CZ SP01 PHANTOM: IS THIS ACTUALLY THE BEST FULL SIZE CZ?
Vložit

- This CZ has everything you'd want in a quality full size carry option. The CZ Phantom is back with a reinforced polymer and at 28 ounces puts it within reach for carrying. Tell me what you think about the Phantom. CZ did another masterful job with the Phantom.....now to just shoot it better.

I got a CZ Phantom as part of a trade, I actually didn't really want it but I knew it could sell for at least $400-$500 so I took it. Since I had it I decided to shoot it... and after 1 range trip I have decided to make it my new primary home defense pistol, sold my Glock, and traded my Colt 1911 Gold Cup Trophy for a CZ Shadow 2. It's safe to say I am now a "CZ guy" and am not looking back.
Chetch yourself before you wreck yourself😃
Did you mean Czech yourself?@@truthseeker071
3:55 If you're just here for the Phantom commentary.
Thank you !!!
You're the man!
The real mvp
I really appreciate it, guy. I was sitting here wondering how long it would take him to get to the point of the video. Turns out, it's 1/3 of the way through.
Thanks
I sold my Glock 19 to buy my first CZ, a PCR, I then purchased a SP-01 Phantom, and last an as new in box P-07. I love them all (CZ mags ain't cheep) because these pistols allow me to be a better shooter!
@SkullDrex , Yubyub CZ pistols rule
Lots of great info and a solid critique. Considering this weapon and your video was very helpful
I have the phantom and I love it. Good shooter and feels great in my hand.
Chad Pinder it's a great gun
My friend got me into CZ's. His 75B had about 4k rounds though it when i first shot it. But i decided to pick up an Urban Grey SP-01 Tactical. Ive loved it so far. And plan on buying so many more cz's
Can’t go wrong w/ a CZ in my book. Terrific collection you have, each has their merits, the classic 75 has good ergonomics. That Phantom looks great reminds me almost of a Jericho 941, nice full size duty gun. I collect Milsurp CZ’s and now have some modern ones, quality stuff. Great video and presentation. Thanks for posting!👍🏼
+Douglas yes it does although the slide is different and I prefer a decocker over safety only. Thanks for watching
Year later and all, but the IWI Jericho is yet another CZ 75 clone...I guess CZ’s full size polymer version would look similar to 75 clones, haha
Nice collection of CZ with nice grips. I'll have to look into the Phantom, nice gun. Like to see a compact size simular to P-01.
Great review Brother and good looking peace!!! 🤘🏻🇺🇸
I swear man after Christmas I'm buying both a p-01, and a p-07. Good stuff as always my friend.
+NODAK WILLY you'll be very happy
They all look very nice to me. Happy Thanksgiving my friend.
+Glocked 17 me too....lol
This is the first time I visted your channel. What led me here was your positive comments on other reviewers channels. Solid support on your behalf. I own four CZs; the iconic 75 B in SA, 97 B (B for Beast) 45 acp., the SP-01, and the soon to arrive Shadow 2. A CZ fanboy? Yep. I no longer care for polymer pistols. Gave all of mine up (the G word among others) in favor of all steel. To each his own. Enjoyed the review nevertheless. Looking forward to more. I subscribed. Thank you.
+82 Luft thank you I appreciate it
Great looking CZ brother!
+KSGunGuy indeed nut you already know that
Those 3 guns are looking good as I hope to shoot one sometime in the future....Good stuff...
Great video! I have the SP-01 and can't shoot it any better, but I really love it.
I should be able to pick up my CZ P-06 .40 caliber by tomorrow if I'm lucky.
One thing I did on my P-01, which has the same sights as the Phantom, is I drilled out the rear sight dots and installed bright green fiber optics in them. Drill bits are available from Harbor Freight in nearly the same diameter as the fiber optic rod that I used (can't remember the size), but it really brightened up the rear sight picture. Maybe I'll post a short video about it.
Really enjoyed your video!
+Sand-Paper-Pistol-Grips thanks man and yes post that vid and remember what size but you used
Cant go wrong with a table full of CZ's! Great video man!
+Lock N' Load Lifestyle no you cannot
Your p01 is one sweet looking gun. Can't wait to get one of my own.
+jeff fleser p01 is awesome
Very nice pistol, thanks for sharing!
+Aaron Neumeyer thanks for watching my friend
Very nice I have the steel version SP01 tactical and love it. It’s a heavy beast but have no intentions of carrying it. This is a good option if you want a lighter option for sure
I couldn't agree more
Triggers on standard CZ’s can be among the worst: they have heavy main springs, the hammer hooks are deep, and some of the machined surfaces for the trigger interface can be rough. The metal of the sears can be soft and they can mar. The roll pin that retains the firing pins on B models can be eroded to the point of trapping the firing pin.
