The Shadow 2 is an absolute masterpiece. CZ outdid themselves in every way with this one.
The Shadow 2 and the CZ 75 Shadow SP-01 Shadow Target II including a CZ Custom trigger job (they sell it that way) are both amazing top of the line pistols for competition. I have shot both. Currently have the Shadow Target II. They have outdone themselves on both of this high-end competition models.
Have you ever handled the CZ Shadow Compact? I wonder if that would make a good carry gun.
The CZ 75 P-01 Omega is a compact. It is lighter than the CZ 75 Compact because of the difference in the frame. It is a good carry gun. Have not specifically shot the Shadow compact.
Shadow compact is basically a pimped up P01. I would personally go with a regular P01 for carry- you can still tweak it a bit. I have. You dont want a 2lb trigger on a carry pistol :). Unless you are extra careful.

I waited a year to purchase this pistol. Without a doubt this is one of the finest firearms that you will ever hold in your hand. In these days of polymer pistols, this is a testament to the engineering marvel and the machinist mastery at CZ. This is a pistol that you can pass on as an heirloom to your family. I selected the blue handle model, and when most people look at it they assumed that I paid about 3,000 dollars. I always wait to shot this pistol as the last firearm at the range. The only down side is that you will walk away thinking that you are a better shot than you really are.
Agreed..at 1 point I had the shadow 2 , then tso, then ts2..kept the ts2 hands down and the other 2 funded more projects ...because like,Who sells a gun NOT to buy another a gun 😁

Much harder to spot in real life. Easy to see when you're watching a recording comprised of 60 still images per second. The only firearm bullets I've ever been able to see that clearly were 45 colt black powder loads out of a handgun, may have only been doing about 700-750fps out of a 4.5" wheelgun. You have to be an observer to see the bullet when it's a black powder gun, though: for the shooter, the world is nothing but smoke for a moment after each trigger pull!
I just bought a CZ Shadow 2 pistol two weeks ago, and I LOVE it so far! I've been doing steel target pistol matches these past few months, but since I got my Shadow 2 I've improved a ton. I never got in the top ten Production scores in the past, then two weeks ago I ranked 18/28, and last week I got 4/34! I couldn't believe I got 4th place! I was so excited that I'm actually getting somewhat good at shooting because I've had to really work at it.
It's so weird to see this comment because I just bought a new Shadow 2 the other day. I didn't have my old one for a long time, and I really missed it.

Thank you for the CZ video. I've watched your channel for a long time and have been waiting for this type of review. I have the CZ Shadow 2 in urban grey, last one I could find in a store. I grabbed it. Researched and waited 6 months. Amazing craftmanship. 500 rounds so far and I feel bad for some of my other pistols being neglected. I also have a CZ 75B and they are great products, highly accurate. If we are left with only two manufacturers, I'd be happy with S&W and CZ. Thanks for all your support. Don't forget the gong.....

I got a Shadow 2 and my warning is DO NOT BUY THIS GUN!!! It has caused an illness on my forefinger uncontrollably twitching at random times of the day. This unbearable itch can only be temporarily eased by sending hundreds of rounds down range; I call it the STS... Shadow Trigger Syndrome. Doctors have diagnosed me as incurable; I now sit at a quarantine section of the range with a bunch of others who also suffer from STS. I have LOK Grips on mine + DPS triple springs to reduce recoil & improve followup shots.....which only made my STS even worse ;)

With the grip I use on my sp01 my thumb rubs up against the slide since it’s up against the large safety causing a failure to eject

I have the sp-1 shadow and I LOVE IT! smooth trigger, low recoil, easy follow up shots it makes me want to get into competitive shooting
Thanks for another great yet humbling video. I've tired a few other pistols in 3 Gun, & this pistol has the best performance for me. Fits like a glove with minimal muzzle rise between shots. I use the rail for a Mantis X smart phone trigger motion analyzer.

I've had a Shadow 2 that is identical to the one in the video for a couple of years now and it is by far my most favored pistol in the world. It is so easy to shoot that just about everyone that picks it up, including my two teen age grandsons, can hit targets with it regularly, even their first time shooting a pistol. It's not magic, but it's pretty close.
One of the finest firearms out there period. I’ve liked CZ from the beginning yes they have had some issues but what manufacturers haven’t! Still very accurate and they run..

In my opinion, CZ Shadow 2 is one of the finest choices on the market today! With CZ's legendary low bore axis, natural pointing and natural ergonomics, all CZs I've fired handle like a dream. I have the P-09, and it's a 20 round, tack-driving sewing machine. For me, it's easy to understand why CZ's have won the hearts of so many shooters today...YOU GOTTA LOVE THAT SHADOW 2!

You guys REALLY make good guns in your country!!! I have a 97B, 75BD, P01, and just found a CZ82. Love them all.
I still think Sig is the best, but CZ is close, and MUCH less expensive. Though, to be fair, I really have not kept up Sig Sauer since I got my P226 in .40 (+.357), which I customized a bit.

