"Hey guys I have schizophrenia"
"Oh ok, yeah that's cool, normal teenage stuff"
Noooo seriously , I use to hear those voices while I prayed and when I went to get help that’s exactly what my therapist told me . I went to confession &’ he told me straight up that those are DEMONS and you have to rebuke them in the name of Jesus when it happens I said what he told me to and those voices stop ASAP … smh
Right!?!?!?! This was a kid asking for help...
@@cymbelineterrazas3113 I believe that 100%! I had a schizophrenic boyfriend that started hearing voices after he was introduced to Satanism. He'd wake up in fields with no knowledge of how he got there. He heard voices in his bedroom wall and starting picking at the wall to hear them better, which became so bad he needed his wall replaced. He was chronically suicidal and verbally abusive so it got to be too much for me. But yes, demons can implant themselves in your thoughts and ruin things if you don't take a stand against them.

Not to excuse him, but litterally every adult is his life failed him tremendously. He was heavily traumatized and perhaps psychotic. His parents and that horrible uncle are 100% equally to blame.

ehhh. Not equally to blame. Definitely some but not equally.
Agreed, sounds like paranoid schizophrenia, his age and the blackouts/voices are almost textbook ps symptoms

okay but no matter what religion you’re in if you start hearing voices in your head telling you to do immoral things please get help 😔🖐🏻 stay safe y’all.
Or if someone tells you they are hearing voices help them
And if you ask for help and they ignore you don't stop, keep asking until someone hears you.👍
He tried to get help but no one listened. Sad situation for everyone involved
Love this look 😍!
@kaydenaubry6814 Do you mean our own conscious voice or only different voices or evil voices like demonic? Real question
Actually - though I don’t remember his name, there was a 14 year old African American boy that is *the youngest* person to have been sentenced to death, and was executed, for a crime it was later proven he hadn’t committed. *That* case is heartbreaking.
George Stinney, Jr.
Also thought of him! But I'm guessing that case doesn't count as he was innocent after all, whereas Sean was actually guilty so, more "official"...
George may be the youngest in history, but Bailey states Sean is the only person to have been executed for a crime committed under the age of 17, since the reinstatment of the death penalty in 1976. George Stinney died in 1944.
George stinney
I don’t want to excuse him, but his family, friends and the system failed him. Please just listen to kids and take them seriously when they tell you they have problems
Yes it’s like not to excuse him or his actions but I feel bad for the childhood he lived and if someone had intervened it possibly could’ve had a different outcome everybody failed this child and didn’t see obvious signs or listen to him express issues.
I agree kid comes in I'm hearing voices , I don't think it's a phase I respond with let's get you some help now!
I haven't listened to the whole thing yet. Im at the part where he moved back to Oklahoma. And honestly the constant moving would drive me insane. I dont see that as a normal childhood. I would probably lose motivation to do anything at that point if I can never fully settle down.
Exactly what I was thinking.... When he was asking for help, everyone ignored it because "he was just being a teenager" but when he actually committed a crime (likely because he never got the help he needed), suddenly he was treated as an adult and held responsible.
totally agree actually

I have an interesting fact, Bailey. The judge actually breaks the pen nib when they sign the death sentence. It is to signify that a pen used to take a man's life shouldn't be used again.
Lol the pen didn’t do anything! 😆
That's really interesting
Apparently this is a tradition in India.
@@VictoriaEMeredith it indeed is..
this would be a great topic for @dark history
Having served 4.5 years in prison, and housed in a unit where the majority of inmates were either lifers or those with 25+ year sentences, I can confidently say that for the most part, life in prison is a FAR worse sentence than being condemned to death. They have to watch their loved ones drift away from communicating with them, and then watch those who do maintain contact grow old and pass on with no chance to say goodbye. If they have kids, they watch them grow up estranged from them, living their lives like they don’t even exist in them aside from the occasional visit. And they also watch countless people who have the actual chance to leave squander their freedom by returning again and again with new crimes… believe me, deep down, after a few decades, they’re wishing for death
You worded that very well.. So sad I need to write my cousin who us in prison.ty
Thank you for sharing.
shame on his family, friends, and school staff for not listening to him when he wanted help. not excusing him, but shame
Truly.
I agree completely! He needed help, reached out, and he was thrown by the way side and neglected.
Very much agreed
It sounded like he had a schizophrenic break or something, which is hardly surprising bearing all that physical abuse, with no normal relationships in places with permanent connections. He really needed help. If only he had received it when he was asking for it.
Unfortunately that seems to be the case when a lot of people ask for help. Yet were always told to seek help if we are struggling 😑
It’s so ironic that his girlfriend was called Angel.
I was just going to comment this lol.
JUST gonna comment this bit scrolled the comments first bc I just knew I would not be he first lol
It was a nickname. It’s not her legal name.
As an educator, never name or nickname your child Angel. I've never had a student named Angel who was "an angel".
Haha my thoughts exactly.
I think Sean's friend's the real devil for influencing Sean on doing all these yet sits in the back and applauding him after each act without participating in any or doing any on his path. Yeah talk about some friend. All what Sean wanted was a listening ear and a parental talk unfortunately he he fell in the hands of the wrong one. Like I said BLAME the friend period.
I agree with you a million percent
And he testified against him..jeez
are we gonna forget that he ASKED FOR HELP?! literally told people "i'm hearing voices" and they were like "it's just a phase, he's a teenager"
it’s so sad. it doesn’t excuse what he did but had they helped him sooner…

