Already bought it, but still watching videos like this while I wait. Your video is one of the best I've seen on the topic so far! Great pacing, editing, footage, script, the whole thing.
As someone coming from Canon I'm just blown away by the very concept of a sub-$1000 body designed in a way that it feels like they were genuinely trying to make the best camera possible at the price point instead of just trying to upsell you to a $1300 body instead.
I agree, Fujifilm always offers a lot of performance in their "lite" versions of more expensive cameras.
Excellent coverage once again. I appreciate all of the hands-on experience details while showing the actual camera, back display, photos and videos (rather than just the face of the reviewer like so many others do). Thank you for taking the time to share this!
Thank you, I'm glad that it was useful to you!
A very useful review. Thank you
Man, I really like your reviews, please keep going
- detailed product view instead of annoying talking heads
- pleasant voice
- very good video edit
Thank you, I appreciate your feedback!
Very good contet! I like all your reviews. Very good tempo of a explanations and usefull info also. I just can't stand those reviewers (so called youtubers) who have over exposed hype, million words in a sentence which lasts 2 seconds. Keep your style and keep going! Always waiting for more from you!
Thank you, I appreciate your positive feedback!
Absolutely fantastic in-depth review, my friend! You've earned a new Subscriber :)

Good explanation thank you
Excellent review. Thank you!
Thank you!
good video, keep up the good work
This camera has pretty noticeable ISO stepping, like the X-T3. You can see it at 8:37, especially on the left.
I wish reviewers would mention this as it makes a fundamental difference to how usable video is.
Very nice video as usual. That gray accent color looks niceee. Fujifilm does seem to do a good job of compromises that make sense to hit a certain price point. I did like the X-T20 when I tried that out last year and this one looks like a serious update. It's too bad they don't thicken the grip more, which was my least liked thing on the X-T20.
Thank you, it is indeed wisely done. Grip would also make it bigger, but you will certainly be able to get some accessory to fix that.
Great video. It would be good to breakdown in detail what its missing comparing to the XT3 side by side.
Thank you, that is not possible at the moment, because X-T30 RAWs are not compatible with LR. There will be no difference though, it is the same sensor and processing.
Nice video, what minimum speed for the Sd card uhs1 please to record nitrate 200? :)
It works OK with UHS-I cards, I generally don't recommend cards slower than that anyway.
The EVF magnification is higher than my x-pro2’s, so for me this is an upgrade. I’ve been wanting a smaller camera with flippy screen for long time. This might be it.
Great review as always! Currently, I have a G85 and the autofocus (or lack of) has caused me to miss shots while recording video but I do love the IBIS. Do you think it's worth it to switch to the X-T30 from the G85 for reliable autofocus (even at the cost of IBIS)? Thanks!
Thank you, that is difficult to tell. Upgrading to G9 would probably be better in that case, you would get even better IBIS and very good video autofocus. Take a look at my long term review: bit.ly/G9-1year
Im thinking about getting the G9 and the Olympus 12-40 pro lens. Do you know if the autofocus is still good with this setup? I think I'll be fine with the ibis in the body and won't need dual i.s. 2. Thanks and keep up the great work!
It still works fine, but I would recommend getting Leica 12-60 instead for the G9.
thank you for doing review of this amazing XT30 😊
how about XT30's body material? Does it get magnesium alloy body as XT3 or just full of plastic?
You're welcome, no it is not magnesium frame, that would be to much to ask at that price.
thank you for your usual thoughtful and thorough vid. a question: i have read that there is not enough room to use the x-t30's headphone jack 2.5 -> 3.5 adapter AND the usb -> mic adaptor at the same time. (this way you can monitor the mic via the headphones ala the x-t3) the ports seem to be just too close together. could you please confirm or correct? thumbs up.
Thank you, I unfortunately don't have any 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter, so I am not able to test that.
Excellent video. I appreciate your straightforward approach. I'm considering the X-T30 for a professional hybrid workflow. The X-T3 is narrowly out of my budget if I were to get a kit lens, and this seems like a very capable compromise. I wouldn't consider the kit lens, but I'd like to migrate to the Fuji system. And that 18-55mm F2.8-4 lens looks quite good.
Thank you, it may still be OK for professional use, 18-55 is also very good lens.
Check out the video specs on Fuji's website (not a resale website) for the video record times. Just be sure you'll be happy with only 10min 4K recording or 15 min of FHD quality....
@@VllKlNG Yeah, I do admit it's not ideal. But for the application I'm looking to use it for, I don't need long record times.
Ok good stuff. I'd hate someone to find this out after purchase.😊
It is mentioned in the video.
Excellent review...
Thank you!
I use UHS2 cards in my XT20. I know it cant read them but for some reason I don't quite understand it does improve performance of the camera dramatically.
It speeds up buffere clearing which would be very useful in X-T30.
😦😧😟😢
Why did you abandon your signature intro???
No more "Hello my friends!?"
We're not your friends anymore???
I was kind of tired of it, I felt like it's time for a change, of course all of the viewers are still my friends :)

