Few MMA fighters in the UFC have reached the level of stardom as Paddy the Baddy Pimblett. The British - scouse UFC fighter came from Cage Warriors and entered the UFC with a lot of MMA fans behind him. During his time as a popular UFC lightweight, Paddy Pimblett has had 4 UFC fights, finishing his first 3 opponents in Luigi Venframini, Kazula Vargas, and Jordan Leavitt. But his hype and popularity came under fire after his controversial victory over Jared Gordon had many MMA fans turn away from his lack of humility. Now Paddy the Baddy Pimblett has been injured and out of professional mixed martial arts competition for several months, leaving UFC fans wondering how Patrick Pimblett will perform once he returns and faces elite UFC lightweights like Dustin Poirier, Islam Makhachev, Charles Oliveira, Michael Chandler, and Justin Gaethje.

His fights are typically pretty exciting, with the exception of his last one, so my primary issue with Paddy is his refusal to admit when he underperformed against Gordon. That, and he chews with his mouth open (just reached that part in the video, haha), but that's just my overall distaste for poor manners. The onus is on Paddy to prove he's not overhyped in future bouts. If he does that, he'll get his shine back. I do resonate with what he said about men's mental health after his fight with Leavitt, so he'll always have my respect for bringing that conversation to his audience.
I already disliked his personality but when he did the post fight presser, eating a fucking pizza and chewing with his mouth wide open, smacking that shit around, that solidified it. I became a certified Paddy hater, luckily ever since then he's done pretty much everything possible to ensure the rest of the MMA community hates him too.

I disagree the transition from Paddy Amaeture's days to his rise and possible downfall in ufc went along with the story in a captivating way that kept me engaged throughout the video. After watching this video I can say Paddy's delusional confidence is both his greatest strength and weakness. But at some point, we're all delusional in some way or form and based on Paddy's history after watching this video, he certainly knows how to bounce back.

@@sherlockholmez8764 a rear naked choke is quite literally the most dominant and effective submission you can get. Thats why it's the optimal choice to end a fight. Armbars are incredibly impressive but not practical in many situations. There's no situation where an elite fighter will avoid threatening a rear naked choke given the opportunity.

- getting fat off season
- not recognising his weaknesses
- the amount of energy he must use for entrances isn't going to work in his favour for 5 round fights.
- not guarding against punches to the head won't help longevity

Tom Aspinal had a similar attitude but since his knee injury, he seems a completely different fighter now. Hopefully paddy doesn't need an injury like that to have the same response

I really like the baddy and I don’t have a problem with his attitude but I wish he just did more to stay in the fight game. He is a hard man and has the ability to be a superstar. As long as he is happy that’s what is important to him and his family and I respect that.
My personal opinion being a lifelong mma fan... Is that Paddy is another one of these fighters that a bug organization sees dollarnsigns in, and bets the farm on. Only the UFC wins whether Paddy becomes a true star or not. He's another Sean Omalley, babied by the UFC and given the right fights to make him shine. His first real tuff fight he lost, yes the judges gave him the win...but that means nothing.
The fact that there are no fights on the horizon for him says it all.

I'm a fan of paddy. I do think he lost his last fight, but I am hopeful he saw where he could improve and can't wait to see his return in 2024.

I give him props for speaking out for men's mental health. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he and Molly keep getting fed mid-tier or younger fighters in front of their home crowd, and the UFC is expecting that home crowd advantage to eventually succeed and make them stars, since they keeps getting "cheered" all the time. He's good, but nowhere near the status he and the UFC think he is. If Dana and Hunter stopped protecting him and actually put him up against a top-10 lightweight, he is getting exposed
I can't wait for him to come back, get a 12-10 fighter, and get a 2 minute win in the UK and proclaim that he is back and ready for the elite

I really wouldn't be calling a Scouser a proud English boy. They basically have Irish and Welsh ancestry and don't see themselves as English at all. I was all good on the Paddy Wagon until the last interview where he said he won all 3 rounds. That's either pure delusion or someone who can't come to terms with people calling it as they saw it. Either way, I think he has some growing up to do in this sport to help him realize his own dream and become the champ, for good if that's in the cards.

It is unlikely that Paddy will ever be a contender, but I'm fine watching him fight aging gatekeepers like Jake Paul does in boxing.

The UFC is literally doing whatever they can to manufacture a star out of Paddy. He loses a fight but gets the decision win and then they feed Tony Ferguson to him when Ferguson has clearly fallen off massively. I really want him to be a legitimate champion but I don’t think it’s gonna happen

I was a 145/55 pounder walking around at 170. . I always trained heavy with heavy opponents. That way as I got closer to the match date I got lighter and stronger. By match day, I was bulldozing shots and walking through kicks from my opponents because I was so used to tossing around and taking shots from 250 lb training partners.

I thought his last fight with Gordon was pretty good and though close i thought he won. He didn't have a scratch on him after. Took little to no damage. When people say he got lit up in tje first it's kindof because of his hair. If you get a tap on the chin your long blond hair makes it look like you got hit way harder than you did. Gordon had lots of ground time in the 5th but hardly did anything with it. If anything paddy did more dmg off his back. I am just giving my 2 cents and being honest about it. Hard to lose a fight when you don't have a mark on you and the other guy is leaking all over the place.

I 100% disagree with you. But with the current state of paddy, I kind of like him now. After the Gordon fight, he took the humble way and became a bit likeable. Here's the thing, paddy didn't win that fight,you sound like a nice guy but paddy didn't win that buddy. He has time to improve, until then, how about cheering him up for top contenders.

I don’t understand how elbows and knees are legal to hit with. You can pad knuckles on hands but not elbows and knees. It should just be punches, kicks and wrestling. imo

And that's why you don't fight in the ufc. The pads are to protect your hand bones. The wraps to protect your wrists. Knees and elbows don't need protection. Do some research you twat
Padding on the knuckles doesn't protect the person you're punching from anything more than making cuts less likely, they actually mainly protect the delicate bones in the punchers hands from breaking while punching repeatedly with full force. They actually enable the fighters to punch harder, which is even worse in regards to concussive force as it's the head snapping around that causes neurological damage, this is why CTE is also a huge issue in football despite the massive helmets. In other words, padding on elbows and knees would make the situation worse, not better, and elbows and knees (if to the face) are mainly feared in fighting for their ability to cause soft tissue damage like cuts, greatly increasing the likelihood of a doctors stoppage, although you can absolutely still KO people with them.