Right! feel so sad
Right? He reached out for help and everyone ignored him. Unfortunate. :(
Those are the times I really need someone to improve my faith in humanity
Humanity is the greatest source of its own heartache.
It seems like there is about 1/3 of the world that cares and 2/3 that are those that are ambivalent or those who want to tear the world apart. It feels like the latter number is growing everyday with more division, hate and violence.

Sean was also a victim and clearly messed up by his parents. He tried so hard to change and get people to like him after he was sent to jail. This story is tragic, I definitely do not think he deserved execution at all.
This is a classic case of “it doesn’t excuse it, but it does explain it.” I don’t sympathize for his crime, but I do sympathize for the child abuse he went through.
Hé was literally delusional and a child tho
Same here
The fact that he was reaching out to people when he was "hearing voices" and people were just naynay..

We moved nearly every year of my school aged years. I remember having the same feelings not to get too attached because I would just have to leave. It was very difficult for me. Also there was no explanation as to why we had to move. It was just something my parents did but didn’t think about the effects it would have on us. I vowed never to move my children unnecessarily as kids.
Military kids know how you feel. It was a bit dif though. We made friends quick because we knew we'd be separated sooner than later.

Hahaha funny!!!
The thing that upsets me most, other than the fact he killed 3 people, is that he literally went to SEVERAL different people for help. He stepped out of his comfort zone to try to get someone to listen to him and get him help and no one listened. If someone would have this whole case would never have happened. I feel bad for him on this part of his life.
That caught me too. Not only his mom, but TWO teachers did nothing!?!?

@@amandanegrete1306 yes! And teachers are mandatory reporters. So if children tell them or they see something they are supposed to report it. They are awful teachers.
Right, it’s clear he needed severe psychiatric help. This was all preventable
Honestly? Same. I'm a middle school teacher and got my school counselor's number on speed dial for a reason. If ANY of my babies show even a whiff of needing help, show signs of abuse, etc., I'm on the phone.
All of what happened with Sean was preventable.
@@wyvernofwinter5886 You’re an amazing teacher for that! I wish more were like you, especially his. Thank you for all you do!
This is such a sad story because he reached out for help 4 times. 3 of the 4 times he was brushed off and the 4th time was a bad influence. Makes me wonder what could have happened if he had a secure home and positive influences.
I can only imagine how crazy hearing voices for so long would make a person. I had auditory hallucinations thanks to a really high fever while sick; it only lasted a few hours but it was maddening since there is almost nothing you can do to ignore it; I seriously hope I never experience them again.
Wow... I didn't know this could happen. Sounds scary... 😦

He literally could’ve been helped if those teachers or his MOTHER listened to him
...or if his mother and the rest of his family wasn't a POS to him.
He would’ve (probably) been such a different person had his mother and stepfather decided against moving out of Colorado for the sake of their child’s happiness. Not to victim blame, but I feel like if you see that your child is blossoming into a find young adult and you CHOOSE to take that away from them? Completely selfish on the parents part. There were so many chances that someone could’ve helped this guy not become a POS.
They did listened to him. however, they didn't do anything to help or stop it. Actually it could have been prevented if they started right with the family in the first place. After all, our family I our role model and the way they treat us with affect our life.,
Blame the victim right? Smh

