    Very impressed. One comment, when you were describing the takedown of the SP-01 Phantom, you neglected to mention about lining up of the line with the circle at the back of the slide, before being able to push through the take-down lever. I bought the Phantom a couple of weeks ago and found that by doing that, pushing it through is very straightforward.

    I have a P07 and have shot the Phantom several times. The Phantom is probably the most accurate pistol I have ever shot to date. For me the P07 is more practical day to day because it is plenty accurate enough and it is the right size to conceal. Both are equally reliable. I would like to add the Phantom and CZ P10 to my small collection but hard to justify when each one is so good.

      I’ve also got both, and love them. You’re right. The sp01 is ungodly accurate, and I shoot it better than I’ve shot any pistol before, including high end 2011’s. That being said, the p07 is phenomenal as well, plenty accurate and controllable, and conceals pretty well. I can also conceal and do carry the phantom, but for the difference, I carry the p07 more

    In my opinion the the phantom is the best full size duty gun around. I mean if your a police officer or just a guy that likes to open carry in a holster I don't think there is a better gun than the phantom for that. It also makes a for a really good nightstand option. However with that said the P-07 is better for people who want a concealed carry option...

  • @raulfernandez9111
    @raulfernandez9111 Před 6 lety +24

    I have a P07 and it's my favorite gun. The P07/09 designs are built more modern from the ground up. Better slide finish, Front serrations, Flatter trigger, Bigger controls. The phantom I feel is an old design trying to be salvaged by going polymer. I've held the phantom but never shot it. It's a little bit bigger and more comparable to the P09.
    I guess the only thing I don't like about it is that there is not much to grab onto when racking the slide. P07 has more slide real estate.
    Also if you plan to add a red dot I would say the P07/09 are better candidates since the slide is more wider and squared at the rear.
    And lastly the phantom trigger guard is smaller too, could be a problem if wearing thick gloves.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 6 lety +6

      Thank you for sharing Raul! I agree, the P-07 seems to have a more modern look to it, but the Phantom still looks pretty good as well. The P-07 definitely has more real estate to grab on to. You make some great points indeed. Cheers brother!

      I’m a big cz fan but I’m not a fan of the p07/p09. Especially the omegas. The triggers stack terribly. A CGW upgrade helps but they still aren’t great triggers. In this respect the sp01/p01/p10 blow it out of the water imo.

    A good review. I am back into the Plastic CZs. Recently got a P07 OD Green and a P09 UG. The P09 somehow has a smoother trigger but Ive taken to the P07. Its like the Jack of all Trades CZ. Good at everything but maybe not the best at anything. Only complaint is the slick back strap.
    Tonight I won a like new Phantom at the local auction. $405 so I pick it up tomorrow. I couldnt help but grin a little watching all your brass ricochet off the diamond plate. That happens too me when I go to the indoor range. Smacks the finish off some of my guns pretty good. It was a fun video to watch.

    I have both. Right now it would be the P-07. Never had an issue with it. Took the Phantom to the range and after 245 rounds the trigger pin backed out and the trigger spring dropped out. the P-07 is a great carry gun. They are both accurate. The Phantom was just a bit more accurate for me before the pin issue. My daily carry is currently the P-07. But I love them both. Can't wait to get my Phantom back for another range trip!
    PS - The factory sights are better on the P-07.

    The best way I found to take a CZ down is to press the muzzle down on the table untill you line up the marks, then push the takedown lever pin with your right index finger as you pull it out with your left hand.
    It is a lot easier than pushing it out with a mag and it is easier to line the marks up.

    Metal weight and the shape of the 75 family of grips matters. The base model 75 is a gold standard since 1975 !
    All these 75 variants have the basic fill-your-palm perfect ergonomics. And bonus of replaceable screw on grip panels to your liking.
    Textures, materials, colors, the grip panels are a buffet. I love my p-07 & p-09 Suppressor Ready pistols but wish the grips had 75 ergos. That's the loss with polymer design.
    VP9, P30, PDPs have it right in the ergonomics designs.
    Too many great choices.

    The 9mm P07 is my super trusted & dependable ( although not used in a situation of duress yet, so appraisal is based on 'historic usage ) EDC. The ergonomics are excellent, and it fitted me perfectly. It has chewed through a couple of thousand of rounds without so much as a hiccup. It is a great carry option, stored away safely on my person in condition 2, no safety required, and ready for a 1/2 pull to dispense with an assailant. The option to switch between De-cock or Safety is definitely a stroke of genius and changing between those two takes no tools and 5 minutes. Trigger *feel* is considerably nicer with safety as opposed to de-cocker. I polished up the internals and shot it and this all helps to make the trigger feel great. Fit and finish is excellent, especially the external finish. two unfortunate drops and not a single mark, no sign of any holster wear ( unlike my Glock 20, which comes from the factory with that horrific finish on the slide, IMHO ) Very accurate. Sights retain their glow as new after 2.5 years. To sum up: I love it, I trust it to do it's part to protect my family if required - no question. If you're in the market for this type of hammer fired pistol, I CANNOT recommend this pistol high enough. Eddie

    Good video as always KS. But I don't think the comparison was exactly fair. Because I'd choose the P-07 due to it being the more versatile and carry friendly compact. Now were this a P-09 vs the Phantom. I'd pick the Phantom hands down as I've owned both. And think the Phantom is just a better gun overall.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 6 lety +7

      Lol. I've caught some grief for that but I maintain that the premise behind the series is comparing guns whether similar or different. • @MatteoSixSeventyFour
      @MatteoSixSeventyFour Před 6 lety +2

      KSGunGuy Oh believe me I do get what you are saying. And as someone who's owned a couple P-09's the comparison whether you use the P-07 or -09 is virtually the same. Minus the obvious differences of course. But taking what you had on hand, a compact vs a FS. Whether the FS is a better gun if I'm just being honest. The compact wins...Because its a compact and can fill more roles and be carried more. Especially if you can swap in the same/similar higher capacity mag that the FS offers. And IMO the gun you are willing to carry more/daily in whatever attire and will get used in more roles is far more valuable. Even if there is a better but less used FS option available.

