The WORST Episode of Rick and Morty

- So, I finally decided to make an actual video instead of posting clips of shows. After 2 whole months of procrastinating and a combined 15 hours of work, it is done.
In today's video I talk about the absolute WORST episode of Rick and Morty, which is an episode from Season 5 (not season 6) called Rickdependence Spray. Having the lowest rating on IMDB (5.7/10) it is pretty clear that the fandom didn't like the direction this episode was going. Despite all the hate and controversy surrounding it, they have sadly kept the incest theme in some more recent episodes such as Bethic Twinstic. All in all, I'd say the episode had its high points as well, there were a few times where it made me breathe out of my nose but nothing spectacular.
We have also seen some episodes where the plot has a similar structure to this one. One of those episodes is The Vat of Acid Episode, which is actually my favorite episode in the entire show. Morty does something wrong which leads Rick into teaching him a lesson. However, in Rickdependence Spray Morty is left unpunished unlike The Vat of Acid Episode in which Morty gets traumatized for life.
Main reason I hate this episode: Morty is treated like God and is left unpunished at the end. Other than that, it's just a mid episode with an almost non-existent subplot.

Honestly the main reason people hated this episode was because it was "disgusting and tastless" as the writer - Nick Rutherford puts it. The main plot was really weak and the subplot was almost non-existent.
The really forced continuity of the "incest baby" doesn't do it any favors either.
I do understand why some people might argue that it's not the WORST episode, but it is definitely one of the weakest episodes in the entire series.
I think it’s a weird thing to get this upset about anyway. The whole show is disgusting and tasteless, and that’s where a lot of the humor comes from. They’ve been making jokes about sperm, farts, incest, vomit, sodomy, ped0philia, etc. since season 1 and I really don’t see why this episode is supposedly so much worse than all of that.
@@Vgamer311 1-off gags aren't anything bad, they're what make the show fun and entertaining. But this episode really felt rushed, out of place and just tasteless. Edgy humor in rick and morty seems to fit pretty well when it's done correctly.
The beth self incest episode was the worst episode. They never call Beth on her bs and she gets away with doing horrible things Scott free in a condescending way. It was a forced bad plot made conceived by a lonely loser.

It's even worse than the dragon episode. Honestly these two seem to be the only genuinely bad episodes of the show.
Beth selfcest was fine with me honestly.

It wasn’t the worst in the context of entertainment . People are upset at how tasteless it is for Dan Harmon to weave his incest fetish into the storyline .
They’ve been making jokes about incest (and things probably even more tasteless than incest) since season 1. The show doesn’t exactly sell itself on being tasteful so I really don’t get why people are upset at this episode in particular.

@@Vgamer311it seems like because it’s just really really gross as a concept, people don’t like it, because outside of that it seems no different than any other episode, granted humor is subjective and not everyone would enjoy the episode, but I doubt it’s just the jokes not landing. I think people are just sensitive.
@@baitornot4697 but see, that’s sort of my point: they’ve been doing things equally if not more tasteless since day 1. Where was the outrage when it was revealed that their teacher has sexual dreams about his underage students, and dream summer tried to fuck real morty? Why weren’t this many people complaining about gross concepts when morty had his first (of 2) biological child? Why didn’t I hear a single person complain when they literally did a 2-in-1 9/11 and Pearl Harbor joke? It’s honestly just bizarre to me that so many people have such a huge nerve struck with some things but not others.

This episode was rough, but idk about it being the worst. The thanksgiving episode still exists and I really wasn’t a fan of the night-person episode.

I'm one of the people who actually really like this episode, ig i dont really think too hard about the actual premise and just laugh about the safest type of gross out humor, sex jokes. I totally understand why other people don't like it though
Yeah the main reasons why people hates the episode was because of the heavy focus on the incest topic and the tasteless comedy. I fully understand why people might like it, but it's just a mid episode. And the sexism subplot doesn't really work here at all. It could be a great idea for even the main plot but here it just feels like a throwaway gag.
I don't think this is the worst Rick and Morty episode: I mean: the worst part is the disgusting idea, but the episode itself works. I think the worst one is the episode of the Gotrons: I feel that like it was rushed and I could not enjoy it. Btw, I love the test theory and I honestly like when creators of shows and movies tries to go beyond pubblic's tastes if they do it well. Here they didn't even made it really bad.
@@nicolaridolfi6510 personally, I really think that the unity episode is the worst. It’s plot was just all over the place, like the gotron one. But at least the gotron episode had FLAVOR, whereas the unity ones subplot was just dumb.

I loved how everyone randomly trusted everything morty said, and I always enjoy an episode with the President
I think the writers were trying for character development with Rick trusting Morty. It's out of character for Rick to not at least check behind Morty's back but it gives Rick and excuse to backslide when trusting Morty on something that should've been a non-issue backfires.
The grossness of the episode didn't bother me. Rick and Morty is a crass show. The incest baby episode sucks because the plot is poorly written. It feels like a rush job slapped together with bits and pieces of ideas that that were picked up off the cutting room floor.
It's crazy how most of these show reviewer and updaters have the same accent tone and personality are they all related????

hey, i'm david james's alt account just to be clear. the channel isn't monetized and most of the shorts are copyright claimed (maybe not most but a large portion of them). a strike isn't really something i'm worried about, as again, the channel isn't monetized, but eventually i will private most of the shorts to be able to solve any issues that might pop up

I liked the dragon episode, it was a game of thrones parody.... the incest baby + sperm monsters is hands down the worst episode, I felt it while watching it the first time, nothing has even come close

i figured it was a test after I saw it was all shorts not uncommon, but usually the only "YTshorts channels" that get recommended to me are stuff I don't watch but is popular like minecrafter's like jelly bean, animal short videos, or gaming content......

One of the reasons Justin was angry with Dan is that Dan bring the writers of his old show called "community" for season 3, then in season 4 Justin stop going in the writers office and rarely go there.