I’m so upset that Richard got away with his role in this. He was a Manson-esqe influence on Shawn. Shawn had reached out for help so many times before talking to Richard, it’s just sad. He should have gone into a psyche ward. Honestly, it’s also so messed up that his age mattered in court at all. His attorney was seeking an insanity plea…that alone should have been enough regardless of age.
that part was so confusing to me...
For sure. It sounds like he was suffering from schizophrenia to me.
no he needed a hug and words of our Heavenly Fathers words and glory
Ok
Yep, Richard is definitely the evil one here. Sean is deeply troubled, but Richard was the dominant of the duo and he called all the shots. He manipulated an extremely vulnerable person deliberately and premeditatedly
Hey Bailey! I would really love to see you do the story of H.H. Holmes.
Love that Bailey laughs at stuff that isn't particularly funny, I do the same! If it's too dramatic or heavy of a topic I tend to laugh, idk, maybe I'm uncomfortable idk! Lol
As a teacher, I am horrified and disgusted that the educators in Sean's life didn't get him the help that he obviously needed. There's no way they didn't know. Every single thing about him was a cry for help.
Sadly I can say it happens alot. I can't say how many times before i was 16 a teacher could have helped me and so many older foster kids i know. Since you are a teacher I know you have many opportunities to be that stable and honest person for them and hope you look into what kids say. Really think about it and be that constant as best you can.
So sad. He was failed at every turn
He really tried getting helped, he reached out to whoever he could and went ignored. It's so terrible that he was failed like that. I do remember plenty of teachers completely ignoring the "weird" kid in classes and even talking bad about them.
@@caaarnivorium You're not wrong there. I used to be that "weird kid," and got bullied both by kids and adults. When I went into education, I made a promise to myself that no one in my classroom would go through what I did. Ever.
I absolutely agree. And thank you for being a teacher. My grandmother was a teacher for 35 years. They always give her the bad kids. Because every time I went to her class she had a certain things going with every student. With like a 90% turnaround rate. Awesome woman
It wasn't Satanism. It was psychosis. A very serious problem. He asked 3 ADULTS. FOR HELP.
I was that thinking too. Hearing voices are not normal. Many psychiatric diseases have psychosis as one of their symptoms
@@Evikaefi1 I’m thinking he opened himself up to demons becuz of his satanism. Some of the things we allow into our lives will allow us to be detained for entry. He started to dabble in satanism and kept hearing voices that he called demons. Sometimes we gotta stop trying to put scientific names on things and just call it as it is. That boy was demon possessed. And I’m not masking excuses for him becuz he knew what he was doing. If he wasn’t caught when he was, he prolly would’ve started dabbling in child sacrifices and etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if he turnt Christian before he died, a lot of people who mess with stuff like that see the truth in religion and Satan and decided to convert to Christ b4 it’s too late
@@elijahspencer-burt967 Or he was mentally ill and interested in Satanism to rebel. He probably “converted” later to get off of death row, which is what I would have done too because I 100% believe he was only sentenced to death because of the satanist title he had and people like you who actually believe demon possession is real.
His psychosis fed off of Satanism. Scary. If he had gotten help before he met Richard i bet hs would have been okay
Sean Sellers was a Satanist. My mother is Angel and she told me and my siblings about him growing up.
Not a doctor, but it sounds like Sean may have had undiagnosed/untreated dissociative identity disorder or DID. Hearing voices, blacking out, losing time, feeling crazy, and having an extremely traumatic childhood are cumulative signs to talk to someone about DID.
Like others have said, it's truly heartbreaking that he was repeatedly ignored when asking for help, as he most likely could have been treated for whatever he was going through.
I do want to point out that regardless of his actual condition, those with DID are not statistically more prone to violent behavior. They are more often considered a possible danger to themselves, not others.
The stigma against those DID is so severe that sometimes people are scared to ask for help. If you have someone in your life coming to you for help like Sean tried to, please be understanding, listen to them, and do your best to get them professional help.
If you have DID, I love you and everyone in your system. You all matter and have a place in this world.
This is such a tragic story. It really gets me to think about how his life could’ve been so different if he could’ve stayed in the city he was thriving in, or if the adults later in his life paid any mind when he asked for help.
I can’t feel bad for the parents. They led him to that. He asked got help like a thousand times.

Can't take him seriously when the kid comes to an adult saying he's hearing voices and needs help, but want to try him as an adult after something horrific happens, likely because he didn't get the help he needed when he said he needed it. Which is it? Is he a teenager who doesn't know what he's talking about, or an adult who knows what he's doing? That is so sad and never should have happened.

So wait, Sean’s mom gives two craps about the fact her son admitted to and frequently hears very dark, disturbing voices telling him to do very dark and disturbing things but cares about who he’s dating? Priorities, man.

Wow. Just wow. And I thought my mom was bad. Jeeze
She seemed like a real nasty woman!! I kinda feel bad for him cause he told people about the voices but then again the way he killed that guy for fun was the part that doesn't make me feel as bad for him.
He did reach out for help not once, not twice but three times to three different adults. His mom and those teachers ignored his concerns and just didn’t care. Would he have still done what he did if he did get help? I don’t know, I’d like to think not but again, well never know. What I do know is that he wasn’t even given a chance to prove or disprove that question.

