What's YOUR favorite anime?
My favourite anime is One Punch Man! And my childhood anime is Azumanga Daioh!
Yu-Gi-Oh is one of my favourite, where can I find Japanese anime to watch
@@admiralyamato299 Sad that the creator died...
Favorite anime: Gurren Lagann - I watched three times and I enjoy it! ^.^ (And then seen the recap movies once, which I plan to watch again.)
very well said~ Mrs Eats~🙌🏻 I am a former Animator, you bring back my memory of my Animation History Class from College time ❤️❤️
I have to admit the scene where mr eats was getting arrested made me burst out laughing, I wasn't expecting that. Hopefully he learned his lesson.
Today in Japan, even just admitting you watch anime, PERIOD, would have your friends and co-workers calling the police on you….
But if it helps any, yes, we fans in the west are also getting weary of “I Quit My Job, Was Hit By a Car, and Woke Up in an Alternate Universe Where I’m Now a Virgin Wizard, But I Can’t Tell the Princess, Who I Found Out is My Old School Senpai That Hates Me!”
At least Mr. Eats didn't put "Sakura Diaries" in the script. If he did that then Mrs. Eats would be more shocked at what anime he watches.
@@tlst94 ??? 🤨
This is so sad 😞 I can't believe Mr. Eats was given five life sentences without parole.
He'll never survive in Green Dolphin Street Prison!
😔
It's true... he's dead now
Don’t worry Mr eats is planning his escape in the next 2 mins
Gotta love when things come full circle. American cartoons inspired anime and now anime inspires American cartoons.
Wasn't that basically shows like Power Puff Girls and Dexters' Lab?
@@user-sn1hi7my7x not really sure about those shows. Was thinking like how in Disney’s Amphibia the last few episodes of the series basically turns the show into an anime.
How do you explain the various anime and manga that don't have many big eyes or other goofy proportions?
@@ericbreaux6124 iirc, the big eyes and goofy proportions are relatively recent stylistic changes in manga and anime history. Most anime that I remember watching that aired prior to the mid-2000s favored realistic character design. It’s really been in the last two decades that unrealistic proportions became the norm.
And really that’s all it is, a style choice. There was never a hard-fast rule saying that anime has to use a particular art style in order to be anime.
@eli_rook I know. That's why I don't get why so many people say the anime style was derived by Disney influence.
I wouldn’t be surprised Disney was an impression. The first artists also fell in love with those big eyes. ❤️
Sora from Kingdom hearts actually looks like Mickey Mouse.
Big eyes comes from Ralph Fleysher, creator of Betty Boop, Disney actually created nothing but a rabbit cartoon.
@@germanbustos2272 Ralph Fleysher? Did he work for Dave Fleischer?
Reminds me of an old Daffy Duck cartoon. He was singing "Jeepers, creepers. Where did you get those peepers? Jeepers, creepers. Where did you get those eyes 👀 ".
How do you explain the various anime and manga that don't have many big eyes or other goofy proportions?
The info about Walt Disney inspiring anime is crazy cause nowadays newer cartoons are inspired by anime. Full circle lol
@HeavenHell89 look at bambi
Yes but you can see the similarities between them.
Yeah. I notice that superhero show in here in the West, it looks very anime-like from Japan with a western twist.
i have always said that the japanese are "masters of synthesis", meaning that they take any concept, including foreign ones, and synthesize it with japanese sensibilities as well as "kaizen", or constant improvement, to make their own amazing (and often better) versions.
Yeah, great innovations. Of course, woke weenies would just accuse them of appropriation.
@@BurgerwithPeanutButtter tell me you don’t know what appropriation is without telling me you don’t know what appropriation is
@@venus4424 Tell me you're a woke weenie without telling me you're a woke weenie.
That was the entire point. They scream and cry "appropriation" about anything and everything.
@@BurgerwithPeanutButtter you must really love buzzwords

You guys are hilarious. I wasn't expecting to go from learning about how anime was inspired by Disney, to learning how bidets in Japan came about 😂. It was all very interesting though.
Meanwhile, when SEGA hit the Italian market with its SEGA Mastersystem game consol, the company had to slightly change the pronounciation of the brand into | see-gah | (like in "to see", or "sea"), because a "sega" in Italian is a vulgar word describing what a guy does while giving pleasure to himself 😅
That’s hilarious lmao
That intro had me laughing so damn hard. Amazing.

Oddly, Disney's Bambi was based partly on Chinese art styles. The cartoon
character Betty Boop was an inspiration for anime including the big eyes.
As part of a cultural exchange between Japan and the United States,
Paramount Pictures provided a musical short starring Betty Boop in
"A Language Of My Own". In the audience was the man who is considered
the grandfather of Japanese anime and he used Betty as the model for some
future characters he had planned.
You can find the Betty Boop cartoon here on CZcams.
"In the audience was the man who is considered
the grandfather of Japanese anime and he used Betty as the model for some
future characters he had planned.", so the fleichers were aware of tezuka?
@@andreberryii7037 Betty Boop was introduced in 1930.
Tezuka was born in 1928.
This had me tearing up from laughter Especially that first part😂. Ghibli movies were my favorite growing up.
10:12 "YEAAAAHHH!!! SHAKE IT BABY!!!!"😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀
In the anime for Tezuka’s “Bagi”, the villainess not only uses “Mirror, mirror on the wall” to open her communication screen, but sends out a henchman assassin to bring back the heroine’s heart…Yes, in the Wicked Queen’s heart-box.
I’m not sure whether that was in Tezuka’s original manga, or whether the anime team was having a little fun with Osamu’s Disney fandom. 😅
As if Disney was super original....The sentence "Mirror, mirror on the wall" (as well as the whole story) is originally from a German fairytale.
Thank you so much for this video! I've tried explaining this to so many who have no idea how much the US influenced the growth and direction of Anime and Manga. I was in Japan in the early and mid '70s and saw the beginning of the "comics" explosion, and could see the big-eyed, infantilizing resemblance to Disney, Barbie, etc. And, absolutely loved your opener about the older guy ... your thoughts were exactly how I experience such news reports. It was very cathartic!
I love their comedy skits they add into their videos. Great couple...wish I had that :(((((

