    One of the things that amazes me about the Phantom is how little muzzle flip there is, even in the absence of weight compared to the all metal SP-01, Tactical, and even the Shadow 2. This is another fine video KSGG. I really enjoyed it!

      I agree SPPG! I think having the rails inside the frame really help. It's no Shadow 2, but it will certainly hold its own. Thank you and cheers brother!

    I think its mostly what you get use to . If you carry a different gun every day it could be an issue but if you work nights it would be good to let the sights set in the light during the day.as you would not need glowing sight during the day. I like the idea of the slide riding inside the frame it wood seem to be more stable in the frame. All modern guns are of excellent in manufacture and CZ a lot longer so its all good. Good vid. thanks

    Had too put a grip sleeve on mine to make it suit my hand better. Quickly became one of my favorites of all. Accurate, comfortable to shoot, not too keen on packing it around though. The bottom of that grip will rub your inside of your arm raw with or without a shirt sleeve, so not great for EDC in my book. Not really had time to explore options to improve that though.

    This curious mind has wanted to see this. Phantom is intriguing. Don't know that I've ever seen a factory refurbished CZ around here. Good grab. Pretty close to the P09 in size? CZ ergonomics are just so great.
    The front serrations added to the new P07 were a smart upgrade. I am still wild about that gun.
    I stay torn between adding another polymer frame vs going with a classic steel frame next. I'm guessing it will come down to finding the right deal first. Another great thorough review KS.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 6 lety

      Thank you very much InSight! It's very similar in size to the P09. The trigger may be one of the more noticeable differences in the Phantom with that heavily curved version vs the Omega on the P09. The traditional SP-01s with the steel frames are great too but this may be a bit more carryable if that's a consideration. Cheers brother!

    Picked up a used one its pretty nice I really prefer the DA/SA de-cocker pistols. I did notice the trigger pull is right to the back of the pull. It breaks and fires great but what stands out is I have to pull the trigger like 98% of the full travel then it breaks. None of my other handguns break anywhere near that far back. Want to swap out the sights tho for some hi viz orange front night sights I see meprolight makes some so trying to track them down. Great gun it's light and shares mags with my 75B so another bonus

    Great review. I've had the Phantom before. Back when it was first released. Was one of my favorites. I was really upset when it got discontinued and I couldn't replace it a few years back. But I do plan to get another now that it's returned. And this will be replacing the P-09 I sold off. A lot ppl complain about it not being the Omega system and the old school hook trigger. But I've been so used to that for the last 20 years that it doesn't bother me in the least. Although if you and a few other insist upon showing it off so much. You may make me pick one up sooner than I planned. Again great job.
    Also the mag release is swappable. It's very similar to how you do it on the Tanfoglio Witness line. As you know I like to switch all my carry guns mag releases to the right hand side. Even though I shoot primarily right handed. Meaning my trigger finger is used to drop the mag during reloads. For the slide release being swappable? No. On the left hand side there is no cut out for the release tab portion of the slide release lever. And even if you flipped it to the right hand side the tab would be facing downward. However you could adapt the RH side of an ambi release to fit unto the end of the existing slide release. Or you could have have a custom one made up with the help of a competent gunsmith or machinist

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you very much Matteo! I was wondering about the slide release being swappable and upside down. That makes sense. I am still warming up to the hook trigger though this one feels much better than the P-01. CZ really does make an outstanding gun! Cheers brother

    • @MatteoSixSeventyFour
      @MatteoSixSeventyFour Před 6 lety

      KSGunGuy Best way that I have learned to deal with the hook type tigger over the years is to run the edge of the trigger up against the krook of my fingers joint. That way the middle of the pad of my finger is more toward the other side of the trigger. And then treat the trigger press similar to a DA revolver press. In fact my dry fire practice on them is nothing but that longer heavier DA pull. I put a small o-ring in front of the firing pin to reduce wear or impact fatigue from the hammer. Cheaper and easier than getting snap caps. I personally find it's always easier to train with a heavier pull. Because adapting to the lighter pull is a cinch. Oh and focus the leverage of the press towards the bottom of the trigger hook not the center. Hope that helps.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 6 lety +1

    I've looked at this one for years, just never took the plunge. The only thing that's sorta kept me from grabbing one of these is the "super-hook" trigger. Not a fan of extra curved triggers, although the new M&P 2.0's surprised me. That was the main reason I sold off my P07 Duty, but the P07 tactical is much nicer. I would like to hold one of these and test out the trigger before laying down some ca$h. Another great video brother, have a nice weekend.