Haha. I actually missed that too.
Excellent review! between X-T30 and GX9, which one do you prefer for street and travel photography?
Thank you, that is difficult one, I will make a video about that.
@@TheHybridShooter Awesome, I would like to know this also!
It would be nice if you could compare it with Pana Gx9 for real-life usage.

Yes, I intend to do that.

Great detaled review :), but on thing you didnt mention and that is can you use touchscreen in menues?
Thank you, no, you unfortunately can't use the touch screen in main menu.
@@TheHybridShooter Thank you, for response :D

is the top and bottom metal or plastic?
Great review as usual! Will we see the comparison between this and a6400? Thanks!
Thank you! Probably not, I unfortunately don't have A6400, sorry about that.
@@TheHybridShooter ah okayy then no worry! But may i ask your opinion about these two? I'm using a6000 but planning to upgrade soon. Many thanks
Both are very good cameras, Fuji has a bit better sensor, but Sony will probably have better autofocus. It is really difficult to decide between those two, it also depends on the lens selection.
@@TheHybridShooter thankyou for your insight and info! Definitely will try them first. Keep inspiring :) cheers
@@andreslinn69 You're welcome, thank you for watching!
Please make a review on Fuji 18-55 f/2.8-4 kit lens and compare it with 16-55 f/2.8 lens FOR VIDEO. Is the professional lens worth it for video? Thanks.
Unfortunately, I don't have 16-55 at my disposal at the moment, so I am not able to do that.
Can you help to compare XT30 with GX9 in terms of IQ and usability for travel.. Thank you..
Yes, I will probably do that.
Can't wait for Xt30 vs a6400. Can you use the microphone port at the same time as USB charging? The ports look very close together.
Mario Djameh i Will Be Happy to havé an answer too to this question ;)
Does it keep filming if I want to recordo video for like 1 hour? Or it stops to avoide warm?
There is a limit, as explained in video.
I´d like to see a review of some Panasonic "Power Zoom" (Vario G X) lenses on the G9. I'm surprised there is only a few lenses with that feature and nobody test it.
Those are very old and not very good lenses in terms of the optics, not worth using with the new sensors, so that is probably why.
Great review as always. If asked to choose between XT 30 and Sony a6400 which one would you pick?
Thank you, both have different strengths, so that depends on your preferences, I will try to make a video about that.
know what lenses you want and see what each brand offers
@@TheHybridShooter with xt3 please🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great Review!. I am still not sure if I should go with the xt30 18-55 + an additional lens 35mm for example (ore just one great lens) Or the Xt3 +18-55 - I will be using it with the Mavic mini drone and GoPro hero 7 black. Mainly for travel + Street photography & video . I am not that expert when it comes video making but want to start working on creating travel videos and instagram videos. which one would you recommend. is the only 30fps in video and not weather sealed really a down side? (Also less manual buttons (iso/shutter) compared to Xt3. Thanks
I would go with X-T3 and one lens.
@@TheHybridShooter Thank You!
Good review..
Thank you!
I’m guessing you’re from Bratislava area? I recognized some of the pictures. Good video by the way.
Thank you, yes, I am from Bratislava.
Intéressant
So adding a grip with a centered tripod mount addresses the biggest shortcomings of this camera. I'm very intrigued and I will probably get one when its price settles even lower.
I don't mind that so much, it is justified by the size or this camera, but I am sure that there will be some accessory to fix that.
Could you please guide me the Time-lapse settings. I'm new to this field. Just now bought XT30.
Unfortunately I have never used it, and I don't have Fuji camera at the moment, so I can't help you with that.
Great video! A lot of people are saying to avoid grading F-Log with 8-bit files. Do you know why that is? Do the 200 megabits help at all with grading?
Thank you, as I have said in the video, Log requires a lot of color information from the files, and in certain situations 8-bit might not be sufficient for that.
@@TheHybridShooter Thank you for your response. Does shooting at 200 megabits help alleviate the lack of information given by 8-bit?
It helps, but 10-bit would help more.