Nevertheless, a new mainspring and hammer can turn standard CZ’s into target pistols; a Cajun roll pin is a necessity for carry/defense pieces.
My girl just bought me one of these CZ 75 sp-01 Phantoms. And it is pretty awesome , I replace my Beretta 92 with it for 3 gun and ipsc and ID PA. I couldn't find the leg holster I wanted so I had to make one It came out nice
Phantom is my 4th CZ in less thn 2 months. Added it to my P01, 97B and P10S. These handguns are just really nice.
I started with p10c & shot it so good I got rid of gen 4 Glock 19. Then bought p09 & phantom. I've shot probably 600rds through it and it gets smoother. Exception being the decocker. I've actually had 3 sessions where I just actuate the decocker 100 reps to smooth out, and it's way better. I also agree with you on sights, I need FO front & black out rear sight for these eyes...lol. nice collection & nice video.
+Greg McCoy I dropped the 18$ spring kit from cgw in it and it's even smoother
Just got myself one of these SP-01 Phantoms, and I think it is a very nice, great shooting pistol. Unlike your dislike of them, I find the sights OK, and I'm getting fairly accurate with them, and they are just right for concealed carry. However, I must get myself some grip tape to improve the overal feel.
The Phantom is on me short list!!!
Aye me maytie
Good to know about the weight. I carry the Glock 17 because it's light but I cannot shoot it as well as a CZ.
I have to agree with you. There's no comparison. I bought a Glock 17 because it was lighter, but I found that it was not an easy gun for accurate shooting compared to my CZ's. (I know - a bad workman blames his tools, etc. - but it was the only handgun I've owned that gave me problems). The Phantom has all the best features of my 75B, and is almost a pound lighter. That's a win in my book. 1 Glock for sale....
@@flyingbeaver57 it take a minute to get used to Glocks but onc you're dialed in they way more accurate then we'll ever need them to be. I love my Glocks and have carried a G26 or G19 for over 10yrs now but with all the new CZs out there now I may add one into my rotation. I got to handle and shoot a CZ RAMI about 15yrs ago and always loved CZs since. They are just not stocked in LGSs like Glock, Ruger, etc and I won't buy one online without getting a feel for it in my hands first. Luckily there's a new shop in town that's a CZ dealer so I see a few new handguns in my future.
Nice looking firearms
This is 1 of my favorites for sure. Like you the P09 just wasn't my cup of tea. I find myself pulling my Phantom out of the safe more than most of my guns. Sights do suck I put HiViz fiber optics on mine and they are great.Great vid 1776 👍
+Youngguns173SW Thanks and yeah I'm most likely going the fiber optic route
Great review.
+David Homoney thank you
Put a basic spring kit in there for $18 from Cajun Gun Works and I think it works pretty well I'm very happy with it I consider putting in the 85 trigger but that's about it
Was it really just $18?😳
I’m getting a Phantom this week and I am super excited! Great review... I love your channel!
I picked up a CZ 75bd........its fast becoming my favorite
+russ elder I can't say I blame you
I love my Phantom great gun presentation feels very natural point of aim is perfect.
I Love the cz 75 grip shape
@@1776orbust it's very close to the Canik
I own almost every cz and the Phantom is at the top of my list. In fact, I own two.
Do the CZ75B mags (particularly the Mecgar 17 rounders) work well in the Phantom? I've got the SAR K2P, SAR CM9 and Jericho 941 that all take that Mecgar mag and I want my next firearm to take that mag.
With the Cajun Gun Works Pro Package and 85 combat trigger and Trijicon sites it has become my favorite CZ FOR NOW.
All three are nice!
+Keith Gregory I'm very happ with all of them now I just need to spend more time with them because my shooting sucked ...lol
Nice video bro
Nice review. I don't know why gun companies sell nice guns with crap sights (Beretta and Glock are also guilty of this). I need to get some CZs next year.
+Milsurp Mike yeah the p01 and sp01 phantom sights are terrible but now Ihave an excuse to upgrade
I’ve had a Phantom for 5 months and love it. Carry it as much as my compact Ruger Sec9. May have something to do with having a slightly higher quality holster for the Phantom from Neptune Comcealment.
Phantom is a nice concealed carry. So is hk vp9 as a secondary
Nice pistol for sure. One day ill own one
+Channel Cat Chaser One day soon
CZ I like it.
