Don’t go to an AD until they start showing respect, after all it’s we the customer who are paying out all this money so we shouldn’t be assessed or questioned if we’re suitable or not.

The comments are far better than the video. I bought my Sub in 2009 when you could just walk into an AD and walk out with one. That scratched my itch. There is no way anyone should do these crazy steps - this is supposed to be a luxury buying experience, not a job interview. I am more than happy to give my business (and have) to Omega, Glashutte Original, IWC and yes, even Tudor. Rolex created this situation and now cannot get themselves out of it b/c of the grey market dealers.

Never forget that the person deciding if you are eligible for this watch could never afford one - its like the waiter in a 3 michellin star restauraunt who has been taught to give you bullshit about what you are about to eat is the guy who invented and cooked the dish. So glad the grey market is now so close to the AD prices that you can bypass all that bollocks and pay pretty much the same as they are asking. The time is soon coming where the AD will show the buyer respect instead of distain.

I got a call 6 months later and got offered another model and I did exactly what you mentioned. I said it wasn't my style and it probably wouldn't get worn. I thanked them and let them know I'd rather wait. 1 month later, I got a call for the one I wanted and accepted it. No prior purchase at the AD, jewelry, nothing. Very happy with them and my rep. Since then, I've purchaed 2 more from my rep. Patience is also key.

I’m just straight up with my AD. Get in. Get out. I do this before they upsell you. I know sales. I’ve been in sales for years. Customer is king. I show respect to everybody regardless of how they look because I have encountered people who looked like they can’t afford something yet were the biggest spenders. I approach people first and talk to them as good salesperson should. Find out who they are. What they like and so forth. Ask probing questions. I find it rare that a customer tells me about themselves and what they like. You as a salesperson should be the one who initiates. What I used to do in sales is I have a small notepad and when I initiate a conversation with a customer, I take notes so I can tailor to their wants. That’s how you show respect and established a huge clientele doing this kind of thing. Major repeat business.

Without doubt, supply is increasingly hugely. My local AD 2 months ago had nothing but exhibition pieces . Two weeks ago, they without any exaggeration , 40% in the window were for sale as in walk-ins. OPs in black, various date just's, various sky dwellers, root beers, root beers, root beers all rose gold, and a few more. The increase in supply is being seen across so many ADs. Oh and numerous yachtmasters , in platinum, stainless steel, and rose gold. The flippers have all but dissapeared, grey market dealers are holding/cannot sell inventory they have had for a year or more. Their fault they are still asking for mad covid prices.

It's only a matter of time before you'll be able to buy the watch you want. Why would you sell your soul to a sales rep just to give them your money.
Prices are slowly reducing and it's only a matter of time before you'll be able to purchase the timepiece you'd like.
Playing the AD game and buying jewellery you don't want is a pointless exercise where the only winner is the AD.
    Supply and Demand

Rolex make around a million watches every year, effectively mass-produced. Yes, they are good, solid, well-constructed watches. I bought a couple from my local AD a few years ago and the purchase experience was a simple and painless process back then. Would I go through this ridiculous bs to get one now? Absolutely not! The thought of sucking up to a salesperson so that they maybe, possibly, if I'm really fortunate, decide whether I'm worthy enough to be allowed to spend my money in their establishment borders on lunacy. They should change their name from 'AD' to 'MAD' (maybe authorised dealer). I'm quite happy with my Omega/Breitling/Longines/Hamilton/Seiko/Casio purchases. Thank you very much and goodbye.

There is no wait list and there will never be a wait list for watches that trade significantly higher than Msrp!!! Does anyone believe that a Rolex authorized dealer is going to sell a Panda Daytona that trades for double Msrp or a Gmt Batgirl or Pepsi that trade $10k over Msrp to someone that is not loyal to that authorized dealer and has no purchase history whatsoever???? One has to establish a relationship with the Rolex authorized dealer and have significant purchase history KEY PURCHASE HISTORY AND RELATIONSHIP PERIOD!!!!!! I am going to my local Rolex authorized dealer and ask for a Rainbow Daytona, a Panda Daytona, Batgirl Gmt, a Pepsi Gmt, a Sky-Dweller blue dial and one with a green dial and my local Rolex authorized dealer is going to laugh and so will I !!!!! KEY RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR ROLEX AUTHORIZED DEALER AND PURCHASE HISTORY!!!

Don't, find a grey market dealer you like to waste your money with in the UK, the guy above seems like a nice chap or if you want someone with a bit more scale, (no offense buddy), I suggest GMG.
All the "big pieces" are trading below retail now anyways that will ever be able to be attainable to us...spoiled but still normal humans.
If you want to learn how to "sell yourself" do that in your career or somewhere useful...selling is a powerful skill but not with an AD, they generally aren't even particulary clever, i work in pretty high end sales, and i found trying to sell to them extremely dull lol.

