    Old school CZ75s had a much beter trigger, but since the B series which added a firing pin block for safety, the trigger reset has been longer to release the plunger safety inside the slide. The amount of creep is determined by the disconnector connected to the hammer, so replacing it with a CZ Custom or CGW pre-B disconnector (need to remove the firing pin block) will dramatically reduce pre-travel creep and reset. In addition, I recommend you CZ85 Combat trigger with more straight, gently curved design for much better trigger feeling. CZ Competition hammer or other custom hammer from CZC and CGW will make single action trigger breaks very crisp. In addition, CGW's light trigger return spring and 13 or 11.5 pound hammer spring will give you a great trigger pull that will outperform other hammer fired pistols. That SIG P226 you are comparing with is Legion model which is one of the highend P226 series, it's already has a short reset trigger sear and is an excellent factory custom pistol, while the SP01 is a standard model, so if you really want to compare on the same level, the SP-01 Shadow or Shadow Orange might be more appropriate, but I did enjoy your comparison video. Please try to compare different guns. I look forward to it. Thanks. (need to remove the firing pin block)

      @@texmexshoots yes I hope it will happen also. In the meantime, CZ should take more note in the market for their existing products. Any updates or changes they make need to be in response to customer demands and user friendliness. The P-07 requires a punch to remove one of the pins that holds the gun together. Going with a modern takedown lever would be more user friendly. On the beloved CZ-75, additional slide serrations at the top of the slide would make tap-rack-bang easier for a shooter. Once again, a modern takedown lever would be a great thing on that weapon system for field servicing and user friendliness.

  • @texmexshoots
    @texmexshoots  Před 2 lety +5

    I was surprised at how well I shot the CZ, considering the trigger issues. However, the creep does seem to be smoothing out. I am also surprised at how far left I was grouping with the P226. It’s most likely due to my inexperience with the legion model as I tend to be on target with other P226’s I’ve shot. Even so you can see how much tighter the grouping is with the P226 over the CZ. A good trigger job would alleviate that issue with the SP-01, but it won’t be necessary for a home defense pistol which is my particular use with this model. I do intend to take the P226 legion out again and shoot it while resting to see if it is user error or if need to drift the sights.
    You will also notice the slide did not lock back on the P226 in the slow-mo footage. I was using bulk Blazer Brass. Since the P226 had only seen about 150 rounds thus far, I think the spring may be a bit stiff or/and the Blazer a little underpowered.

    • @georgemhaylov7252
      @georgemhaylov7252 Před 2 lety

      I cannot see your thumb placement in the slow motion video but most probably you were touching the slide release, causing the slide not to lock after the last round. It's a very common issue. Regarding the trigger of the SP-01, you can buy a $25 spring set from mcarbo, which will make it much better. If the creep bothers you too much, you have to buy a competition hammer from ggw or cz custom.

    If it means anything to anyone, I love both. The 226’s down side is the way it feels/fits in my hand. (I wear a medium size glove for comparison) if I get a great grip on it it feels like the tip of my finger is barely on the trigger which is bizarre to me considering I’ve never had that issue with any other firearm. The SP01 tac feels like it was made for my hands specifically. I never fear that my 226 will give any issues either whether that be combat scenarios or range shooting. The CZ is a little more edgy with conditions/ settings. If both were to fall in some sand or mud I’d put my trust in the 226 shooting fine. The 226 g10 grips feel a little cheap to me but maybe that’s just me, I’m actually thinking of letting go to get another sp01. Both great firearms I guess it just boils down to what you’re intended use is for them. At the range my CZ’s are far more accurate but both IMO are good for self defense and range. The 226 excels in combat shooting (it’d make a reliable in of the world firearm) lol EDIT… I also have a hard time with CZ’s slides, they’re great and keep recoil down due to a low bore axis but they are less comfortable to handle the slide. The 226 has a hard maneuver slide stop (it’s sooo small). The CZ is harder to break down (it’s not hard, just harder) the Sig 226 is super easy.

      They are worth it. My only complaint is the stock trigger takes some time to smooth out, but other than that it is an amazing pistol.

    If you shoot USPSA, IDPA, or Defense pistol and shoot rapidly on the move, the myopic trigger details people focus on go out the window. You don't feel the take up or anything else as you are shooting too fast to notice. You can add a CGW pro package to the SP-01 , change sights and grips and still have change left over vs the P226. They are both absurd for CCW. If you stand flatfooted and shoot slowly at paper, then it's a toss up as they are both easy to shoot. The P-01 is what the P229 should have been. More ergonomic, more intuitive controls, particularly the decocker. You don't really see anyone shooting P226's for long in competition shooting for a reason. Depends what kind of shooting interests you. Do you shoot 600 rounds a year? 6000 rounds? 15,000 rounds? That really determines WHY we choose what we choose.

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  Před rokem

      That is all excellent information kagyu1. I agree that at least for me, the SP-01 and P226 are too large for CCW. I have never shot USPSA or IDPA but could easily see how high stress situations and attempting to get shots off quickly would shift focus away from the trigger pull.

      Thanks for watching Mr. Cowdell! That is certainly one of the complaints of the SP01. The short slide has its benefits (low bore axis) but with that comes the detriment of not having much to grab on to.
