Hi Fiona I was worried watching with the axe 😮😮, Kenny said it accident waiting to happen glad he took over, Oh my that's lot courgettes but I'm sure your find a use for them all. We have lady Carol she has a 1/4 plot and she said she threw rule book on planting out window when took that plot on She mixes and plants to close but still gets some fabulous harvest.
I have not even sown mine yet. I have to do that today. I've planted some tomatoes out already relying on the weather report 🤔 If you harvest too many courgettes they store very well. I still have some sitting in our kitchen. Have a nice weekend 🌞🏖🌝

It’s always worth a try , this year with shortages in the shops I’ve definitely grown more, masses of tomato plants , I’ve given a few to friends and neighbours. I’ve got my courgettes in large tubs in front of my greenhouse where it’s sunny and protected and so far they’re doing well so fingers crossed yours will too. I used to keep chickens and often hatched out chicks it was lovely, only thing is it’s often fifty percent hens and cockerels, don’t know why that happens but it does, always found homes for my unwanted cockerels though so not a problem, I couldn’t have killed them. It sounds like you’re well sorted. I’m just busy texting a few friends this morning to see if they want tomatoes and squash plants. Even if I get all my buckets and pots into action I’ve still got far too many. It’s the cost of buying more compost that puts me off …..we’re going to try and mix some ourselves…..the chickens are good for more than just eggs, I think I arguably value them for the manure/compost they provide!

We always have too many courgettes but I never learn to cut back just can't resist the temptation to sow too many seeds and then well they have to be grown on. Yours look to be very good plants so hopefully, they will be okay planted out. Our beetroot is like yours, it doesn't want to grow and ours is still in the greenhouse. I think you did all the hard work at splitting that log.
It’s ok to sow too many as long as you can be ruthless with the excess plants you end up with. Unfortunately I’m not at all ruthless and end up planting in buckets and squashing things together because I can’t bear to toss the spares! You’re right about that log by the way….it’s the same every time I loosen off the lid of a jar before Kenny has to open it!😉

Happy Mother’s Day Ali. (We do Mother’s Day in march in the uk) . Lots of people seem to be having germination issues this year….my beans are a bit hit and miss. 34 is way too hot for me! How hot do you get in the summer if it’s that hot already? We all like to complain about the weather here but the truth is I like the climate…..nothing too extreme. 😊
Iv been making a tray bake as a side with or dinner courgette red onion peppers and cherry tomatoes in a garlic olive oil roasted. We didnt do marrow this year but literally just bought a courgette plant today 😂 i think i have planted my patty pans out too soon they were looking a little sorrt for themselves today ... hopfully they bounce back.
I love a tray of roast veg too. I did patty pans last year and they were very slow. They stayed small plants which were good for pushing in wherever I had a gap (they didn’t get massive and trail all over like courgettes) . They didn’t produce anything at all until the very end of the summer, maybe august, well after the courgettes. So I’m sure yours will come good eventually.😊
Thank you Brenda. I’m pleased with the soil this year. I just keep top dressing with compost and after 5 years the soil is really starting to look good.😊
Hi Fiona i put runner bean out because there get to big and tall i only grow frome seed two week ago cold here too❤ than i put another set of seed today hopd it not grow tall😂 your courgette look good there will be ok. On the ground 🥰 and your onions look nice than my ❤ lovey sunshine
My runner beans are slow to grow and not germinating that well either. You must have a good batch of seeds……I’m wondering if mine are a bit old. The sun has disappeared again (I think we got 2 days of it😩) and back to cold and grey weather. Thanks for watching!😊
Oh blimey! That’s an even worse nightmare than having too many. I wish you were closer and I could off load some …..but there’s still plenty of time for your newly sowed ones to work just fine. My garlic is definitely germador by the way.
