I used to go to the gym 6 days a week and worked out almost 2 hours every session, eventually i got injured and had to quit gym for almost a year, i just recently returned to the gym and followed dorians HIT philosopy and i am blown away on how much muscle i have gained and how much fat i have lost in a short amount of time, the progress i have is so much greater than when i went 6 days a week. Thank you dorian! I wish i can shake your hand one day

Can you please explain to me how you Train?I have been training for 2-3 Years But nothing really consistent and always changing exercises, programs and everything and my Poor recovery and a bunch of unhealthy lifestyle doesn’t do me any favor But I was thinking to give it a try -Dorians method,But I don’t know what exatcly that is?Is it Maybe doing every exercise 2-3 warm up sets and then one working Set to failure and beyond with force reps and dropset that one Set? And everything else connected to programmimg?Thank you

It's a trip. I use to volume train for most of my life and wasn't getting anywhere. I built muscle but just kept hitting plateaus. Then started HIT and I'm growing non stop very quickly 😃

@@charlesgreen3214 youll eventually need a training partner to help you go to absolute failure, force reps, negatives etc. and if you are really doing 1 set per exercise once per week you really have to make it count which could be hard to do

@@marino5459 hello, i train legs on a monday, chest and bicep tuesday, rest on wed, back on thursday, shoulder and triceps on friday, rest sat, and cardio on sunday, then repeat, i will do 1-2 warmup sets usually with moderate strain, then go all out on the working set, focusing more on time under tension and the negatives, also rest is absolutely important, sleep and eat well and the keyword is be consistent, to be honest the month of december i was very inconsistent with my training and diet, i got sick twice so i missed a lot of gym sessions, but when i do go to the gym i would absolutely go all out high intensity, extra negatives and rest pause, i also wasnt eating well and was drinking a lot, i thought i was messing up my progress but i actually still gained 2.6 lbs of muscle and lost 3.2 lbs of fat!

@Tony i never said HIT was the only way, but obviously it worked wonders for me better than when i was doing high volume, not knocking high volume at all, but if i can make more gains and see better results using less time, then its a win win for me.

I think Arnold was a made man and he was obviously propped up by his handler, Joe Weider, who founded the now famous Mr Universe and Mr Olympia, IFBB, all the magazines, supplement industry as we know it, etc.
      Of course he won anyway.

Plenty of studies back up the whole 1 set is enough to trigger hypertrophy.
For some , volume workouts are actually harder to recover from. If you're someone who likes to do 8 exercises for 3 sets each and spend 90 mins in the gym doing junk volume and it works, do it.
If you're someone who wants to be in and out in 45 mins and still get good results, do it.
Both work, do what you enjoy and what you will stick to!
Personally I love HIT style of workouts but you need to be sensible in your exercise selections when doing it. Better on machines than free weights unless its dumbbell isolations imo.

But what I always asked myself when I listen to Mike or Dorian it sounds like yes you stimulate growth with one set but studies have shown that you can get more growth with 2 or 3 sets. I personally do 2 or 3 sets and like 2 or 3 exercises for each muscle and it works perfectly fine when I take a rest for 6 or 7 days. But you're right everyone should train how he wants to train.

  • @tonymcnamara9368
    @tonymcnamara9368 Před rokem +1

There's pro's and cons for both higher volume training, and HIT methods.
One way won't work infinitely, as anyone who's trained for a number of years will tell you, progress isn't linear, and we experience peaks and troughs over time.
The same goes with nutrition, our bodies adapt over time, and we need to change aspects to keep progressing.
Even with chemical enhancement, progress isn't linear, it must be either added to, or altered over time as our bodies adjust.
We want lean muscle growth, with minimum adipose fat accumulation the body doesn't! It wants to be in a perpetual state of homeostasis.
    It's a difficult fight. 🙏

But periods I switch to volume training to recover from a few months of HIT, my gains do slow down a lot. Then back in HIT they start again like crazy. Makes me wonder if it would be better to just take 2 weeks to rest then start HIT again.

When the body adapts to such stress and is constantly getting stronger using the method and obtaining either more reps, on increasing the weight the body has no choice but to grow and won’t hit plateau. That’s a scientific fact and if one executed such they’d learn that.
