Nice one! I'm currently beginning the process of bringing one of these MY2000 25hp 2-strokes back to life after sitting in a shed for the best part of 20yrs with about 15 hours on it from new (don't think it even had its first service before being laid up). Carb rebuild, water pump, gear oil etc all on the list to be done however one of the first things I'll be doing is to run the compression test to see if I have a decent powerhead to work with. Thanks for your video!

I can’t give you a accurate answer on that as I have only had one that was a 2000 model I can tell you the body changed slightly but looks like parts like coils and power packs are the same not sure under the flywheel as I haven’t had to do that on a Mercury yet

I have the same motor but with electric start. I can start the engine. But the engine bogs out and stalls after I press the accelerator. Any tips , ideas what the issue might be ?

I would check fuel lines and oil return lines for cracks or air leaks and rebuild fuel pump and rebuild the carburetor if you haven’t.

i changed my fuel line going from the gas tank to the engine and it fixed the problem. mine was doing the same thing. it was the check valve in the primer bulb.
