But WHY does this town honor evil spirits? And what other DARK SECRETS does it hold? Today, I’m gonna find out!

Which Yokai are YOU scared of??
I knew about the cucumbers...did not know about the soul removal..
Any kind of Oni. They are terrifying.
Tengus can be frightening, Nue also. But personal favourites of mine are the Cirrunup and the Kitsunes. But Any spider related yōkai will do thetrick
Heheh, I'm not like scared of spirits as 'evil' or whatnot just for being spirits, my tradiions about em have em as more likely dangerous for being tricky and having their own set of rules than being all malicious or predatory. Japan does have some scary yokai, though. (I can't think of a particular one that comes to mind. And I could be in trouble if I met one of the ones that you might be screwed if you're nice to on the street or something. :) )
Scared, no. my favorite Yokai is the Yuki Onna ❤
I respect them for their decision to say "Fuck this, we'll be weird."
That's just every Japanese town though.
@@bryandavidasuncion9515Another reason why Japan rocks. It's like Halloweentown if it was a country
@bryandavid no cause I am currently living in Japan and this is accurate and strange. This isn't fake. I have never seen this village but maybe this is a place my Japanese fiancé and I can go and check out.
@@mayajasinski5972 I'm not saying its fake I'm joking that all Japanese towns are weird in someway in response to LaNoir
@@Cuban20you are so naive sounding lmao
There's a kids show my son used to watch about these demons. It's neat to see some of the statues not animated but in a real video. Love Mrs eats! ❤️
Yes I know it! Yokai Watch! When he come to Japan, he can see the real YOkai!!
I was sure you were gonna say Pokemon since I remember christians calling them satanic or something like that😂
@@DagonMX my kids watched that too lol. I still have the toy watch I bought for my son that you can put different demon cards into from yo Kai watch!
My son also loved Yokai watch!!
@@MrsEats I'm into Japanese women that love blackmen
I like the shift in narrative in your recent videos. More serious and thoughtful than before while still holding up some humour that made me love this channel.
Even the local lady in the town agreeing to act up, that's so heartwarming!
another great story Mrs Eats - I like the way you show us Japanese culture, history and places of interest in a light-hearted fashion.
Thank you so much!
SPOILER!
So, essentially, the whole town turned itself in to an educational museum of exhibits to honour a man who dedicated his life & career to discovering & preserving an element of Japanese Culture & heritage. That is So COOL great Vidi! 😎☕💋
Man, that place is a paradise to anybody who is a fan of the Nurariyon no Mago, Shin Megami Tensei, Yokai Watch, or any other franchises that dabble in Japanese folklore.
My fellow yokai watch buddy
GeGeGe no Kintaro.
Japanese folklore has been featured as conceptual artifacts in film and anime since the 1960’s like Ge Ge Ge No Kitaro or a Letter To Momo. Spiritual practices in Japan are very interesting and they allow for kami’s to illustrate rhyme and reason for animistic adaptations of their belief systems. Thanks for going on a yokai hunt Mrs. Eats the video was enlightening.
I believe the author of Ge ge no Kitaro was born in this town.
I love all those words you said ~
@@jeanneganrude8549 I love that you responded with love and light, thanks very much!
This is such a fun channel to watch and Mrs. Eats always makes these topics more entertaining. I think the Futakunchi Onna was the most scary demon in the video. Perfect video to watch before Halloween.
Always loved your videos and the quality was always great. But recently your editing, music and storytelling became really next level. But I also still enjoy your food videos. Thanks for putting that much work into it and giving cultural context to it.
Very nice job!! This is better than some stories Ive seen on Discovery and/or History channel. Well done!
That was such a brilliant conclusion, I love it!
It’s always interesting to see how these beings are represented in different cultures, and the different ones from around the world. It looks like they wanted people there to acknowledge them more.🤔
I love your vid’s and wish you continued success!✨
Thank you! Yes it is very fun to see the differences between these kind of thing around the world!!
They want the statues created and out in the open for people to worship them.
It gives them power. 👹👺
@@briansmith48 Power they should never have. Sure, they may seem friendly, but they are wolves in sheep's clothing. Literally, in some cases.
@@linkskywalker5417 Well, I must agree with you 👍
This video was super awesome!!! I'm so glad you gave the background of the town.
So awesome! Thank you for taking us with you :D
Dallas, Texas 💙🌻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very cute video. I just watched the full-length version on Patreon. Thank you for showing us the interesting village!
Oh my gosh, what an unexpectedly wholesome ending!! Your videos are just getting better and better❤❤
Love this video! Can’t wait to see more❤
I love you, Mrs. Eats! So educational and hilarious at the same time! I learn something from every one of your videos and I also have to laugh out loud at least once (usually more). I look forward to enjoying your videos as soon as they come out. Please keep them coming!