The sights are just fine
not for me
I bought this gun based on your review, with the idea of having to change the sights. But I was happy with them as they are
I purchased mine for $350 brand new. I’m waiting for it to get shipped and to get it from my FFL. I’m going to carry this CZ and make safe queen of my fancier CZ Shadow 2.
That 1” group at twenty five is pretty awesome.
First CZ I shot I put the entire magazine within an inch. Oddly enough I hated the sights but felt the profile aided in accuracy of that makes any sense lol debating on the phantom or the p01
The Phantom is nice. The CZ that I like and gets overlooked is the CZ 75 B SA, which has a single action mechanism like a 1911, plus it comes with a flat face trigger. They can be a little hard to find. I have had mine for 3 months. Love it.
+Range Randy awesome
I have had the 75b SA and have for 8 years. I’ve had it tricked out by their factory shooter Matt Mink. Best dang gun I have owned. 1.5 lbs trigger and is a tack driver. That started the CZ addiction. I now have the RAMI, Scorpion, and P10C.
David Homoney Thanks for reply on CZ 75 B SA. I'm like you in that I have 5 CZ' s now that I have aquired in the last couple years. CZ yeah!!!!!
I started out with a CZ-75B about 13 years ago, and picked up a CZ-85 and later a P-07 Duty in 2010. I've always been really impressed with CZ's firearms, and I was thinking about getting the newer version of the P-07. While I was looking I came across the CZ SP-01 Phantom. I'd heard about this handgun from a friend who'd gone to the Czech Republic as part of a CAF team for a mulit-national match in 2016 (?). It was tricky - everyone was given a Phantom - but each gun had been deliberately made "off" in some way. The object was to adjust your aim to correct for that out while "running and gunning" as well as on a range. A good time was had by all, I'm told, and a lot of guys came home raving about the Phantom. The Shadow II is the "sexy" CZ at the moment, but the price here is a bit off-putting. Being direct imports from the Czech factory, they're pretty pricey. However, I came across a brand new Phantom for an extremely good price in a Canada Day sale, and that left me no excuses! I just love it. I've never been bothered by the weight of the -75B/85, but this combines the best parts of the polymer P-07 and the full-size -75 frame. This Phantom is definitely a keeper. I hope more makers will bring out holsters to fit the Phantom - I did find a Safariland model that fit like a glove. The left-side decocker seems to be the "sticky spot" but I'm sure that can be overcome.
It's a great gun..I put an MCARBO spring kit and it's even better.
Picked my Phantom up for $424 brand new.
Same here about 411 for mine
409 OTD for mine.
Very nice review. Great gun. I went with the hi viz sights on mine and really like them. Ok there not night sights but how many of us really need those, especially since a light came with cz? Excellent value gun, especially if you consider the after purchase expenses involved with that other brand. You know who I’m talking about.
johnnybeanz1 I do know who you're referring to 😉
1776 or Bust
We’re funny. Another question: I’m thinking hard of getting the 75b single action. Ever shoot one? Thanks.
My only real complaint against the Phantom was the inability to add thicker solid grips (like M&P palm swells). It was a trifle thin in my hands, even with a Hogue style sleeve, but I loved carrying it while competing with its steel framed stablemates. Other than that, it's a great gun!
Get it Cajunized......I finally got DPM recoil reduction. Thanks for that
Do you notice a significant difference in recoil?
@1:16 "They dropped the doody" lol
+Dirt Road Gun Show can't help it I'm from New York
I’ve always wanted a Phantom, but they are hard to find. They also seem to be over “Shadowed” by the steel frame versions, P07, P10c & all the other polymer striker fired pistols on the market. To me you get the best of both worlds with the Phantom, Old school CZ 75 with New age Polymer frame. Plus they take standard CZ 75 mags. I know there are a few aftermarket parts for these, but I just wish there were more custom parts and builds based on these guns.
WALLKILL river small arms has one
I got the phantom and love it? Want to change the trigger that bites and sights..
Question, what holster do you use? I wanted to get shoulder holster but can not find one the latches at quarter cocked...
I got one from hidden hybrid and mid Atlantic holsters
Thank you, I will give them a try
This is a "fantastic" video :-) I bought mine today and shot it but I am still kicking myself in the back for not spending that extra $100 for the tactical. However, I think the phantom is a better gun for a carry because of the weight. As some one new to guns and only owned and shot an M&P shield, I think I have some getting used to the new single/double action full size guns. I agree with the sights I was having a hard time seeing them. Can that be fixed? meaning can I put different sight on it? also what is the best holster for carry you would suggest? Thanks
Yes I actually just bought some Truglo tritium Pro as they now have them with the orange ring in the front and it works perfectly
Love my CZs.
