  • It's time for the garlic to come out and I have mixed success. I'm starting to get small harvests now of a variety of crops . The melons go in the ground with some trepidation. Pottinig on the asturian tree cabbage and a wild hen !

Thanks Bill and Val. I’ve just popped another melon in a trough in a good sunny spot and I’m hoping it will climb up the fence. Something has been nibbling one of the melons I put in the ground though…..feeling very insecure about them!😂

Lovely summer sunshine in the South East too.. Hot hot hot, Your ground up in your allotment looks drier than mine, all looking very good in your allotment at the moment. Take Care 👍

We’ve had a load of rain since that was filmed so the ground is nice and damp and everything has grown loads…..what a relief to get rain! We’re in for a very hot weekend (I’m dreading it! I prefer cool and cloud 😂).

I always say any edible harvest is a good harvest because we’ve grown it ourselves. I’m growing a minuscule melon 😂😂 no that’s not it’s name that’s the plant size. It’s all looking fantastic Fiona I hope you do get a bit of rain (not too much). Have a super week happy gardening, a
    I 🌦️🇨🇦

😂Maybe you’ve hit on a fantastic new melon variety…bite sized Miniscule melons! You could market them for children’s lunch box snacks!
We did get rain, loads of it which was such a relief!

Hi Fiona, your garlic turned out much like ours. Might see if I can find a different variety to replace Germidour for next year. Still hot here (Sunday) but looks much cooler for next week. We still need some more rain. Nice little harvest of rhubarb ours has succumbed to the dry conditions. The broad beans look nice. I'd like to grow broad beans and peas that I can pick standing up rather than bending down. Good luck with tiny melon plants.

I’m sitting here waiting for the promised thunderstorm to roll in. It’s looking promising 🤞. A lot of people seem to be disappointed with the germidor this year. I’ve probably got enough to last me the year all told , so it’s not too much of a problem. Gardening without bending over might be a tall order Martyn!😂

I know what you mean , almost the end of June and still sowing and planting and harvesting , still what else would we gardeners do without the garden. I don’t think Susan likes being cuddled😂

Sometimes it feels like a lot of hard work but I suppose we wouldn’t do it if we didn’t love it 😊. Happy gardening Lynda.

Great garlic harvest, beetroot looks amazing too.
We had to bale the allotment today!! I didn't know we had a wasp nest on the shed and I put the strawberry cage near it and disturbed it. Luckily I got the dogs away without being stung.
Iv never been successful with melons so interested how you do 😊 susan is a diva 😂😂

It must be the time of year for wasps nests. My son is a climber and was out in Northumberland climbing on some cragg and he almost put his hand in one! They’re rotters! Not feeling too confident about the melons really. Seems a bit exotic for this neck of the woods 😂…..I feel like we’re more of a cabbage and potatoes kind of place! Still…I live in hope I’ll be eating melon in a couple of months 🍉

@fionagrows1848 iv tried and tried and for all the plant grows it just didn't seem long enough summer to get a big enough fruit. Iv got cucamelons growing again but my tomatoes are literally taking over 🙃 so not sure if we will get many.
Awh it was awful I was scared for the dogs 🐕 didn't want them stung to bits so just left 😕 I'm sure Carl will have a plan to evict them 😂😂
