  • The CZ 75 SP-01 Phantom chambered in 9mm. Polymer frame, steel slide, low bore axis, high capacity equals lots of fun at the range!

    My favorite 9 is the 75 SP-01 Tactical. CZ makes some of the finest handguns in the world.

    I own 3 CZ pistols and the Phantom is my favorite. I have recently sold 2 CZ pistols (not my Phantom) to purchase a CZ P-01 Omega. Love my CZ pistols!!!

    Excellent, in depth review. I own a Phantom and it’s an amazing weapon. It checks so many boxes. Definitely one I’ll keep to pass down to my son.

    The sp01 is steel, only the p01 and pcr are alloy, so the phantom is much lighter than the sp01....and I think it works well for carry. Great gun either way

    I purchased a new CZ SP01 Phantom today because I love my CZ PCR (I sold my Glock 19 to buy it ), hammer fired pistols shoot so much better than striker fired any day of the week.

      I think I've found that across the board, hammer fired guns are just more shootable and easier to be accurate with than striker fired. But, striker fired guns are probably arguably more reliable than hammer fired guns, which is probably why they're in service more.*

    Thanks for another good review. I have not shot this particular gun but I watched a guy at the range about six weeks ago shoot 3 inch groups freehand at 25 yards and even better from a bench rest. Personally I’m pretty happy shooting 6 inch groups at 25 yards. And there are days I am happy just to find the paper. Take care and thanks for sharing

      I actually did the similar, sold the sig 226 tac ops and went to cz. The Tac Ops SUCKS for an $1100 gun, its bore axis is double that of the CZ and the CZ has the same capacity. I find Sig owners try to tout their product is the best based on the price tag. Sig of today has no quality control and is soley pricing their garbage because of historical guns that were ONCE UPON A TIME superior designs. So long Sig, CZ is kicking your ass for a reason, Sig product quality does not match the price tag.

    Hello, i like your review. I watched it before buying one myself. My question is, my slide and the rail at the end of the barrel, i can squeeze them together and it has some play at the tip of the gun. Is that normal?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you. Yes, that is totally normal. The slide is supported at the back and the center just below the chamber and there will be play. Many guns are designed like this and it won't affect reliability or accuracy. The alignment of the barrel in the slide, which corresponds with the sights is the important factor in accuracy - the frame/lower doesn't participate in that alignment.

    Is the rod inside of the spring, (spring guide?) plastic? Mine is plastic and it seems odd to be plastic.

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  Před 5 lety +2

      Many guide rods are polymer now. The guide rod really does very little work in most designs, it is really just there to keep the spring straight and polymer holds up very well (ex: Glocks - the spring itself typically will wear out before the guide rod.)

    • @HammerStriker

    I bought a Glock 19 for carry, however, I carry my P-01 Omego or Rami only. If you were me, would you trade a Glock 19 G4 w/ trijicon night sights for a CZ Phantom?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  Před 3 lety +1

      From a pure dollar value perspective you would likely be taking a "loss". From a functional perspective, if the G19 simply sits in the bottom of the safe and never gets used but you would actually use the Phantom then that paper "loss" becomes unimportant.

    • @MattChat56
      @MattChat56 Před 3 lety

      Hammer Striker what’s a good price for the Phantom. I have a guy in my neighborhood that wants to trade for my Glock. He is also asking $700 for his base phantom w/ 2 mags. I feel like that is steep!

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  Před 3 lety +1

      When they were still in production, they were $500 guns. They are getting scarcer, I saw one on a popular online site for $600 new.

  • @RSGEProductions

    I have one, but I still don't understand the safety

  • @mikehlee69
    @mikehlee69 Před 5 lety +2

    3 things I dont like about the phantom version:
    Trigger is long, gritty and heavy because of the decocker
    Not enough Slide serration especially given how low the slide sits in the frame
    The sights just suck
    Now the “regular “ sp-01 is about $100-125 more and it comes w NS, A traditional safety which makes trigger a little cleaner & front serrations so unless you really need to save some weight the standard sp01 is preferable. Better yet get the Shadow 2 for $1000!!!