No need to carry balls with the ADs. Time.has now changed. Pieces are more available and packages deal with rolexes are getting less stringent.
At the end of the day, either u need to be very famous, or spender at AD outlets. The rest of the tips shown dun matter.
Of cos one also needs to show respect and be humble in anything you do.

Yeah the games suck but it is a fact,
Unfortunately. Several other high end brands do the same. However your dignity is worth much more, in my opinion. Move on to another brand. Plus many of us can only afford that 1 luxury watch purchase and cannot buy other stuff to move up in favor, for something that is not even a guarantee in the end anyway. Cheers.

It's amazing that you need to make videos about being a normal fucking person when you enter a store. I just go in and be completely honest as to who I am and why I want to buy a particular watch and how it will complement what I already have in my collection. I talk to them both in store and on events like a normal fucking person about watches and other stuff. If you have to make up a story why you want a watch you're probably looking to flip anyway. And last as a normal human being you don't go into a nerd rage when they can't offer you the watch that you want exactly when you want it. Patience.

Rolex really has shot itself in the foot with the way they’ve chosen to go to market with this crazy (And I’m going to say it) insulting and archaic sales tactics. I’m more than able to afford a 18k Rolex Daytona oysterflex, in fact I’ve visited several ADs over the last two months to do just that and each time I’ve been treated like something someone has trod in. For this reason I will never buy a Rolex.
What world is this guy living in? “Drag your family in to discuss holidays”. Really. Honestly, You and people like you are the cause of this mess.
People. Vote with your feet. When all these ADs have no outlets for their stock because all the grey market dealers are overstocked and no longer buying from them, Rolex will soon want the “normal” general public back into their “museum” ADs stores.

I can't believe I climbed Mt. Everest and didn't milk this for a Rolex! What a total waste of time and effort. Now what?? Now that I know that I have to leverage everything special that I do to get a watch, what am I supposed to do? You seem to have the marathon angle covered. Maybe there's a seat available on the next flight into space? Does anyone happen to have the SpaceX phone number? Anyone?

I was told I wasn't meant to be in a London AD? I was wearing shorts and an old t-shirt and was wearing a Casio Mudmaster. All I wanted was a Submariner. They made me feel well unwanted like an eggy fart. I did drop my Centurion on the counter, the man quickly gave it back to me looking at card closely as he probably never seen one, and then I was ushered away in a very fussy awkward manner.
I just sold a 1962 Explorer. It has the super rare black dial with gilted numbers. It has just Swiss NOT Swiss Made and has the exclamation dot under the No.6. What a super rare vintage watch.

Come on why would a customer be licking thier boots as if you’re doing them a favor. Then what’s the point of making watches if they’re controlling the sells like drugs.
Breitling ADs are the coolest, they treat you like the customer and not like you’re in for a job interview

And this is the kind of bullshit that makes me glad the highest end watch I've ever wanted was the one I have now; a Seiko SKX009. There's absolutely no way in this reality or any other, I'm going into a store with thousands of dollars in cash to buy a watch, just to be expected to kiss someone's ass, or ask personal shit of someone I couldn't care less about. I'd rather scoot over to Wally World and spend 20 bucks on a cheap Casio. Yes, it's a Rolex.. you're buying the name and the imagined prestige... not quality. People forget, it's a watch. All it does is tell the time. Hell, even Apple treats their customers better. Rolex is dogshit. Overpriced, overhyped, steaming dogshit, and people need to let them go bankrupt like we're doing with Starbucks and Kellogg's.

I think Rolex is a great watch brand, but because of all this nonsense, I won't be wearing a Rolex again anytime soon. I'm not looking for a relationship with my AD, I like to wear a nice watch. The pretense that Rolex has been displaying for years is unprecedented. I think there are many beautiful niche watch brands that do not need these strange practices and are even less bling-bling. Win win.

I bought my OP 41 silver dial from an AD in NYC that only sells Rolex (or Tudor which is attached to the same store). I can't buy anything other than another Rolex. But I do go in every other month or so say 'hi'. Spoke with my AD about the new releases from Watches and Wonders. Smooshing I think it's called. Talk about anything but another watch and in conversation because I'm lefty I was able to try on the GMT II Sprite for lefties. I mentioned that bonuses is coming up in a few months and my AD said just text him and let him know when I'm ready for the Sprite. And just like that I've built a relationship where within a span of a year and half I may very well have bought two Rolex's from the same AD without any nighmarish experiences. I've found Rolex to be very nice and welcoming to me. I'm not a 'rich' man. I work in IT for Sony Pictures and just enjoy Rolex watches.
