Wow, he's actually being honest. Most guys would lie and say you need this stuff specifically the protien shake, get the creatine, here's my Bcaas etc. before and after. But he said any protien source works. Just get it in 5 times a day. I love it.

now that I'm 61 and still training, and after doing much research, I've increased my protein intake drastically and noticed a huge difference. The biggest one is that I crave less sugar

Personally, 6 x per day, breakfast, mornos, lunch, arvo, evening, before bed. I use three different protein powders. Whey isolate, high carb and casein. About 120g, I weigh 95kg. I've done this for about 3 months. Before that I did 2x perday. Since boosting up the intake I've easily noticed gains. Training cycle per week, 72hr break between muscle groups. Good video.
Remember way back when DY range arrived, back then the tubs where like old ice cream shape tubs. Was great tastsing and thick so perfect for bed time.
So definitely be be buying again

Just starting my research on DY nutrition products and so far I like the low-cal high-protein levels of this product... I've tried a few brands out over the years (like most people) and now I look for clean-low cal high protein products that mix well in a cheap shaker (i don't want to have to deal with a bullet every time I want a shake) and that taste great and don't have a fake-sugar chemical taste.

Dorian thanks a lot first off. Throughout the years listening to people and reading articles, the most trustworthy always mention you somewhere. From Doug Mcguff to Drew Baye and those alike.
Dunno if this is the appropriate place to ask or not but my target weight is 185 pounds; meaning 185g of protein a day. To the best of my knowledge doing this most efficiently is 37g per meal which comes out to five meals a day. Am I on the right track?

Hi Ben, the benefit of isolate is that is a very rapid source of protein for post-workout. But, because it has a very high bioavailability it can even be used before workout, to provide the essential amino acids. The advanced bodybuilders use it not only after workout but also in the morning, to get a better recovery from strenuous high-intensity training and to "feed" the muscles. Therefore, the main benefit of isolate is high & fast absorption. Hope it helps!

What about straight after a workout that's the most important time your body needs to absorb protein to stop catabolism from happening also just take when you need to have protein or a meal before bed is good for milk protein as slow release
I take it Dorian would be a fan of 16:8 intermittant fasting. I do that, because it helps me keep my weight down, but I only get 2 times a day to eat and get protein.

I’ve seen supplements get better and better over the 35 years I’ve been training I’m now in my 50s. I make protein so I’ve got every different type of protein powder you could imagine. I generally use protein shakes 3 times daily in which I’ll use diet whey protein twice daily and a whey protein mix with bcaas and creatine. I also mix a plant based smart protein scoop in blueberry porridge but also my in Greek yogurt. I generally eat four meals a day but I fast on Mondays from sunrise to sunset and won’t drink or eat till sunset giving my body rest.

Hello Dorian! Is it true that there is no use taking more than around 30g of protein per meal? I once read that taking more than 30g of protein per meal does nothing but make your poop expensive :) At the same time many athlets, at least in their videos on youtube, make their food with 50-60 g of protein per serving.. I am a bit confused with this, and would appreciate your advice here a lot! Thanks anyway for you work! -Borka

I've noticed when I have tried various Whey Proteins here in the US. Not sure about DY products tho. Best I've found is Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein, it says it is free of any artificial colorings, flavors and sweeteners, including sucralose, acesulfame potassium and aspartame.
The best time to take protein is when you can afford it which for me is: Never.

In 99.99 percent of all cases regular food with 180 -200 grams of chicken, fish, red meat or lean pork 4-5 times a day is the best way to build muscle. Proteinpowder should only be a supplement to that if it,s too long between meals or if you are in a hurry.
This kidney specialist that my mom used to work for would say that protien powders are bad for the kidneys. I get my protein from meat and eggs.
Its the other way round. People with bad kidneys should take less nitrogen (protein) in general, regardless of source, as their mechanism of getting rid of byproducts is compromised.
The only way I can think of that whey protein powders could damage kidneys is if they have some contaminants, or harmful additives other than filtered whey. Unfortunately, most vendors are fairly dodgy in their formulations and quality control guarantees. At least the big ones are.
@@fitnesschannel3931 I did the exact opposite. I had gotten dehydrated and lacked potassium. It damaged my kidneys so much that it got submitted to the ER. I went back to eating eggs, continued eating my steaks and ground beef but I added bone broth and stayed away from veggies like I have been. Went back a month later for my labs and everything was back to normal.

The only way I can think of that one could get that dehydrated on whey protein powder is if they're severely lactose intolerant and large servings continuously. Intolerance > water loss along with potassium via severe diarrhea. Then continuous dehydration + oxalate rich intake (some veggies/tea or something) leading to kidney stone > moved > pain > ER.
Because whey protein is nothing more than dried up whey that is left when cheese is separated from milk.
Another possible mechanism could happen with an adulterated product. Like if they added some diuretics. Which though highly unlikely, but not unimaginable, could explain all of these findings.
@@fitnesschannel3931 You may be right. I don't take protein powders. Oxalic acid is why I don't eat veggies anymore. On rare occasions I'll have some, but never salads. I don't think I'm lactose intolerant. I can drink milk and be fine. It may be the extra ingredients or preservatives in frozen or packaged food that gets me.