I will have to implement more fancy transitions :D
@@TheHybridShooter Haha it looks like you are starting to appreciate my British humour ;)
this would be my first camera... i have never used a DSLR but i am familiar with raw editing photoshop and photography as well. initially i was up for xt100, shall i buy xt30? or xt100? or maybe something else?
It is indeed a very good choice for the first cameras. X-T30 would be the best option out of those.
Great as always, but I miss Hello my friends!
Thank you, I was a bit tired of Hello my friends, I might bring it back in the future.
@@TheHybridShooter Ah, I see. In any case, I look forward to your reviews, they are some of the best out there.
Great video. Thanks.
I am getting my first camera mostly for the stills. Confused between X-t30 and 80D. The only thing which is stopping me to get X-t30 is 80d looks more robust. Please guide.
X-T30 is much better camera.
@@TheHybridShooter Ok. lense should I go 18-55 f2.8 kit lens or 18-135 kit lens?
Depends on your preferences.
Can you bypass the limit recording using a external monitor?
yes
On the part at 3:11... are you sure the two lenses you were using have the same light transmission? edit: also, you can use the front and rear dials to scroll through the menus very quickly. It's much faster than the joystick or using directional buttons!
I and many other reviewers were testing it using different Fuji lenses and cameras with the same result.
Funny that you did not mention the lack of IBIS as a drawback. Panasonic has this feature for ages. I know that Fuji has lenses with stabilisation, but the results will not be so fluent as I get with my GX85. Ik like the X-T30 a lot, but this issue holds me back to buy this camera. If you would compare the GX85 with the X-T30, what camera would you prefer and why. Or maybe in other words, would you upgrade to the X-T30 if you were in my shoes? Video making is my priority and have Panasonic lenses and no Fuji lenses.
As always you presented a very good review. Thanks.
I own g85 and Fuji x system . Fuji’s colours are so seductive but sometimes they are shaky and blurry. Ibis is great if you are on the move not willing to Cary tripods gimbal etc
IBIS is a great feature of course, I consider the lack of IBIS to be a disadvantage of the X-T3 but in the X-T30 it is justified by the intended use, size and price. I will make a comparison of the X-T30 and GX9 which should answer your questions, but for video I would recommend Sony A6500, A6400 or Panasonic G9, instead of those two.
@@TheHybridShooter Thanks for your response.

Hi, is it possible now to open the raw files in most softwares?
yes
Hi, I’m looking for a mirrorless camera for travel, general photography and to take photos of my dog. I don’t have the time to sit and edit photos for hours. Am I expected to edit most photos with this camera?! If I’m paying over $1k for a camera I better learn to use it properly and hope that the camera takes pretty good photos without any further editing! Is this camera a good candidate for what I’m looking? Thanks!
Yes, Fuji has very good quality out of camera, and some interesting film simulations, so it is suitable for that.
What... no "Hello, My Friends!" (good vid though!)
Thank you, I felt like it was a time for a change.
@@TheHybridShooter My kids have heard that opening phrase enough that it's now a family catch-phrase in our household. They're going to be heartbroken 😂😂 😂😂

Hi ! Thank you for This video :) between fuji xt30 and canon eos M50 🙁which one do you prefer for CZcams videos and travel photography?? Help me 😄 😇
You're welcome, I definitely prefer X-T30 over M50 by a huge margin.
Ooh yeah Thank you👍👍 already in my opinion xt30 more handsome , but i was confused because xt30 screen doesn't turn full , And Maybe xt30 is more difficult to use :)
@@drbetulklc2232 X-T30 is actually easier to use because it has much better physical controls and the UI is not bad either. If you need front facing screen though, X-T30 doesn't have that.
Great Video! Is the xt30 still good in 2021?
It is, but X-E4 and X-S10 are better.
@@TheHybridShooter thanks for your response! If the xt30 can be gotten used for $ 850 (w 18-55) where's xs10 (16-80) will be $ 1600.
I was thinking to get the xt30 and then get 70-300 but a little hesitant how the small body will handle a big lens.
@@TheHybridShooter Apart from better AF, better burst capabilities, more film sims and IBIS for the X-S10, is there any other improvement?
Hi, would love to see a comparison between G9 or perhaps GX9 & XT-30. My interest is from a travel point of view, particularly interested in how the various lens affect the size of the package. I’ll assume the XT-30 has the better image quality but with lenses it may not be such a straight forward decision. Thanks for your efforts on the channel, I appreciate your hard work. ....

