it almost right: Sky-dweller has to go up to Grail, and that's it
I’d have to disagree but that’s fine! Long as you love the watch it doesn’t matter what anyone else says
I hate the cyclop date windows. Therefore I only would buy the Explorer 40 mm, the Oyster Perpetual 41 mm, and the iconic Submariner without date.
Fair enough! I don’t mind cyclops windows, I actually prefer them if I have a date window
Love my sky dweller, perfect size for a large wrist.
Fair enough as it's your opinion 👌 ... I would defo put Yachtmasters' range above the Sub range just because to me... Subs are boring over hyped. Everyone's has one 😂
That is one of the reasons why I got the YM Rhodium dial instead of a black sub date. The fit and finish are actually better for my wrist 🤌
Plus, who wears a sub to actually go diving in this day and age is mainly to flex, so ya might as well get a Yachtmaster 😂😂😂
Well modern Rolex as said isn’t my thing I like vintage, but I understand! I find sporty stuff not quite me I’m more of a dressy person because I generally dress quite formally
As for the diving part let’s be honest everyone looking for 200-300m of water resistance doesn’t actually need any more than 100m most of the time xD
@WatchConnoisseurClub Fair enough I understand 👍.. yeh my lifestyle is more sporty or street wear clothes dont tend to wear formal clothes 🤣
For diving I just wear a Gshock or nothing at all plus as what you said never mind 100 meters 10 to 20 meter dive/swim is enough 🤣🤣🤣
Why did you include a discontinued model (Milgauss)
I was just including anything non-vintage is all lad!
why not? most people buy their Rolex second hand
All good except 1908 , extreme slim watch , wears just perfectly on the wrist
Fair enough! To each their own lad, glad you enjoyed :)
This makes me sad I’ve always loved the yacht master 2 and after years finally got one as my first Rolex.. and now this maybe I should have not got it 😢
No no, this is my personal opinion lad! Every single Rolex is incredible value, with amazing finishing, extremely robust and reliable movements, and they hold their value.
I personally find it ugly but that’s just my opinion, if it suits your style then you should be happy with it!
Looks like Rolex agrees with you on the YM2 😂😂😂
YM is a fantastic watch, a not boring sub upgrade
To each their own! Just an opinion lad, but that completely fair, all Rolex are well made with robust and reliable movements, I just dislike the ym personally is all
it's sad nobody ever do rolex tier list from vintage to present catalogue. the current catalogue is kinda repetitive and opinions are fairly consistent that differs only in the sports category. hope that some youtuber out there dare to take up this challenge rather than the same rinse and repeat catalogue (I understand there are many variations and hence I say take up the challenge) but a good way would be selecting a few 4 digits, 5 digit and 6 digit and rank them altogether because let's be honest, we are not historians in rolex and we may not get all the references down. this is also to avoid some old 6 digit and new 6 digit which may or may not be useful comparisons. another way would be to group them according to their movements as the caliber are shared in between some models and vintage too. good luck on the channel
I’m a vintage collector myself, my grails are all 5 and 4 digit, mostly daydates with stone dials and some rare datejust models like the novettone, also bubbluback are incredible and of course some vintage subs and such, only thing is that to include such models would be like an hour long video and that’s a big project that would take a lot of time
Rolex tier list by Tom Holland 😂
I own the Oyster Perpetual 36 which I believe is understated and tasteful. Of course, they are far more expensive than they should be, but the quality level is incredible. They made a 37mm Milgauss which is my grail watch. Unlike you, I find the Subby boring, and the Datejust with it's fluted bezel ugly
Well as I said at the beginning to each their own! I’m actually not huge on the modern datejust honestly, it’s the vintage 4 and 5 digits that I think are just absolute class!
A while back I did a head to head with my OP 36 and BB36. Worth a look
@@watchalot919 interesting I’ll do that when I’m home from school
the moonphase is very beautiful too
Great channel, but your wrong the first watch to the top of Everest was a Smith’s,👍
Yeah I’m aware! Just said the Rolex was made to climb Everest, and he did have one on him he just wasn’t wearing it. He wore a smiths de-Luxe because he trusted it as more reliable!
I actually have a wonderful smiths deluxe in 9ct with some gorgeous patina, cracking piece
I like sky dweller looks cool..
Very good video.. Amazing, i disagree with milgauss (maybe biased) + i like cellini and i think it deserves a good place (unbiased)
The Day Date is on the bucketlist
This was really fun!
the SUB is a man’s man’s watch. 5512,5513 are awesome.
You really make laugh…..how about the Cellini??? The fact is, that I have just about one of each…..including 2 Dayjusts and 2 Daytonas with different dials and bezels…..when it comes to watches, specifically Rolex…..too many, it’s never enough!!!
What does your bragging bring the discussion?
Hahahaha…..I’m just commenting in the tone and the spirit of the whole video. I thought it was pretty funny…..and my bragging is just pure fantasy!!!
The SD43 is stunning, there's nothing sexier out there, not even the Sub. The YM is another interesting derivative of the Sub, albeit classier, more elegant and refined. The only Sub I like and actually own is the TT blue Sub 41. There goes my trio.
The Explorer is the most boring Rolex ever made, worse than the standard black Sub in fact. But hey, I own a few "boring" watches myself. Sometimes boring is nice, like kind of reassuring and comforting. No surprises, no oddities, won't stand out in any way, shape or form.
This video highlights the value of life experience!
Don’t really get what you mean by that but sure! xD
No diver uses a wristwatch. They use dive computers.
I had to agree with you completely
You are a man of taste I see!
Pretty spot on, mate. Pretty spot on.
Much appreciated, I see you are a man of class
the DD is a classic. Go Jack Nicklaus. The GOAT.
Yachtmaster?? Ew No? It does resemble the Submariner, but I love it...