The butterfly clips are giving me late 90s vibes, love it! Cute 🥰
I have watched a lot of your videos and absolutely love them all and find them very intriguing. I wanted to tell you that baby blue is definitely one of your colors! Thanks for your time in the prep for all these videos, which is very apparent, and keep up the great work!
Wow. That kid was failed by everyone who should have had his best interest at heart.
We don't have the death penalty anymore here in Australia. Not only are your stories interesting, I like how you raise different points that I don't necessarily think of.
“Just going through those normal teenager hormonal changes, you know.
THE ONES WHERE YOU HEAR DEMONS AND SUCH”
These adults are the exact argument for sterilization!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“Oh you’re crazy? Get in line”
So funny!
🤣🤣🤣😂
I adore this makeup look! So stinking adorable and glowy! 😍😍
I listen all day at work, sometimes I can even peek to see how you did your makeup (and when I think you might show a photo)
🌺 your intro is comforting.
Just like Sylvia Likens, every adult in his life failed this child. He asked for help so many times.
The Sylvia Likens case was the one that made me the sickest to my stomach and I've watched/listened/read about sooo many cases, but what they did to her is horrifying beyond all words. Still makes me sick since I listened to it 4 years ago.

Bailey: Sean's mom did not like Angel. She would often bad mouth her in front of Sean...
Me: Uh-oh...She's dead.
Same here 😳

Haha I thought the same thing

Oh I love your videos Bailley!
Keep em comin’ love💖💖💖
It’s so mind blowing that events like this could have been prevented. They don’t always come forward and communicate but when they do, it seems like they’re often dismissed. I feel that in a lot of cases it could have been prevented if someone only listened.
Hi Bailey, we as the indigenous community would so appreciate if you covered the 215 indigenous children's remains that were found in Kamloops Indigenous residential school in British Columbia. And help bring awareness so we can continue to find more remains of children that have been lost. Thank you!
I also posted a comment for her to cover the Residential Schools in Canada. I really hope she sees your comment and decides to make a video quickly while it’s still being revealed to the world at the moment. How wonderful would it be to make a video about this and she posted some GoFundMe’s or anywhere people can donate!
Up
i second this, it should have more awareness!
Please do this one Bailey
check out her description box she has an email where she accepts story suggestions!!

@@mainanawacho5322 you're not alone
That's adorable! Also kinda dorky, but mostly adorable ❤️
This just made me sad for Sean. He was a product of his upbringing and what happens when a child is ignored by adults that think that they know best. Lesson to learn from this: always listen to your children. Don't be patronizing as they are never too young to tell you how they feel.
I've not watched you in a year I've missed you and your videos so much, I'm in the gym right now watching/listening to you♡♡

It's sad though because if they stayed in Colorado, things could have been so much better for the guy
Right?! I thought there HAD to be some way to allow him to stay where he was happy, someone couldn't have taken him in?? Why was it "we can't leave you here alone" and not "I'm sure one of your friend's families would be willing to help"???? I don't understand
@@ThisIsPodcastSpencer Seriously? There's so much wrong with this, but; how many parents are just going to leave their teenagers to live with someone else? It's the parents job to care for them.
Someone this messed up I doubt things would have been much different in CO. Maybe just those he hurt would be different.
@@djn1154 oh yeah, they were doing such a stellar job 🙄🙄
To say nothing about the people he killed
I remember reading in psychology that wetting the bed is a sign of a child being traumatized. Idk if that is still the reason. But maybe they did something to him and that's why he still wet the bed at 12
that was my immediate thought. any story where late stage bed wetting is mentioned, it’s usually linked with abuse anyway so just makes you think what other trauma this boy went through
Yeah or hormonal issues can be a factor as well, or being really overtired or being in an altered state or having a UTI. Lots of potential causes. But by 12 if its an issue he should have been seen by a doctor :(
It could have been that or also could have been a health issue but instead of them taking him to the dr.. they did that. What a-holes!
I was thinking about that too and it didn't surprise me...they regress...they will also poo 💩 the bed too.
@UCiCrguNBWATjcZFUv-iUEXg lol...did you fall asleep during your comment?

Yep, checks out.
I am curious if his life would have been different if they stayed in Colorado.
Definitely
he might have still had schizophrenia but he'd have an actual support group and not killed anyone
IMO, 100%
nah he wouldve gotten deeper and deeper into satanism and propabrly killed people sooner
You always look great Bailey, you make me laugh 😆.
I love your stories and the way you tell them like slumber party gossip.
Love this make up ! Love all colors looks fantastic on you 🌠

I just have to let you know that she said it at the exact same time I read your comment 🤣🤣🤣

Or nay nay
Crazy how the prosecutors wanted to charge him “like a man” for acting “like a man” when his uncle called him a wuss and “not a man” his entire life. Def doesn’t excuse his behavior but it’s so sad that every adult failed that child.
Sounds like you are definitely trying to make excuses though