#czechawesomeness
Only half-kidding about the hands dude...you're fine...
I've over 5000 rounds on my PO9, in IDPA and no fails...sorry to see yours go....
Have a good one...
I think my hands are big enough when CZ reintroduced its phantom for me it became the better option I like the ergonomics better
Hello, i like your review. I watched it before buying one myself. My question is my slide and the rail at the end of the barrel i can squeeze them together and it has some play at the tip of the gun. Is that normal?
yes
Thanks for the review! How does recoil compare to CZ P-09?
Phantom feels good the p09 has the slight edge though
Are the sights really such a big deal on a lightweight low recoil sidearm? I heard him say the sights are trash n honestly I don't think I'd think twice bout it considering at any range(distance) i shoot at the weapon sights arent a factor in prescion especially close range but even 10 yards n out farther shots all still land within couple inch group an that's rapid firing off draw
Just got a CZ P-09 , my first hammer pistol . I think the Phantom looks great and probably shoots great too . I wanted to get a less expensive quality hammer fire option .I have the "compact" sizes in striker fire and a single stack Shield . Has anyone had a issues with a P-09 mag not loading 19 and not being able to seat in the gun with 1 in the chamber ? So easy to turn into a collector . Right now I am done buying lol . The P-10 looks good so does the Steyr .
+Musiclvr spring in the mag may need some time so I'd keep a full mag loaded until it gets easier
Yes, the sights that come with the Phantom suck; however, the night sights that come with the 75 SP-01 Tactical are really pretty good.
Did the trigger get any lighter after breaking it in?
Got my COW with a 75 spo1 tactical. Sloppy at 1sr. But did you have fun. I did.
Send it to me I’ll compare it to my p09. Good review buddy.
+J Mike uhhhhhhhh no
I'm the idiot that bought the Phantom when it was offered and then let it go as pa of a trade.😭😭. Still have the 75B tactical. OD green frame steel slide. It originally came with a cz knife. It's valued at $325. Not a Phantom but I'm gonna keep it. most accurate handgun I have.
They dropped the doooody
What brand of sights are on the p07
Nice Review, I personally still prefer the P-09. #CZLIFE Indeed Carry On
+Big Johnson Guns and Gear Np worries it's nice to have options
1776 or Bust Yes it is! Carry On
I love my P-07 but I can't shoot it anywhere near as well as my PCR. Not sure why. Think I'm gonna trade it for a 2.0 Compact and grab that super sweet flat faced apex trigger kit
+FromPlsNerf a worthy trade my friend
Checked one out at my lgs you were right , damn now I want one... curse you.. just kidding lol .
You need to try CZ P01 SDP
I've got one on layaway!
Is there a definitive way to distinguish between 1st/2nd gen?
Pat M just look for manufacturing date the first gen I believe stopped in 2001 or 3 Maybe
Do cz 75 mags that are 17+2 fit? Thanks
Yes
Question to anyone, can you covert the phantom into single action only w/ saftey like an omega trigger or an aftermarket option?
+steve lemieux hi Steve it's far as I know you can't but I could definitely be wrong you may want to contact Cajun Gun Works and see what they can do
1776 or Bust I'm excited, just ordered a phantom today (merry Christmas to me) I'm a fan of cz so I'm sure it will not disappoint. Thanks for the good videos and info.
steve lemieux it's a great pistol
did you do any work to the trigger on this gun? or was stock good enough
I put a new hammer spring and its perfect
@@1776orbust was that cajun product? I was wondering if there trigger upgrades are worth it. I think they are close to $200.
yes the hammer spring 8lbs da 4lbs sa made a big difference
Your going to have to get the 97 B
Scott Jernigan maybe but this phantom is sweet
+ 1776 or Bust Did you find the trigger stagey and need of a trigger Jo's as nutnfancy did?
no I dropped a hammer spring and it was great
@@1776orbust What pound hammer spring?
Dude, did you just do the trigger pull on halfcock??? There's a difference in pull from full hammer down and halfcock...
Ron Sion well since this is a decocker I would carry it in half cocked position which is why I measure the trigger pull from that point. And yes I am fully aware there's a difference
Will the decocker take the hammer all the way down? or do you have to ride it down manually while pulling the trigger?
Any sights recommendation... I can’t see these sights under sun
Fiber optics....Dawson or a cheap set of light waves
1776 or Bust thanks
What trigger is that on your p10?
