Not a chance. Stay away from that underperforming junk. Get a Uniden R3 and up, if you want the best bang for your buck. Valentine is still in business only because of their fan girls.
@@ar_2015 Righto. In the big wide world that's pretty harsh bud. Ironically to your comment I currently run an R3 as a daily having previously spent $4K+ on a full Stinger rig. Valentine is not junk, sure it's capabilities are debateable given real world location but I would put up a thousand dollar wager with you that in a real world bogey scenario a V1G2 will outperform my R3 across the board. Don't get me wrong here dude, the R3 (even the previous gen) is by FAR the best bang for the buck RD hands down! I live in Australia, yes that same speed Nazi communist hellhole that gifted the world with the Stalcar/Spectre sh!t. Where I live in Crocodile Dundee land all RD's are banned to the point of getting busted is a $6,000 fine and potentially JAILTIME. So while I agree the R3 (and most Uniden stuff) is a great bang for buck I will defend Valentine for simply giving a fuk.

I updated the detector a few days ago and the V1 companion app also had an update as well and I must say the performance is outstanding ! The V1 is completely silent unless a real threat is detected while paired with the v1 companion app. In addition yesterday on my way into work there was a cop around a bend in road not visible that was marked by Waze shooting laser at approaching vehicles and my V1 Gen 2 picked up the signal immediately even being out of line sight, meaning I received the laser warning before the cop could even see me or target my vehicle, which is absolutely awesome ! Love the V1 Gen2
Well I went 100 miles today with some in town driving and freeway. Huge difference in not detecting crash avoidance systems. That was really nice. It also transitions so much better when you approach and pass a signal. The arrows were dead on today. I kept it in Little "L" today and was very impressed and paired with JBV1 it did a great job of sorting real signals and door opening systems now and even CX5s.
Mazdas period, along with Genesis and a few other vehicles. I purchased a CX5 over a year ago and it drove my Gen1 crazy from inside the vehicle. I upgraded to the Gen2 about six months ago. What a difference, quiet as a church mouse.

I'm in the process of deciding if I need a new RD. Looking at the V1G2, been running a Escort Redline (segmented) since 2010. It has been a very good detector.
Would love to see you do a shootout of retro RDs verses the latest high end manufactures.
Would really like the Red Barn bet it would give some pretty interesting info.

Think you should try behind a bridge, around a corner k band as that is a very common encounter and the radar aims in a different direction than the road. Have target vehicle approach the bridge to check alert distances. Real world test.
Great update Vortex. Wish they go ahead add update it match escort Redline 360 C bells and whistles.
It was a very noticeable change with my V1 on the same exact drive on US-30. The previous update was a disappointment, but this one took care of the KA band concert, and worked well with JBV1 app.

Zero plans for now, sorry. Lots of other people can do a similar test and I’ve got a ton on my plate at the moment. When we get to summertime and the weather stops being so rainy all the time, I’ll do more long range tests.

I did the September update and since then I’m receiving a lot of laser falses as well as Ka falses. I don’t know what’s setting it off. As anyone knows when that thing screams laser you’re braking. It’s mounted close to my mirror at the top of windshield in a ‘23 Chrysler 300C.
Any idea when Escort plans to do a MKII Redline 360/C? Was going to get one for Christmas, but it’s kinda long in the tooth and don’t want a chirpy Uniden.
I don’t find I need a unit that is more sensitive than the one I currently have now for a couple of years.
The Vortex unit is the very best unit I’ve EVER HAD … and I have had many radar units over the years!
The one and only weakness that I have found with the vortex unit is IT IS HARD TO SEE IN THE DAYTIME … not quite bright enough!
Hmmmm…….I see my arrows quite well on my V1G2 even with the sunroof open on a sunny day.

Unfortunately Escort SmartCords do cause issues with the V1 and are not recommended.

If I may ask, would you please let us know if the KA sensitivity varies between the A, L and small L settings after this update.
It never has since the V1 was introduced. That's for K only.
I guess I should update my old Gen1... I REALLY dislike the design of the Gen2. It just looks and feels super cheap compared to the original. And I really prefer the volume knob.

Well it cant be any worse than the update back in Oct 22? which made both my Gen2's into a walmart detector. Both of my Gen2's have been hot garbage ever since, noisey, false alarms every 10 seconds when prev no issues. I sent both of them back asking they restore the orig firmware and they refused.
Have not been impressed at all, and even less with the customer service.

Their firmware updates are one direction only. There is no rollback option (unless they have changed this)
I will not buy another V1 ever again due to their customer service, I still have my V1G1 since 2006 (yes with a few firmware updates) I'd rather buy a less capable radar then buy another V1

you are exactly the person this update is for, it allows you to roll back the KA version of the firmware to before that oct 22 update.
@@adambomb13with 18 years of service, still getting updates and performing very well it seems like you’ve more than gotten you’re moneys worth out of it. Those all seem like reasons to me to 100% buy another. Whatever customer service issues you’ve had seems like the product more than made up for it and it doesn’t owe you anything at this point.
@@seashackf1 Kinda true, the firmware upgrades included shipping the unit back in and basically gets replaced, When I talked to customer service she was extremely rude and didnt care of my opinion and I even told her that her service stunk and she just hung up. So no Im not willing to support a company that has that type of customer service (Im not the only one). I understand your point of view but agree to disagree :)

Hi Vortex. I'm from russian rd-forum, come visit us, we have some videos with new update and our radars.
The reason I flat out refuse to buy a V1 is that they have this "holier than thou" philosophy that they are the end all be all of radar detector tech. It took the better part of 20 years to update the OG V1 and while every other manufacture on the planet has incorporated GPS/auto lockouts, they won't...because "it's wrong".
My old V1 lasted 15 years, my new one will do another 15+. GPS tech will change, Uniden displays burn in, more crammed chips always equals faster failures. You cannot easily beat V1 performance and support.

@@p.doetsch6209 I’ve run a radar detector in one form or another for 20 years. I’ve had a V1 (when they first came out), Beltronics, Escort, and Uniden. The Uniden R7 with third party 1.50 FW is the most comprehensive all around combo there is.