    • @KSGunGuy01

    Im curious why the Phantom got discontinued.. it always seemed like a solid performer that could have made its way into the polyner hall of fame. I tried to purchase one on Bud's Gun Shop a few years ago. It sat in my wishlist for a long time. One day the price dipped down to almost $380.... Yeah... Bud's sent me an email saying the price was an error and cancelled my order. Never did get my Phantom 😢

    Nice! I was looking forward to this version of "If I could only have one". I'm a big CZ fan albeit I already "have just one" in a form of a standard steel CZ75. It's one of my favorites to shoot, as I'm extremely accurate with it due to its low bore axis and low recoil. I'm looking closely at both of these along with the P-10C as my next CZ. I'd really want to own a Shadow2 which is on my wish list, but it won't be this year.
    Thanks KSGG for your work and great reviews! Look forward to more. Have a Merry Christmas!!!

    I have the p07 duty and the phantom. The phantom for maybe 8 or 10 years the p07 for 6 to 8 years.
    Thru the phantom about 60k round and the p07 about half of that. Both are better shooter than me.
    Phantom got truglow sight within a few months , p07 still have original sights (U shape rear, dot in front) both fit very well MY hand. Only issue with the phantom is when you shoot a lot the mag release get sticky (I tried to take it apart and polish it a bit but that didn't help) 1 issue with the p07 duty is if you have a full mag, 16 rds and put 1 in the pipe first it will be very hard to lock the mag in place so keep it at 1 in pipe and 15 in mag the phantom no issues for 18+1.

      I know this is an old comment, but I'm just wondering why you would go with the p07 for duty as opposed to the phantom? The phantom holds more rounds, has a longer barrel for increased velocity, and the longer sight radius. In addition, for duty you wouldn't be concealed carrying, which is where the p07 has an apparent advantage.
      So what makes you choose the p07 or p09?
      Is there a difference in reliability or durability? I'm genuinely curious as I'm a police officer/detective and was considering choosing one of these as my duty firearm. Reliability is my absolute #1 priority, with durability being my #2. I would be open carrying, so size doesn't make a real difference. Shooting fast/getting back on target as well as ammunition capacity is also important to me.
      In my observation the phantom seems more fit for duty, however I'm not speaking from experience, only from watching videos. So I'm genuinely curious why you would go the other route.
      Appreciate it man!

    I’ve always wanted a Phantom, but they are hard to find. They also seem to be over “Shadowed” by the steel frame versions, P07, P10c & all the other polymer striker fired pistols on the market. To me you get the best of both worlds with the Phantom, Old school CZ 75 with New age Polymer frame. Plus they take standard CZ 75 mags. I know there are a few aftermarket parts for these, but I just wish there were more custom parts and builds based on these guns.

    Own a P07 and really the only thing I am not loving is the grip texture. The back strap need more texture. I really prefer the grip texture of the M2.0 and Sig P320. However, some Talon grips solved that problem for me on my P07.
    I would agree with you as well on the P07 in that I have to focus a little more when shooting it. As for natural pint of aim I seem to be a little high with it. What I mean is when I bring the P07 up to aim I usually have the front sight a little high and have to bring it down. I seem to point more natural with my SP-01 Tactical as far a CZs go.

I'd gotten into 40 cal guns and had bought an Springfield xd, walther pps ,sig 226 equinox, H&k usp compact, a Beretta 90 two polymer frame all in 40 cal l before the CZ 75BD satin nickel finish. THE CZ was by far the best shooter, best value, and best ergonomics out of the box. I WAS HOOKED! Next I bought a SP06 compact and the love deepened... again amazing handgun and dead solid reliable. Sp06 compact outshot a service glock at twice the distance which was being shot by a Texas State trooper in the next stall..I've been eying a SP07 for a ling time now or an SP09 . As you state that you tend to pull to the right on the P07. Your gun grip seems to favour a longer slide gun which hides this issue. I can only assume you shoot to the right at longer distances with the Phantom. That would be a you problem and not a gun issue. Just a question, why do you need to sling shot the slide when there is a slide lock release you can use? Insert mag hit the slide lock and the round chambers. No need to manipulate the slide!

    Between the Urban Grey P-01 and Phantom which would you choose?

      Probably the P01 since it would be the Omega. Thank you and cheers!

    The appropriate comparison to be made here is between the P-09 and SP-01 Phantom. The P-07 is the compact version and is comparable to the CZ P-01 (which is not offered in a polymer frame). The SP-01 is a full-size, duty gun with a longer sight radius, and heavier slide.

      Not sure about appropriate or not, but I did I mention the P-09 in the video. Sadly I don't have one to compare. Good thing the series says like or unlike guns! Aside from size, they are very comparable. Thank you and cheers!
