Ilia Topuria is the Georgian and Spanish UFC Fighter Who Became UFC Featherweight Champion by knocking out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298. Ilia Topuria, nicknamed “El Matador,” is primed to become one of the biggest stars in UFC history, skin to Conor McGregor and Israel Adesanya. Topuria’s exciting fighting style and mixed martial arts career began in 2015 and over the next 8 MMA fights, he gathered 7 submissions and 1 knockout in professional MMA before earning his UFC debut in 2020. At UFC Fight Night: Moraes vs Sandhagen, Ilia Topuria defeated Youssef Zalal via unanimous decision. 2 months later, Ilia Topuria defeated Damon Jackson via knockout. In the performance that put Ilia Topuria on UFC fans’ radar, Topuria knocked out Ryan Hall at UFC 264. The following year, Ilia Topuria had a rocky start to his bout against Jai Herbert before knocking out Jai Herbert in round 2. In perhaps, Ilia Topuria’s 2 most impressive performances before his title shot, Topuria submitted Bryce Mitchell at UFC 282 and then absolutely dominated Josh Emmett to earn a unanimous decision and a UFC featherweight title shot against Alexander Volkanovski. As we all know, Topuria knocked out Volkanovski to begin his title reign. This is the Ilia Topuria Documentary.

I am not taking anything away from the quality of your channel.
However the pricing is unrealistic.
All channel memberships are not just yours. I'd like to support all my favourite creators but there's just too many to prioritise. There are many equally great quality channels on CZcams that do not "Pay Wall" their content, they create more for the Art rather than the lifestyle, and that's the issue, and that's why I've unsubscribed.
Good luck with your channel all the same. 👍🏻
Man after topuria knock out volk I was thinking "man so that's what it felt when conor knocked out aldo" just jaw hit the floor
😬
Conor was more espetacular, because the fight had a much bigger build up, with trash talking and all, and Conor ko'ed Aldo in a few seconds. Mad props to Topuria tho
Volk was game and ready ... Aldo was nervous and broken .....
Volk a Fighter coming off a loss recently ko'd compared to Aldo who was champ for 10yrs and fighting fit an was knocked out in 13 seconds after every other fighter in the division was knocked out. Nowhere near the same vibe. A good knock out for the Georgian, German Spanish fighter. The only people trying to compare him to Conor are the Spanish. He will never be Conor. Hell he's not even Spanish.
@Boss_Bettas he could potentially be bigger if the cards line up right he's already a much better fighter than conor the guy is world class in every aspect of mma he has potential to be legendary
Humility is going to take Ilia even further than Conor ever did
I hope so my friend
@@lionelrivera_MMA I believe Topuria should stop trying to be Conor. He can be confident but be more likeable, forge his own character and his own legacy
@@easy_eight2810 he isn’t like Conor bro, he’s very respectful at end of fights, he doesn’t mention money and is a pretty likeable person
it’s very interesting the way he comes off in english because when he speaks spanish as a spanish speaker myself it’s obvious he’s a very humble and genuine person
He needs to ko makachev, then he will achieve more than Conner
Who is here after Holloway beat justin
I want to see that fight
Ilia was about to poop his pnts
@@AlexanderKKolarovGo watch it!
@@User88709 falso
@@User88709 he already did before the fight 😂
While Ilia and Connor have some resemblance I don’t see him as a Connor Clone. He’s authentic and original
Indeed
He is a clone of every other foreign fighter who is boring and maybe a great fighter but to be a great champion, you need charisma. None of these lads but Connor have it. Rousey had it too. Its entertainment too
@@PATinPattayaThailandgo watch pro wrestling. This is the sport of fighting and the fighting comes first before the theatrics.
@@gitarooman2995Unfortunately, not when it comes to money it doesn’t. This is why a middle of the road fighter like Nate Diaz was always a much bigger draw than Demetrious Johnson, who is arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time.
With the roses, he’s also called “El Matador” and in Spain it is tradition to reward the bullfighters with flowers and roses after they defeat the bull.
Very true
Topuria is a prime example of when the young and hungry feeds on the older champion, Volkanovski will go down as a legend, but massive credit to Topuria.
Maybe one day we'll be saying the same for Topuria
Volk only lost cuz he came way to soon to fight, alex is still better
@@veeyan6882 Volk is not better, Topuria is ahead of him in every aspect
@@FM-xr5nj well we will see what happens when he fights Max🤷♂️he may win but Max is the best 145 pounder of all time. His list of wins and 12 years in a sport where it evolves so quick guys become obsolete in a few years Max has been at or near the top for 12 years. That Gaethje KO was epic but the five rounds previous were a clinic in striking and ring generalship. Of course wrestling is the equalizer. Ilia won’t stand in front of Max. Nooooo wayyyyh
@@FM-xr5njThey're forgetting Volk transitioned from Rugby. As far a time training Topuria has more skill in multiple disciplines of Martial Arts.
Nothing against Volk but unlike Islam and Topuria. He didn't dedicate his life from childhood to fighting.
Although it's impressive what he's been able to achieve despite less time training.
When he faces people like Topuria and Islam there is usually only one outcome.
This is arguably the best video about Ilia Topuria's career I've seen.
You really put an effort taking a lot of little-known old spanish videos about Ilia with a lot of rare quotes of him.
For those who do not speak Spanish, this is the best summary of his career that has been done.
Si y mejor que cualquiera que hayan hecho en español la verdad pero esta de puta madre para los guiris

