    I've owned a 26 & currenyly own 3 other Glocks. I just purchased a VP9SK yesterday, put 200 rounds through & WOW. Unlike Glock, no upgrades needed to the sights, trigger, extended controls, etc. Yes, it's more expensive & a little bigger than a 26, but the added weight makes it a better shooter I think. I'm a total Glock fanboy but this VP9SK is AMAZING & Im going to try to everyday carry it.

      I have only ever owned the Glock 26 as the EDC Subcompact. I'm glad to see your opinion, as I'm looking to swap my G26 for something comparable but feels easier to use with sweaty hands, which I can't help. Example, the "ears" on the back slide of the VP9sk make it looks easier to rack the slide, the field-strip process also looks so much easier on the VP9SK, etc And the it's got a rail for accessories (lights, laser, etc)

    I own a few 9mm handguns. The two I like the best for different reasons are my Sig Sauer P229 combat, and the H&K VP9SK. They definitely feel different. Not that one is better than the other, but a different mechanical feel. I carry the VP9SK as an EDC. I cannot say much about the Glock. With their popularity, you cannot deny that people like them. Whether it's for price or functionality there's a reason people stand behind them vehemently. My father is in Law Enforcement and swore by Glocks. A couple years back at hunting camp he shot my Sig Sauer. He' went out and bought a Sig and sold all his glocks. When looking for a firearm to purchase, it's very easy to get lost in all the specs/information. One thing to consider is how a gun feels to you personally (in your hand), and how it shoots. I hear a lot of comments about "size and weight" for EDC. I bought the VP9SK because my Sig was a little heavy/bulky to carry when I hike. I am someone who likes a lot of "functionality" when I buy products. I found the H&K had the right combination of that for me. I liked the rail system, ambidextrous slide lock, and magazine releases, night sites, and magazine extenders. I also like how easy it is to take apart the VP9SK with not having to use the trigger to field strip the gun for cleaning. If you're looking for someone to spell out those functions who owns a VP9SK, I hope my comment was helpful.

    I'm with you big time on your "winner". I picked up a VP9SK a week ago (stock -- for $518!) and had it to the range yesterday. I could not believe how well it fit my hand and my eye! I usually have trouble (have to really concentrate) on a "ragged hole" drill but I was able to do it at speed; after 5-6 shots, the others were just going thru the hole! I REALLY like the trigger. Reset was short, tactile and audible.
    Now, having said all that, I would add that the fit to MY hand was superb (wear size large gloves, long fingers) which likely helped with good shooting. I shoot my Glock 19 well, too but it (Gen 3) just doesn't fit my hand terribly comfortably. I came home from 200+ rounds in the SK and told my wife (only half in jest), "I'm ready to sell all of my other pistols!". The final part that surprised me was the flat base plate magazine. I usually avoid those (tend to abrade my pinky) but I figured it was what I had to use ....and didn't notice at all whether or not my pinky was on or off the grip! I'm THRILLED with this addition to it's big brother.

    Is not about the Glock is bad, I have Glocks and I like Glocks are great guns but the VP9SK is a modern pistol, had 7 years of tests and development form H&K, is a subcompact-ish, with a 13 or 15 rds magazine it fits more into the G19 size department. I take the VP9SK all day, the grip fits great, the trigger is better and the gun dont need nothing out the box, even the signs are decent.

    As a 31 yr veteran police officer I would offer my opinion as a professional who has carried many different types of semi autos. First of all, PRICE should never be a factor…how valuable is your life? ONLY quality should be factored-PERIOD!!
    The Glock is a workhorse designed to be a very basic and non-customized fit for any user.
    The HK is superior in every way; build quality, ergot, trigger pull and retention of value down the road. It’s a once in a lifetime gun which will last forever and that will stand up to a comparison and virtually surpass the challenge of any other pistol…can’t say that about too many other guns out there. In my opinion, the only other gun that even comes close is the Sig P320 X Compact, but I would still go with the VP9SK. Forget about the Walter PPQSK…the HKVP9SK is THE BEST!! One can also use a full sized magazine with a spacer and now you have a full sized grip and 15 +1. Insert the flush magazine and now you have a true CCW sized gun.
    Forget what anyone else says….this HKVP9SK is the ONLY 9mm to consider…dropping the mic now.