    Also phantom has the mooshiest trigger in ca family, but it is still very accurate for me. Slightly more snappy then other cz's but stays flatter then the sig p226. Feels thinner for smaller hands. But the sights... are pretty cheap and oddly disappointing. But still love the gun and can't let go lol

  • @FromPlsNerf
    @FromPlsNerf Před 6 lety +1

    I like polymer frames. I also love my PCR because of how rounded the slide and everything is. Feels so nice. This seems like a great full size option for me. I have a P-07 but I'm not the biggest fan of how blocky it is so the P-09 wouldn't be for me in terms of a full size. I also prefer the decocker on the PCR/SP-01 tac because you drop it from the rear of the control not the front like the P-07/09 and other Omega versions. I had to use the reach reduction kit on my PCR because the DA trigger was so far forward. I wonder if CGW offers the same kit for the Phantom

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 6 lety

      That’s awesome Nerf! I’d love to try a PCR at some point. They are really cool looking. That makes sense on the decocker, especially on the P07/P09. Great question on the Cajun reach reduction kit. They probably do. Thank you and cheers!

    @CaveWyatt Před 6 lety

    Oh, yes. CZ does make a very comfortable pistol which confuses me as to why they made the P-10c feel like a Glock (he said, as disparagingly as possible). The only thing I can figure is that they really wanted to catch the eye of Glock owners. Anyway, grabbing the slide does feel a little different. There is not as much there and I had to try it several times on the new P-07 to get used to it.
    Subjective Alert Warning! I don’t care for night sights but love the glow-y sights CZ and HK use so much.
    And well said! I think the recoil is a “perceived” thing; due to all the discussion about bore axis, I was surprised that my new P-07 felt like it transmitted more recoil to me than my P320’s do. Shouldn’t happen with this low bore axis being compared to a very high bore axis like Sig makes. “Perception”, I guess.
    I’m also not a huge fan of that originally shaped trigger. You might want to try switching to the Omega trigger. Whiiich you just mentioned, lol! Can’t wait for the P-07 comparison!

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 6 lety

      Thank you very much Jake! I agree, the P10 is definitely geared towards Glock owners. Great gun though! That’s fascinating about the P320 vs the P07 recoil though it makes sense. I’d love to do the Omega trigger in the Phantom. I think that would really push it to stardom. Cheers brother!

    • @TheBigToe69
      @TheBigToe69 Před 6 lety

      The Omega system IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the standard 75 fire control group. Only way to get rid of that fish hook trigger is to upgrade it to an 85 combat trigger by Cajun Gun Works or Cz Custom. Omega trigger groups are completely different and not compatible with the regular 75 series

      KSGunGuy I know your a huge CZ fan as I am. We need to contact Angus or Stewart at CZCs and see if they are capable in convincing CZUB to make a single stack personal defense pistol. I know it would sell for certain, I personally would preorder today!! That's a market they have yet to tap. I also understand they have military and police contracts to fulfill. May I ask what they are doing to it and how much it costs? I have one as well and I've heard of Cajun Gun Works but im not sure what exactly they do to the Phantom.

    They're on sale right now for $399....very tempting. But I already have a CZ P-09...not sure if this would be considered a better pistol?

      That's a great price! I prefer the Phantom over the P09 all day. Thank you and cheers!

    Great reveiw & information as usual , his gun lends to hallmark CZ. functions with its classic design & ergonomics, as for carrying is it to large to consider? Thanx. P.S.

      Thank you Pete! For carry, it’s doable but on the large side. Cheers!

    I've noticed that you need to be careful putting aftermarket sights on CZ's. I was looking for sights for the 07 and there's more than one height although they all "fit"

    What do you think... Phantom vs p09?

  • @kingbaldwiniv5409
    @kingbaldwiniv5409 Před 6 lety +1

    It is a fulcrum arm, a lever. I don't care who you are, giving the forces working against you a lever INCREASES the forces being used against you because you give those forces a lever.
    It is basic physics.

    @KSGunGuy Hey, I'd like to pass something along to you directly. I'm not on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, so I was wondering if I could send you a message via email. It's a little time sensitive, so if you could get back to me here at your first convenience, it would be most appreciated. I'm looking for your opinion on something. I'm trying to bring attention to the gun community in large re: our gun rights. Let me know. Thanks, Milehighed52801.