Megar makes the mags for the CZ's they are half the cost of the factory mags just don't have the CZ label. Mags for CZ are around 50 bucks. Megar mags are around 25 dollars. Quality is the same.
I love hearing him talk, and he thinks he's just rambling or talking while he reloads the gun, but for those of us who don't know guns he's spinning gold. I just pick up little nuggets all the way through, and for that I am grateful. Talk to you about accuracy coming from the grip the trigger, the strap, and it may have got that one wrong I'm picking the beavertail still may be wrong but you get the idea. Love this channel!

My CZ75 (pre B) was built in 1981. By far the most accurate and best fitting pistol I own.
Just bought a Shadow 2. My new favorite gun! I wish I had a penny for every round Hickok has sent down that range. Pretty sure I'd be a millionaire. He sure does make accuracy seem easy!
I like to rewatch this video from time to time. Because I like CZ's and H45 really shows off his skills more so than usual.

PS, if you put the CZ hammer in the half-cock position (not fully down and not fully back), you then can just push the slide back to the resistance point and remove the take down lever without lining up anything. CZ’s are designed to be taken apart this way and it’s much easier.
It's funny, because this is one of those "experts advice" kind of things, but it is straight from the manual.
Just, so few people actually read a gun manual thoroughly now a days.
I've done it a few ways but I gotta try this. I usually do a triple check for clear then hook a finger inside the guard and push the barrel back with my thumb. It's a bad habit.

I don't comment much, but I wanted to leave a note here. I was lucky enough to win the auction for this pistol. It is everything Hickok makes it out too be. Absolutely fantastic, and it has ruined other pistols for me with the best trigger I have personally every felt. And y'all will be happy to know it found a good home, and gets regular exercise at the range, at competitions, and introducing new shooters to the sport! It gets fed a regular diet of S&B whenever I can find it on sale.

I'd say the leader. In the latest IPSC comps i went to, 60-smt percent of the production contestants were carrying Shadow 1's and 2's

Having only recently gone into pistol shooting, it's a LOT more difficult over here in Australia. But, my first pistol was, and still is, a 1911. Love it but as they say, walk before you run. So it was only a .22. After awhile I decided to go up to the 9mm. Did some research and tried a variety of 9s. Even the 1911. But I gotta say, I'm glad I ended up buying the CZ Shadow 2 Southern Cross ( Aussie variant)....love it, straight out of the box and she took off. Sights, trigger... love it. My only complaint is the difficulty pulling the slide back due to the lack of grip on top. But other than that I love to shoot it. Great competition gun.

I have owned cz since 1976 from cz75 , 99, po7 , p10 there excellent guns and have never failed in any situation.
The best shooting gun you have reviewed. And there is so much more you can do to a shadow than to a SP01 to make that awesome trigger even better.

It's because you're seeing roughly 60 still images of the bullet per second. They're much harder to see in real life, even big subsonic rounds like .45 Auto.
This makes me miss my CZ so much! The trigger spring broke and it has been in repair for 4 months since then!

Thank's for yet another great video Hickok45, your timing couldn't be better because i tried one for the first time at the range yesterday. It was love at first sight, i only shot a magazine with it and i can honestly say i've never shot a more instinctive pistol in my life period. The balancing of this pistol is just awesome it really shows just how much care and precision there is involved in making it. The grip is outstanding, the low bore axis makes for and incredible fast and accurate target acquisition. Add to that a dreamy smooth trigger and that was it for me, i was immediately sold. Since i retired from policing last august i started my quest to get a good AR-15 (and i finally got it) But i was still looking for the perfect pistol for me. I worked with Walther and Glocks and always trusted the Glocks for defense. Being so lightweight it was a great logical gun to have on my duty belt all day, but i never really enjoyed training with them. In my opinion polymer pistols just have more felt recoil simply because all the bang goes in the shooter's hand and none of it is at all absorbed by the gun itself. I might not have the right words to describe the feeling, but i trust you guys will understand what i mean. Anyways that's why i had bought a Sig P226 way back when i was training a lot with pistols. I ended up selling this gun because i didn't have the financial ressources anymore at the time to train as much for competition (divorce ya know). But things have changed a lot since and so i'm sort of getting back into the sport with all the time in the world to train now. My mind's made up and i'm getting a Shadow 2 it'll be perfect for IPSC and training. As heavy as it might be (like any other steel handguns) i never feel tired after shooting hundreds of rounds with a steel gun as opposed to polymers. When a gun is pleasing to shoot with, you just shoot it more thus get better at your sport.