    I totally agree with your choice. I own mostly HK because of how they feel and shoot. They feel great in my hands and shoot well. If you love me Glocks, awesome. That is what is so great about having choices. I prefer HK’s. I bought a Glock and gave it to my wife. Same thing with my M&P V-Tac, it just doesn’t feel as well made as my HK’s. Still a great gun but I prefer the HK. I tried a couple of CZ’s and the texturing was way too aggressive for me (I still want to fire a Shadow 2). Get what you like and enjoy. Happy Shooting.

    I think the glock 26, as a concealed carry weapon, wins for practicality. However the HK has a certain quality appeal that is hard to quantify. If size is paramount the glock wins, but if you can take the extra dimensions on the HK its a real sexy option!
    Depending on dress, the size difference may not matter. In the summer the small difference may become a thing though. For most of us, the g26 is already a big gun for concealed carry, when compared to the the g43, s&w shields, etc.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  Před 6 lety

      Excellent point about the practicality of a 26. It's uniquely small for a double stack which adds to the appeal. As for the HK, the build quality is top notch and I agree about taking the extra dimensions. Thank you and cheers!

    My dilemma: VP9SK LE for $650 or Blue Label Gen 4 Glock 26 w/ NS for $455. A $195 difference. I'd like the HK, but it's hard to justify the price gap. There's no doubt that the HK is the overall better gun, but is it $195 better? Damn it.

    When you held up the rear view of the two pistols, the shortness of the Glock 26 grip was unbelievable! It was so short and my hands are so big and meaty that I picked right then and there, despite the fact I'm not a big fan of the HK.
    I have fired the Glock 32 in 357 Sig, and I could barely hold the thing, it was a turbo teacup, I had no purchase. The grip was to short and fat.
    I did like the sights you put on the 26 however.

  • @herrmahlzahn6924
    @herrmahlzahn6924 Před 6 lety +1

    I vote for the Glock. No I don't like Glock guns actually but in this comparison. If you looking into a sub compact gun you want a small gun. I don't hang a riding mover on a compact gun at all. With the VP SK (German for Schmal Kompackt) I am looking on a big ole gun that is not SubCompakt at all.
    In a case that conceal-ability is a minor concern, I could carry a M&P 9 and have 16+1 rounds. Yes I carried almost concealed a M&P 9, but In comparison case I'm looking into a subcompact that I can conceal carry on a belt, I am definitively not looking for a small brick for a belt. I want a small gun for CC in a IWB Holster that is light and small as possible. Serious. I carry a gun since 30 years religiously and know size and weight matters.
    My winner is in this case the Glock. I can't believe I say that but well, I would.

  • @cbwelch4
    @cbwelch4 Před rokem

    When you factor in sights, the value equals out or at least close enough. If you want the triggers to be equal that’s where the Hk edges the Glock in value. The win is you don’t have to touch the Hk. It comes fantastic out of the box. You can spend extra for the factory tritiums, which I did. I absolutely love my VP9. As far as build quality, if you own both, which I do, you know which one has beefier rails and better machining on the internals. Where the trigger breaks on the Hk is far more optimal to my taste. Less chance to shank the pull, crisper, lighter and the ergos are fantastic. Glock ergos are an acquired taste. I don’t really shoot my G19 as much as I once did. I have a few pistols that I shoot better quite honestly. My PDP, VP9, Steyr M9 even my P30sk. I have the occasional good day with my Glock, but it is about accuracy. In a defensive situation, that is what it is about for me. You might not have had a great day with those guns, but you shot the Hk better. You can see it. Anyway. Value is subjective. If what you’re going by is value without touching the gun and that’s it, Glock wins. But few that have both are picking the Glock I’ll wager. The real fight is VP9 vs PDP. That’s a tough one for sure. For me, it is much tougher making 50 yard shots with a Glock. I do much better in that regard with my VP9.

    They are both great firearms, made well and do what they are intended to do. My nod goes to the HK, the craftsmanship is just far superior. I do have a concern about those of you buying the night sights , and using for a concealed carry application. Just buy with the standard factory sights and train without them. All the night sights are, are just a painted on application anyhow.
