Absolutely love my new 25. Pushes a 16ft v-hull 28 mph with an 11p prop, feels like it could handle a 12p and its barely broken in. With two guys it still hits 25mph. Its very light for power trim/e-start, zero vibration, no torque steer effortless steering.
Hmmm the bigger cubic 526cc that’s a lot heavier level pegged it.. Not bad for the older version. I think tiller options & manual tilt easier here. Otherwise your ok with your earlier bigger cube motor. Comes down to price..
Why does americans buy these 25hp that are actually tuned down from 30hp? And then compares them to 2 cylinder 20hp outboards.. In europe everyone buys the 30hp version.
Ikr,,, i dislike how heavy these 25hp 4 strokes are,,,, im almost pulling the trigger on a Yamaha 25 cause it weighs 126lbs? Apparently,,, my 1996 mercury 25hp is sucha gas guzzler, but i like the lightweight of it.
@@tieoneon1614 ya the new tiller handle from mercury is pretty sweet. Wish they had a heated grip with the smaller models. Tohatsu handles are not bad still but still crazy that any tiller handle costs more than a steering wheel and fwd controls.
@Jonny Martin Yes it is. Not sure where the dealer got his information from. I subsequently purchased one. If it had been a pure Mercury product I would not have done it. I also have the vessel view mobile which I will try next time. Extremely happy with it.
@@jeffalden6769 mercury owns tohatsu. Hmm not true. Tohatsu is very much independent made motors for mercury Nissan Evinrude just like Yamaha did for mercury for few years.

Great review. Looking at one now.
I was a sceptic against 4 strokes loving my two stroke. Just purchased a new Merc 4 stroke with I did it earlier.
Tohatsu outboards
Which cost more sometimes
I am curious if you could swap the new tiller to the older style motor?

Hi this manual version how easy is it to pull start, compared to a 25 2 stroke Johnson?
and the ratchet tilt compared to tilting a Johson?
Gear ratio is better on the new engine. They probly found some more torque on it. Just like they did on the 20hp when they redesigned it in 2018.
Insane 63kg for a 25hp !! just too heavy for a portable outboard, I run a 2022 Suzuki 20hp at 47kg once tuned it pulls 25hp at the prop ;-)

Hello. Tell me, what is the name of this updated engine model?
I'm interested in the full name, Mercury F25.....????
So the only difference I can see really is a better tiller…and only a slight weight advantage
That transom common over on yall side of the world?
new is faster out of the hole due to less weight.
Buy the tohatsu 5 year warranty vs 3 for the merc. Same motor.
with a shitty tiller handle. I love the new Merc, the extra $ was well worth the ergos and all controls on it.

Per litre milage
This new motor is not a Tohatsu!
Yes it is. Same as Tohatsu MFS25D.

@davidlove7825 I have Vessel View on mine and I love it!
Compression ratio
the fore stroke has so much better fuel economy there is no reason to entertain the two stroke.
Meanwhile my tohatsu weighs 51 kg
Same motor.
Mercury owns that company

meanwhile my 2001 25hp 2 stoke weighs nothing lol
