    I would recommend to keep on waiting for the market to keep on crashing as low as possible before purchasing any Rolex.
    The flippers are deserving to lose money.
    The AD are deserving to learn humility and respect toward their clients.
    Rolex must be accountable for its total lack of intervention.
    The watch market needs to be sanitized, collectionners should hold their purchases as long as needed.
    I'm personally patient and I will wait until necessary.

    I paid $1,675 for my SS Submariner with date, 16610, in November of 1989 from the Grafstein & Co. in Santa Ana, CA. They used to run ads in the back of various automotive magazines I read at the time (in college) and they beat most Rolex dealers on price at the time. It has been my daily other than the occasional cheap Casio to wear while traveling or working in my shop on vehicles. It has been an enjoyable constant in my life that I don’t regret purchasing.

    My family adopted these in the early nineties my dad used to make us take one out if we went on nights out... Which would really annoy my mom because it meant there was one less phone at home😅... the crazy thing was you could rarely get a signal even if you were stood right underneath the base station (usually at public bus train stations and post offices) it seems their capacity wasn't even up to the 10 or 15 customers they actually had. This was the first example of a 'one update and you're done' technology. The telcos were rolling out early cell phones at the time. So the rabbit phone fell into obscurity very quickly. It was also very expensive. I often think of rabbit as a bit like the 'paging' version of cell phones... God now I feel old.

Maybe Rolex just isn't for me, but there is absolutely NO way that I'd pay more than retail just because Rolex isn't able to keep up with customer demand. I won't be playing the game with ADs of 'buy our crap' before finally being allowed the watch that I actually wanted.

      I don't understand this anger and resentment at Rolex for not making more watches. They make plenty of watches. You see them everywhere. They're by far the biggest selling swiss watch brand. If Rolex had decided that it's in their long-term interest to keep the brand somewhat exclusive and NOT to flood the market with even MORE watches, I salute them for that.

    Hey, I'm a little new to this but who sells at the market price? Where can you find reseller?

    • @gillesa630
      @gillesa630 Před 4 měsíci +1

      market price is the average of actual sales, in a recent period of time. So probably lots of people sell at the market price; but there will be some sellers with higher prices and some with lower prices.
      In fact if a watch is very rare, it's possible that no one sells at the market price. E.g.: If there are just 4 of a given reference sold recently, at prices of $9k, $9.5k, $10.5k and $11k, then the "market price" will be $10k even though no one offered that exact price.

      Do Rolex dealers sell at MSRP?
      If Rolex finds out they are selling new watches above the retail, they will most certainly pull the plug on that dealer. Same goes if they discover the dealer is selling to flippers.

    I just picked up my Explorer 40 from my AD and could not be happier. I didn't buy it for investment reasons but I also find it is surprising that a new released Steel Sports model with such history isn´t a bigger success which can be valued by prices on the grey market. Im glad it is still flying under the radar of most as I am not going to sell it for ages. Thanks for the Video Teddy and keep it up!
