      It’s a surprise to me that the rabbits would do that. Seems like something deer do (no deer round here though). Never mind , at least we saved two of them and I’ll look out for bargain replacements at some point. Have a great weekend Nick.😊

    Absolute brilliant idea, our ground where we planted all those ghords last year wasnt well prepped or even looked after to be fair and look how many we got.
    Iv also found (touch wood) last year they didnt get touched by rabbits.
    I have meshd mine off this year because i really want the crops but eventually that will come off. Also i planted some without mesh and theyv not been touched so thays a good sign.
    Plants look healthy enough so im confident for you. 😊

      So far the rabbits haven’t been interested in them , so far so good. The blighters are only interested in nibbling all my French beans. I thought our plot was rabbit proofed but caught one red handed hopping around inside the plot. Had to do some major reinforcement with wire in the noonday sun yesterday 😩🌞🥵

    Hello Fiona that's a treak round to your secret garden then getting them over , but I think you going be surprised with the results as you given good mulch and they going to appreciate that.

    The secret garden is coming on nicely. Shame about the rabbits getting at the fruit trees. Rabbits are one pest we don't have at the allotment so far. One squash of each plant would be a good harvest. Are they winter ones so that they keep all winter. We still have a couple of squashes in the summerhouse that have survived all winter and still look okay to use. The nettles on the walk to the secret garden look a bit deadly.

    • @fionagrows1848
      @fionagrows1848  Před rokem

      All the squash are winter squash so I’m hoping for a good haul to see us through the winter. That’s pretty amazing that you still have squash from last year. I couldn’t get mine to last much past February. We’ve rabbit proofed the allotment so they can’t get in, but either we’ve done a bad job of it or we’ve trapped one on the inside.😩. I spotted it hopping around over the beds this morning!

  • @StellasVegetablegardens

    I think that, because that is Virgin sale, you will get a great harvest from that. I look forward to seeing that

    Ok Fiona I have to ask why don’t you put a gate in by the shed 😂. You had me in stitches doing the up down pass 👍. We have the same issue with rabbits and deer eating the bottoms of our trees so I had to move a few into my fenced area 🤦🏼‍♀️. Will they not eat the squash too? Hopefully you have some fantastic squash harvests. Have a great week, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦

    • @fionagrows1848

      It would be great to have a gate wouldn’t it! We’ve thought about it but the allotments and the fencing belong to the council so I’m sure they would not be happy if they ever discovered we had cut a hole in their fence😂. So far so good with the squash…..the rabbits don’t seem interested. They’re too busy finding ways into my allotment to eat my French beans 😡. Happy gardening!

    Actually the soil looks much better than what we have here. We have pure sand. That soil looks black and I'm sure with the chicken manure and the woodchips the squash will grow if the rabbits 🐰 don't eat it 🤔 There is so much growing there now compared to winter when they destroyed your fruit trees.

    • @fionagrows1848
      @fionagrows1848  Před rokem

      The soil is ok really, just a lot of weed competition. I think squash are heavy feeders so we’ll have to see how they do. So far so good the rabbits haven’t been interested but I have seen one in my allotment and he’s been eating my French beans!😡. Happy gardening!😊