Nice one bro
Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I see from comments that you don't have a6400 but from features mostly and similarities with a6500 - would you prefer xt30 or a6400 for your use? Xt30 record limit is very odd. Also for sony - sigma 1.4 lenses are great and cost effective. I don't know if I will use xt30 with external monitor recording, so without that it is 8 bit same as Sony. What would your opinion be of this comparison without having tested a6400? Fuji lens selection vs sigma.
That is very difficult to tell, you can't really go wrong with either. For stills I would probably go with X-T30, but for hybrid use it might be A6400 because of the Sigma E-mount lenses and still a bit better AF.
@@TheHybridShooter but x-t30 have higher bitrate, right ?
Yes, it does, but Sony has more advanced picture profiles, so both shoot very good 4K.
So interesting, because Sigma seems to be sharper I’ll be happy if you could compare same video from a6500 and xt30 with a cinematic lut applied in post. Could help to have an idea of the final result between both camera thanks :)
I really need your review on the new Sony a6400. Should I expect in the near future? Thank you!
There is a high demand for that, so I will try do that.
The Hybrid Shooter please compare image quality with sigma lens and applying a Lut on both camera in post :)
Hello will anyone know here of external monitors for the xt30 that will enable me to record to 10bit 4k? any help appreciated. Thanks guys and gals!
Atomos Ninja V is the best one for that.
@@TheHybridShooter Thank you!
Should I get x-t30 or a6500 for photo + video ?they're the same price
Both are very good cameras, so it depends on your preferences.
What do you think about comparison Fuji XT-30 vs. Sony Alpha 6400 - where do you think are the Pros & Cons of both cameras - and which would you prefer...why? Thanks PS: I think the greatest advatage would be the new (eye) autofokus in combination with Real-Time-Tracking using AF-C permanently making sharp photos very easy- or I`m wrong?
It it isn't, it is marked as "moisture resistant", but there are no gaskets or weather sealing.
I haven't tested A6400, so I don't know about the new AF features, but it is similar to A6500, although X-T3 has better sensor and lens selection, but no IBIS.
Except for the lack of 10 bit internal and H.265 this might be the best bang for buck in this price range. And even these two weaknesses can be easily overlooked..
I agree, but I wouldn't consider that a weakness in this category, that would be way too much to ask.
@@TheHybridShooter Do you have a recommendation for someone who is about to buy an analog SLR for the first time? Looking for something that has auto exposure but I'm quite confused right now as to what I should get..
@@AnindyaMitraDigitalStoryteller I have never shot with analog so I unfortunately can't help you with that.
As long as you don't use a tripod, it looks like a good camera. I think that this is a travel stills camera first and foremost. I recommended an XT20 to a friend and he likes it. However he claims that there is a delay between pressing the shutter button and the camera actually firing. Did you have similar issues with the new camera? Secondly, I it is my personal opinion that the pricing at over $800 put this camera within reach of a Canon RP or even a discounted XT3, which is a far better camera per your own reviews. Excellent short review. Thanks again and I look forward to some comparison reviews against the A6400 and whatever Panasonic camera you choose. Regards,
Thank you, I haven't noticed any delay with X-T30. Personally I see no reason to buy the RP, there are much better options out there, including the X-T30. XT3 is not discontinued, it is relatively new camera, just higher in the lineup. I will try to compare the X-T30 to something.
I dont notice a delay on my xt20. I've used the xt2, g85, g7, all pretty much the same.
The touch area focus has a huge delay, so no joystick sucks at times. Its still useable for family and vacation, but I wouldn't for pro street photography
Wich is best?
80D or X-T30???
X-T30.
The lack of IBIS is a big problem for video? Please test the stabilization of that kit lens in a future video.
Most of the samples in the video are handheld, OIS in 18-55 is pretty good, but something like Panasonic Dual IS 2 is still much more effective.
This is the camera I want, this is the camera I need : /
You enjoy shooting in the rain though. You have no weather sealing and at least on my lumix g7 the touchscreen is absolutely useless in the rain. Not an issue for me with the d pad, but this camera relies on touch gestures which don't work in rain. Just a thought
@@ScrattleGG well not always in the rain : ) there's alot of dry spells in between and the rainy season only comes in the summer =p
Which is a better camera for stills? X-T2 or X-T30
X-T30 has better sensor, X-T3 has better handling.
Hows the compatibilty of Xt30 with canon lense, can we use canon lense using adaptor
I don't know, I have never tried that.
@@TheHybridShooter thanks for ur reply
I got a lumix g7 and this looked promising for an upgrade but I just cannot justify it. I know it's not weather sealed but I'd still use it a big in some drissle. Touch is absolutely useless in any kind of rain. Relying on touch gestures... no thank you. Even while working it'll get annoying after a while.
Guess I'm upgrading to the g85 instead. Far cheaper lenses too.
35mm F2 is only $100 if you buy together with this camera in US.
Fujifilm has the better lenses though. you pay for what you get
I would not call that AF tracking example very smooth. It had a very obvious pause before acquiring focus, both with the background and foreground examples.
That was close to far distance test, it is still pre-production unit, it seems to be better on X-T3, so I will test that with final unit.
You did a good job of selling me Luminar.
Me too I bought Luminar 3 and I like it a lot.