I love this video ❤. I noticed what I think is my favorite Yokai in the background video shots at the beginning, the Yuki Onna. Thank you for posting this video ❤
Thanks for sharing another great video! Please make sure to thank Mr. Eat's as well for all his work as the producer!!
for a country once known for overcrowding the empty streets are the most creepy thing around
Your voice, accent, and reactions…I’m hooked!
This is so cool! Thanks for showing us this rad place
I lived in Japan for two years as a missionary and I love your videos because I miss Japan
Thank you!
That is great reflection in the end about your inner demons. Well said. Proud of you. :)
Thank you so much!
*adds location to list of places to visit* Lol! Love this! Thanks for sharing this place with us! 🥰
This was great! Thank you. I'm subscribing.
The real demons are the friends you make along the way.
YOU ARE MISTAKE YOUR NOT A CHRISTIAN.DEMONS ARE THE FALLEN ANGELS THROWN OUT OF HEAVEN.
So happy to see you Mrs Eats. Your videos make my day 🫶
I'm so glad!
Loved this video so much. I love all the different types of Yokai. I blame my love of Kakurangers for getting me started on them. The umbrella one is always my favorite.
Had fun watching....thanks for the great content
The song was "Fur Elise" by Beethoven
English as Second Language Teacher (ESL) and I have to give you kudos (noun: praise and honor received for an achievement,).
I do!
And your husband is quite charming! I think he's Japanese American....? Yikes! I'm not sure but I love how he interjects himself in your videos.
I love your videos because they help me learn about Japanese culture and I have a lot of fun watching them. I hope to visit your country one day. It's one my bucket list! Cheers!
All the best.
I love this video, everything about it is so cool. ☺️
I love this video. Best way to vlog, is with a story time!
This video really interesting, I love your content.😁
Yes I love videos like this that show the creepy parts of Japan or places. I find it so interesting rather than ALWAYS watching and seeing videos on the cute stores, food, and etc in Japan. I like seeing ALL of it, and this video was very interesting.
omg, I have learned of some of these demons because of video games like Okami i used to play but seeing the statues and learning more about the lore of some anime "tropes" I have seen throughout the years, these are hilarious! XD i laughed so hard at the woman that had a mouth behind her head, and the little gremlin with one eye, that tricks passerby's to look at their butt eye. These are both creepy and cool at the same time Japan's folklore is interesting and fun
They're "clichés", not tropes.
There’s many places considered “haunted” all over Japan, and “Youkai” are a very interesting take on folkloric animism which evolved throughout the years….
That being said, if you seriously want to experience something haunting or with a heavy vibe in Japan, check out the temple of Byodoin in Uji, Kyoto. That temple contains a giant Amitabha Buddha statue with a really creepy and ominous aura to it.
This was utterly brilliant and fascinating.
I recall Rumiko Takahashi had studied the folklore history of Japan... and I can tell you this video made me return to InuYasha 😂
This was a fun one to watch, very playful!
Yay! A Mrs. Eats video!
Amazing video. My family is really into Japanese Yokai stories ❤
I don't whats scarier, this town or Nagaro doll village in Japan.
I love this. You are so funny, and also help us learn about another culture. Thank you for your videos; you always make me smile and laugh ❤️
Really interesting town and fun video. 😂 Thank you 😊
Demons aside did you try the noodles?
That is great that the area wants to pay homage to the man who studied folklore around Japan, very cool :)
Great video, i relly love it thank you.
Alright, that's it!! I'm moving there! Much love!!
Nürnberg, Germany has a lot of statues showing grotesque pieces and death. Quite captivating and awesome in my opinion.
I'm always fascinated with yokai thanks to games and anime like Okami and Gegege no Kitaro.
It sucks that I was unable to visit the village during my trip to Japan not long ago as there was a hurricane (or was it a monsoon) during my visit and the shinkansen stations are crowded as heck, leaving me stuck at Tokyo during the entire week.
I love this message ❤
Thank you!
It's been a long time since I've had commented on Mrs Eats' channel. Great video Mrs Eats. I never knew this kind of town existed in Japan. I wish one day I could travel to Japan and visit haunted locations alone by myself. I've done paranormal hunting in my country Malaysia. I never seen any ghost so far but I heard knocking sounds behind me and heard a faint woman's voice, calling my name. I never feel so excited in my life experienced these things. Maybe next I should try experience paranormal hunting in Japan. By the way, I never heard of ancient or modern day Japanese people practicing black arts or black magic. Is it true Mrs Eats?
Great video just in time for Halloween! Those Ka-ppa are pretty freaky! 😱😳😵💫
I am glad you overcame your fears!
A day where Mrs. Eats releases a video is a good day.
This has been a Kancho-centric episode indeed
Please keep them coming and also give my respects to Mr. Eats too!!!
This was fantastically funny and fun. Gollum from Lord of the Rings is stealing soul ball from the bunghole! You guys did this so well.
LIKED right after watching the shirikodama montage.
I love Japan. The country has such interesting towns and cultural expressions. Yeah, it's a little creepy/scary, but where else can you find a town like this on Earth? 😅
salem?