As a Glock fanboy, I had my mind closed to any other brands. Period. If it didn't start with the letter G, I stopped listening. Then I saw a CZ Scorpion EVO III S2 Micro with the folding brace. I bought it on the spot. The build quality, the fit and finish and the design really stunned me. So well made and shoots so well. Over a thousand rounds and counting and not one malfunction. No failure to feed/eject and it cycles as fast as you can pull the trigger. Because of that, I bought the Shadow II. It's the finest handgun ever made. When you hold it in your hand, it feels like no other. The way it sits when you extend is almost comical how easy it is to aim. I got it when ammo was at its most scarce and just couldn't be found. So I haven't had as much trigger time than I would like. But now spring is here and ammo is available and more affordable, it's go time. Let me reiterate: The finest firearm I have ever held
Dude sticking to Glock is like driving a Prius and saying it the best performance car out there. There’s Ferrari’s, Lambos, Corvettes and Porsche’s out there. Glocks are ok for the price but there’s much better pistols out there if you can spend more money.

A friend that I've been shooting with for a long time told Me I would sell My Glock 19C and My Makarov once I tried this pistol. It would take a LOT for that to happen. I will have to try one sometime.

I have one of those :-) I bought it almost 2 years ago and I never had any problems with it. I had the trigger trimmed, even though it quite good from factory. I also changed the springs from 13 pound to 11 pound, and that gave a total different gun. It's very good. Nothing at the same price can compete :-)
As you probably already know, the only problem with this gun is you use way too much ammo at the range :-)
Towards the end around 4mins left, Hickok made a very nice statement about competing with something you carry, which is unlikely to be something as big and heavy as the Shadow2 but gives it the equal respect anyways. Very humble sir!
I never understood why some people make a big distinction between "range guns" and practical home defense guns. Something like the shadow 2, or Walther Q5 match could easily be both imo. It wont feel very different to get shot by Shadow versus a Glock

Because if you have to use it in a home defense scenario, chances are good that police will be taking that firearm out of your possession for the duration of their investigation.
Shadow trigger does not have a really light trigger. What it does have is an SADA trigger, and in SA mode it is a better trigger that any striker fired pistol.
I do not see a problem with carrying a Shadow as a defensive carry, except for its size and weight. The CZ-75 series was a Eastern Block military sidearm much like the 1911 and M9 are to the Western Block. It would be no different than the M9 (also an SADA) and likely carried by few police departments (more Glocks though) and military police.
The biggest reason not to carry a Shadow is in case you do use it. A regular CZ-75 can be had for under $500, and so of the really good and well made Turkish clones under $400 (generally made after an inspection of CZ of the manufacturering plant). The Shadow is selling for around $1,200. If you use it you may never see it again as it will reside 'allegedly' in the evidence locker for years, maybe even decades.
I would love a really nice CZ-75 type that I could carry with that SADA trigger. Too bad when Springfield made the XDE that did not make that trigger have the feel of a SA trigger. If they had, I would be carrying that one. The Hellcat does not interest me either because it is yet another striker fired pistol. (BTW, CZ-P10 striker fired has one of the best striker triggers right out of the box. The only reason I did not buy one is I already have a couple of striker fired pistols and I do not want any others. The other CZ plus is that it points like a 1911. Another reason why Col. Cooper thought so well of these pistols.)

After I watched this video I purchased a shadow 2 and I really like it. The gun allows me to shoot better than I actually am. I also purchased the Kadet 22 conversion, and was pleasantly surprised by the kit. It is awesome! It is the first 22 that I have owned that feels like a real pistol. The weight is a little less but everything else is just as it should be. Hickock45 you should get the kadet 22 conversion in the compound! I think you would have a blast with it

That’s how I take mine out on my SP-01 works great
The manual for every 75 and 75 variant tells you to use the mag base plate to knock the slide release out. The shadow 2 has a dimple in the frame for some odd reason and makes it harder to push, but the front edge of the magazine plate fits.

I love my new shadow 2. Just put a CGW RRK in mine with new springs. It cycles like glass and the single action is just amazing.
I shot one at the range out of curiosity. Then I went home and ordered one. Absolutely fantastic firearm. I’ve had it for a little over a year and haven’t found anything I like better. Speed and accuracy are unmatched by anything else I’ve fired, except maybe the TS2, and the Shadow is a potential carry option.

I absolutely love my CZ Shadow 2!!! This pistol is incredibly accurate. I also have the Sig Sauer P210 and I prefer the Shadow 2.
Is that so? I own a S2 and a TSO but been looking to get a P210. Why is it u prefer the S2 over the P210?
@@jorgecarmenate8182 I just seem to shoot it better. I think it's because the front sight is smaller and more refined on the S2
shadow 2 super fine but sig 210 out of this world
I have both, too, got them recently. Shooting the S2 better so far. Maybe the S2 is easier to master. Will keep trying to get up to speed on the P210.

Bought my CZ75 in 1992 for $400...pre-Berlin wall fall era brought over by its first owner. Best gun I have ever owned besides my pinned S&W Model 66 stainless. My secondary for home defense. Well balanced, few jams, always on point shot-wise. CZ makes a great gun.