Hb industries
Put Dawson Precision on your CZs man
I would skip buying the phantom. Get a p-07 or p-09 if you want a full size polymer Hammer fired cz and get a sp-01 tactical instead, it's a much better full size gun than the phantom except the weight and the weight is what makes it shoot so fing nice.. when I switch from my sp-01 9mm to my p07 tactical 9mm, it feels like I'm switching from a 9mm to a .40 and the p07 is a pretty sweet shooter so that's saying something. I threw some Dawson precision blacked out read fiber front sights with a .100 inch wide front fiber sight and I can hit every shot at 50 yards no problem. Those truglo's you have on that p-01 have like .160 wide front sights which is a huge shame to have on a precision pistol and wide front sight is not a needed for self defense either.
I rank the phantom better than the P07/09, it's basically a polymer SP01
+Scott Pochini I agree that's why I never picked up a tactical just way too heavy for practicality
What kind of grip is on your p07?
Traction
@@1776orbust thank you! My phantom feels just a hair thin. Will try this grip ^^
“Dropped the duty” 😂😂😂 I’m immature
#2ASTRONG #CZLIFE
Jealous 👍🏻
+InSight Freedom don't be just get one..lol
1776 or Bust I think I'll wait on the P10 a bit but that SP01 is really high on my list
I looks good but not being able to put those sexy grips like you have on your P01 makes me want an SP01 instead! I can deal with the weight if I get a pair of those grips! Just seeing those make me want a P01! But I feel like I need slightly different grips.
One thing I'll say that the Phantom doesn't have a lot of holster support vs the P09. I don't make holster for either so I don't have a dog in the fight.
+Harry's Holsters That's why there's cerakote...lol
+Harry's Holsters no holster support because the gun hasn't been on the market for a couple of years. However there is some out there already......vedder, black arch, mid atlantic are just a few
10 round mags in a phantom... its just not right. just not right
Josh Bascii zero round mag would be much worse
Okay, enough about the hands. The Phantom is a Ferrari compared to the lowly PO7/9!!!
If you ever get to shoot the Tanfoglio Gold Cup, or Check-Mate, all others will seems "less than" to you...
I think you may be thinking about the shadow the Phantom is a polymer full-size shaped like a 75b pretty freaking awesome
We're it not for those soft, little girly hands, you lost out on the PO9, as it is the quintessential duty weapon.
Man up, dude!
Yeah okay you're right my girly hands definitely
I have a P09, a SP01 tactical (in green not grey), and earlier today picked up a phantom which I hope to shoot after work tomorrow. I wouldn't trade my green tack for anything but I must say between those 2 I give the P09 the nod. Lighter polymer P09 shoots softer, staying on target better between shots, smoother da trigger and a little lighter sa. Grip ergo shape is awsome in either but some may want a little more sticky in the P09. The accuracy is equal until you double tap. P09 shines here. Question is will the phantom bridge that for some people? Maybe since the grip beats the P09 and the phantom might be just as good as a duty gun. I think my phantom will end up in the car, the P09 in the house near my go bag, and I will always save the Tactical for the range trips. CZ is so under rated by the masses!
Czech Army side arm
It very well could of been BUT the trigger absolutely SUCKS on the CZ SP-01 Phantom polymer.
Had it & sold it.. No Shame... No Guilt.. Nuf said. (imo)
no worries the hammer spring imo makes an improvement
Sorry, "Czechmate" bloody spellczech!!!!
Standard capacity mags not high capacity mags. Don’t spread their propaganda
yes yes
Phenomenal fit and finish? Have you ever looked inside of a CZ Slide? They don’t even completely finish them. They have sharp edges and ugly tool marks everywhere. I’m so tired of the CZ fad, and wish they’d go away..
+Jay Albright I have to ask have you looked at any more recent release CZ's because you'll be happy to know that their tooling marks are no longer there I had a p01 about 8 and a half years ago that had those problems that you just mentioned I also have a new PO1 now another one on the way my Phantom, P-07 a PCR, p09 etc and all of them are absolutely perfect
1776 or Bust it’s been 6 years or so since my last CZ. I really wanted to love it. I. The end I just couldn’t .
Jay Albright I get it man but I would say try a p07 p09 p10 no Milling issues at all finishes are ridiculously awesome
1776 or Bust maybe someday. Great video by the way. Even though I’m a bit of a CZ hater, I enjoyed your video
Jay Albright no worries man at the end of the day not every manufacturer has to be loved and I've been on this CZ bandwagon longer than a lot of the people who now say that they be been a fan for a long time so at least you're honest bro
The Glock 17 is the best full-size CZ
+Dirt Road Gun Show how would you know if you've never owned one of these
I need a store somewhere within 100 miles of me to carry CZ so I can actually hold one... I literally have never held one and I'm sure they are awesome :)