San Francisco? 😂😂😂
This was an absolute gem 🤗🥰
Great content 🎉
Cool video. Next time I go to Japan I'm checking out this town. :"D I want to see some Karasu Tengu!
Great show 🎉should have brought some Sai! Choice weapon of the Chinese door guard 😬
Very çute video with a very important message! Arigato👍
If you invite demons, they will come. If any person there saw a demon manifest in true form they would not welcome it.
Another great video! I first heard about kappa when I was a kid thanks to the third live-action Ninja Turtles movie from the 90s and an episode of Arthur 🤣
Thumbs up thanks for sharing 👍
Japan has such nice looking mountains.
Mrs. Eats screaming while the kappa was taking her shirikodama had me dying laughing! Would love to visit here, so unique and interesting
Butt eye… oyó pollo (chicken eye) or brown eye or chocolate star in slang here in US where I’m at in TX. This gives a whole new meaning though to the act of “mooning” someone. I’m pretty sure what you heard was some type of owl but can’t say that for sure since I’m not completely familiar with the potential wildlife geographically around there either by experience nor by educationally manner. But it sounded like an owl from what I could hear. I’ve always wanted to travel out East out of US but just hadn’t been able to make it happen yet but hopefully before it’s too late to do so for me I will finally get to do so. That town sounds very engaging & curious. I love learning about the more culturally kind of taboo or morbid & macabre or dark & not always most common aspects of other cultures & places & the people in communities. & food lol besides the linguistics & symbols & traditions & spiritual aspects. It’s fascinating how these differences are merely truly all just variated expressions that draw all from the same yet different reflected projections of life in this state of human existence here in this worldly condition. Just odd how people out there can be so culturally divisive & have such enmity for other human beings based off of appearances or cultural expressions that are just a different variated expression but from the same darn well of human being condition & existence here. Thank you for sharing & I learned some new things & made more commonalities in those interesting connections cross culturally & that’s always something I welcome & find fascinating & truly appreciate much gratitude! Thank you! ❤
i was just mesmerised by the infrastructure of houses and beauty of nature in this town would love to see this and japanese culture with my own eyes.
That's Beethovens 5th...my favorite classical piece ❤
I thought that it was related to a town where rich and powerful Japanese elites went to make deals directly with demons and Satanists groups...also a town that is really not Japan where no one is allowed to go in and out. That's not Japan anymore and once you enter it's a totally isolated community in the middle of nowhere and it inspired some video games...
Mrs. Eats, what is the book you are reading at 4:47? Would you recommend it for Yokai studies? Does it have lots of colorful illustrations?
Love your videos. I will def get me a Kancho t-shirt kancho-sensei !
Can you include a map pin of where you were? Just trying to find some good camping areas nearby. Thank you.
I still wouldn't mind visiting someday, looks like a lovely town! And I enjoy all of the different yokai stories.
This video was an unexpected delight too my day
You know what's wierd, having a hoodie on and a 90s visor at the same time, lol.
Happy Halloween, Mrs Eats! 🎃
Beethoven played over the loudspeakers is creepy. I like this stuff. So you guys have "gnomes," too, huh. ;)
the song playing over the speakers was Fur Eluise
0:56 I think playing Beethoven's Für Elise is nice. It's in a minor key, so it can sound a little sad sometimes, but it's a staple (at least in the west it is).
Hey Mrs. Eats, can you tell me which anime clips did you use for this video?
This nonsense video was absolutely ridiculous and preposterous... I am now subscribed to this channel and have proceeded to watch more videos from this channel and plan to keep on going 😄
Great work. Super fun videos. You have a new fan.
Does anyone know the anime at the beginning of the video (2:45)
Love the content. Thank you for the video
I plan on visiting this place. The whole trip I'm saving up for in Kansai is to visit all these yokai related places. The yokai and folklore is my favorite part of Japan. And my favorite yokai is the kitsune
nice, clean and quiet.. really my faves..
That one guy brings new meaning to brown eye😹 I would ask a tengu for a blessing if I went there
Lol I'm sure you know it's midnight sonata that's playing over the speakers You're very clever very funny for associating it with never going to give you up lol
In Kyoto there's a street where many of the shops have yokai statues. Not as high quality as these but it's still a bit of fun if you like that sort of thing.
Your work are hilarious.😂
If anyone wants to see a great anime that features many different kinds of yokai and seems to have fairly accurate depictions of them and their ways check out Kakuriyo no yadomeshi (Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits). One of my favorite yokai in this is a little Kappa who does indeed....love cucumbers. The show has oni, kitsune, tengu, etc, and is a great romantic comedy as well. And the Mrs Eats channel is superb!
I must have missed it, where exactly is this village? what is its name?
How incredibly cool. And cool of the town to let this happen
What you don't know, can't hurt you, but what you search for, might get you.
So scary and fun! Don’t steal my spirit balls!!😅
I got scared for a minute, I though Mr. Eats was going to have to find you.