I mean, when you reaches the 10 minutes, how long it takes to start recording again?
You can start recording another clip immediately.

Just to my perfect understanding: after 10 minutes the camera stops recording and you can start another clip immediately OR the camera continues recording and only "close the video file" ?
@@jvbarison The first option, it stops recording and you have to press the shutter button again.

Bratislava.
@@TheHybridShooter I have visited Austria Last year, it was looking similar to me that's why I asked :-)
Went to the Fujifilm store with cash to buy the Fujifilm xt30 but returned without it
Why?
1) The electronic viewfinder is BAD...blurry and grainy.
2) There is lot of lag if you move the camera viewing through the EVF
3) Its too small for even medium sized ladies hands
4) You are bound to click on the buttons on the back accidentally.
5) The diopter correction dial is too small to use
6) It was a total disappointment for me
I checked Sony A6400 and it was leaps and bound ahead of Fujifilm XT30, it will certainly be a better buy!
Valid points, but it mostly has to with size and the X-T30 is made to be as portable as possible, which introduces some compromises. Larger camera will probably be more suitable for you.
This is about 60% of the price of X-T3. Definitely an intriguing offer.

Maybe I will bring it back after some time.
LMFAO. It is a Pro Camera. If you shoot Studio only there's no difference in performance vs XT3
What if you don't shoot in studio...
Hello! I couldn't help but notice a comment about same ISO lower exposure, unfortunately ISO isn't really exposure in digital photography the same way ISO was in film photography, the main reason why the pictures on the XT30 are dimmer is because it has a lower pixel pitch (smaller pixels) than the A7 III, it's not fujifilm's fault or anything, it's just physics unfortunately x.x
I hope I didn't misunderstand what you said, but I felt like this had to be said just to be sure. I apologise. I love your work and your videos a lot.
Thank you, but this has nothing to do with pixels size. ISO should actually compensate for that. You should get the same exposure with the same settings regardless on whether you shoot with compact 1" camera or medium format.
i dont get the point of getting to such a small body size where handling is poor, batteries are too small to have a good capacity, 4k video overheat because heatsink is undersized, and the mic cannot be plugged at the same time as a headphone on usbc because the connectors are too close.looking at ooverall size, lens are big anyway (anymore pancake these days ??) so what is the point of shaving of these extra mm ? makes no sense today that we have our smartphones as a compact first solution with acceptable photo quality.
If you can't appreciate the size / performance ratio, then it just isn't for you. It is great for travelling, discreet street photography and so on... Of course, there are much smaller X-mount lenses. X-T30 output is worlds ahead of any smartphone, so that is not very relevant comparison and I don't consider smartphone image quality acceptable for most of my publishing needs.
@@TheHybridShooter i was not questionning the existence of mirroless interchangeable lens. i was just saying that they need to diifetentiate
as much as possible from smartphone by having characteristics that smartphones dont have and that are not compatible with extreme compactness such as big sensor with stabilisation big battery big heatsink for high framerate high resolution video etc...
@@amanieux I don't think that is a problem at all, X-T30 capabilities are "on another planet" in comparison with any smartphone, especially if you add a quality lens.
I'm gonna bring this camera with me to the city every day since it will fit in my pocket (lens in my jacket pocket). I couldn't even think of doing that with my Nikon D3. I would have all the controls/features I need to shoot how I want. Cellphones can't do that very well at all.