And then…there’s Jungle Emperor vs. Lion King (where Tezuka’s estate did sue Disney, but without incident), that diehard Disney loyalists and hypnotized 90’s kids still deny to this day: 🦁🙄
Anime was almost literally UNKNOWN in the US before the early 90’s, apart from cheap dubbed afternoon kids shows, and f you were one of the underground fans in the late 80’s, you always heard “Japanese animation? Oh, I remember Astro Boy, Speed Racer and Kimba from the 60’s!”
I literally lol'd at "some people burned their asshole".
The pervy potty humor does it for me every time. I don't know what that says about me..but I don't care. 🙃
I grew up watching Kimba, Astro Boy, Speed Racer, Captain Harlock, Starblazers, etc. I think these were some of the first anime series that were translated into English. Tezuka Osamu did a wonderful eight volume manga story of the Buddha as well.
If you wondered why (depending on art style) many anime characters appear a bit more western than Asian, here is your answer. The general art style is a direct descendant of western animation. Look at the spokes in Astro boys hair. Identical position to Mickey mouse’s ears 😄
(Sailor moon would be forced by her school to dye her hair black at least according to one naturally blonde hafu I spoke with)
what is a hafu?
@@nachosNipples slang for someone who is half Japanese
@@nachosNipples slang for “half Japanese”. A mixed race Japanese person.
If she's half Japanese she can't have _blonde_ hair, that's a recessive gene, you need two copies.
@@MelkorPT maybe she was less than 50% Japanese. I didn’t consult her family tree. She looked Japanese just dirty blonde
LOL was hilarious. I heard that Disney helped inspire anime; but hearing the details was cool and shows how the world can influence each other to create new things.

Hey Mrs Eats hope you and Mr Eats are doing well miss you a lot, also found all your past live streams replays it doesn't show up in my recommended list?

I watched that 'shaved and took in runaway' anime and loved it. I felt really protective over the girl, like the lead character did. It looked like it was going to be dodgy, but I was told to persevere and I'm glad I did.
The first published animation of Walt Disney occured in 1928 (steam boat willie).
The earliest piece of Japanese animation found to date is from 1907 called Katsudō Shashin (活動写真). The film is only 3 seconds long and consists of just fifty frames showing a boy dressed in a sailor suit drawing the characters for Katsudō Shashin.
Shingachō: Meian no Shippai was released in February 1917.
The title for this video is an incorrect statement.

Not nearly as exciting as Denny's and Mr. Eats' favorite show, but the contributions of W. Edwards Deming to Japan's industrial rebirth in the 1950's was significant.

By the way-- it's not Japanese Denny's by any means, but you should look up "what the f**k is up, Denny's" on here. An American hardcore punk band played a show in an abandoned Denny's in California a few years back. Funny stuff! Another fun and interesting fact regarding Denny's is that the famous mangaka Eguchi Hisashi (who wrote the awesome and very ahead-of-it's-time manga "Stop Hibari-kun!!") did illustrations for the Denny's menu at one point! So cool!!

In defense to Mr. Eats "Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway" was actually a wholesome show telling a controversial topic or standards in
Japanese way of life. Its such a roller coaster of emotions that...
Mrs. Eats : moshi moshi police desu ka?
k bye
I know! Higehiro was really good!!
The sad part is that there's a lot of minors and teens in Japan actually living on the street and staying alive through sex work and dating services.
I'm a bit disappointed they made this joke without giving attention to the real issue!
The first version I know is that anime was influenced by earlier cartoons like Betty Boop.
One thing that I think is a fundamental part of what makes manga and anime is definitely Hokusai Manga, the sketchbooks of Katsushika Hokusai.
I had no interest in manga and anime when I came to Japan, but when I sort of found the missing links in between the traditional arts and saw the lineage leading to their modern counterparts, I came to understand it a lot more (at least to some extent).
The sketches of Hokusai are so vivid and alive they ARE animation in their own right. There are even series of movements drawn as separate images on the same page, so they are practically the same thing unanimated. And as an animator myself I instantly fell in love with those sketches, because animation is at its best an art that is created inside the mind of the viewer, practically it is nothing else but still images that trick your brain into thinking there is movement or dimension. That is what I love about it, series of still images, and the rest is up to the supercomputer you carry inside your skull!
what a fantastic skit xD Very youtube Meta love it!

I don't know if you knew this or but there's rumors out there that Osamu Tezuka and Walt Disney actually met each other at the 1964 New York's World's Fair and they complimented one another
AND HERE'S THE BIGGEST RUMOR: apparently one of them (I don't know who exactly) actually proposed doing a collaboration and work on a film ith each other
Where can I find a Miss Eats? Mr. Eats is so lucky.
That opening though lmao. I was half expecting the “FBI OPEN UP” meme lol.
I think it is interesting in the perception of 7-Eleven owning the Denny's franchise in Japan means excellent quality food and ingredients, where as if the American Denny's was owned by the American 7-Eleven, Americans would have the exact opposite perception.
In my area all of the former Speedway locations are starting to phase in 7-Eleven structure. I am not optimistic that it will improve the stores.
I guess because 711 in Asia is just different. We love 711 here. Too bad in my country the brand failed (due to the owner being corrupted last I heard and competitor from 2 local brands)
Mr. eats is a man of culture also i do agree that higehiro is a good anime