De nada amigo!
Ilia had the perfect storm to capture the title, it’s like all his stars aligned! Volk coming off the headkick loss, hitting 35 and his inability to wait until he is healthy to fight just piled on perfectly.
A lot of love to Volk but I’m also happy that the division has some movement again, Ilia definitely put a breath of fresh air into featherweight, can’t wait to watch him fight again!

i was ilia's fan from the start and whole country was watching him fight and i knew it would've been a hard one for ilia and it would've been 5 round war but when he knocked him out in second round... it was very unexpected and whole country was celebrating first ever georgian UFC champion... it was truly something out of a movie... same happened in ireland when conor finished aldo... it was 7 in the morning and i felt like i was still sleeping and this was a dream cuz of how amazing ilia performed in that fight... i see ilia becoming double champ soon 🔥
Was waiting for this 🔥
And now it's here!😤

Great job
He's taking notes good job
Great video. You may not have realised, but you have inadvertently given us a clue how Alex got such knockout power. There is a scene at the end of the video where Alex is pounding, a sledgehammer on the rims of the tyres at his work. I believe that repeatedly, slamming a sledgehammer against steel tyres will give you an unusual and devastating knockout power .
"Blakada flauty mauty" gets me every time
the quality of this video is insane brother, the effort you put on this is like watching a netflix doc, i would like to see a jon jones similar video, thx for it !!

It was sad to see volk get knocked tf out but ilia is a legend in the making and i think he has great things to offer to the sport. You do an amazing job at covering the sport lionel, keep it up.

Agreed. I'm a huge Volk fan, so that loss hurts, but Ilia did everything he needed to do to ensure the victory and start his trajectory towards superstardom.
Totally changes my perception towards Topuria. One hell of a documentary bro.

Topuria’s hails out of where my family are from in Spain. Not a lot comes out of that city. Now he’s putting on for the whole country. Watching him KO the 🐐 early morning hours meant everything to me. Viva Topuria! Viva España
Viva los dos hermano
I remember a bunch of people saying "this dude is gonna kill Ryan Hall" and I was like, what?!! you really had to be a hardcore MMA fan to know Topuria back then, he was off the radar
💯
He even was favorite against him, so obviously many bet on Ryan
He’s a generational talent. featherweight champions have been some of the best fighters on earth (Volk, Jose, Conor, Max). I wish Ilia the best if he gets past Max he’ll probably retire with the belt or dominate for a long time.
Great vid brother
Ilia the goat

what's crazy about that podcast with jordy wild is that El matador said how easy the fight agains volk was gonna be and everyone thought he was delusional (myself included)
but a year later he did it...

Thanks brother. We don't have to but....can never be too sure
@@lionelrivera_MMA you clearly put too much work into these videos to risk limiting reach over something so trivial. I totally get it.
The amount of lore they managed to put it in the series is commendable. It's a great show on its own but if you've played the games then its just something else. Amazing show from start to finish.
Emmet is a very serious fighter.i was quite surprised how ilia finished him
This was epic. Now a new fan of Topuria (also Volk fan)

Ilia is imo the most complete 45er of all time I don’t think Max or Volk can beat him I think max is BMF but better at 55
Can't wait to see what illia's brother can do in the ufc
It'll be very interesting
Amazing documentary 👍. I didn't know much about Topuria. You gave some good information. I was rooting for Volk in the fight, but with what Topuria has shown, he has the tools to be one of the GOATS.
