Ya, you have to already believe this is the best ADV helmet on the market.
The best thing about the TX5 is that you can now get a TX4 at a sensible price....£200 off retail for mine.

careful with their sizing, if you dont already know, they have a few different shell lengths, I was caught out by that.
Not in the states sadly. price is still high on the TX4's and the TX5's are all sold out.
After 6 years of X4 use and now wearing the X5 for months I'm safe to say it's worse in a couple of design features than the X4 (like noise, whistling visor, vertical field of view, etc)... Honestly I have no idea what they were thinking at Arai. Anyone torn between the two, get the X4 it's a much better deal.
@@Africatwinrider1 I don't miss any extra features on the X5. Still a pretty damn good helmet, but the X4 is better for half the price. After 60k kms my X4 is still on the first visor/pinlock and lining, still pretty comfy, so Arai is not just a name. ;)

Sunglasses didn't seem to fit nice. It's good enough for me, you can choose, so can I
@@Africatwinrider1 ls2mx701carbon was too tight for me and it's not glasses friendly at all. have i known that their shell comes long oval i wouldn't have ordered it, the peak is too bulgy too that it's hard fitting it inside a top box. glad it fits my wife's head and just removed the peak.
Nicely done video, always love Arai’s dedication to their craftsmanship. Might consider one of these over another Schuberth for my next lid!

Considered the X5, bought the ADF9000 instead and couldn't be happier with it. Better design with more features and half the price.
I have 3 Tour X-4, and my opinion regarding the "velco problem" with cheek pads, is the same.
Also, I would prefer the interior to be black. That way, when it's a bit dirt, and you don't have the opportunity to wash and wait for it to dry, would be less noticeable.
Just picked mine up in japan in the exact same colour.
Love it, i feel it's slightly louder than my tx3 and astral X though
Visor is also way better visually, no distortion compared to my tx3/xd4.
I'm interested in the chin curtain on your test helmet. I noticed it installed during some segments of the video, but absent during others. What spec is it?
I have the previous gen, it's been ideal for me.
So they won't fit a drop down visor due to safety, okay, what about the self tinting visor?
That's something that would be really helpful, did you bother asking Arai about that?
Arai have repeatedly refused to actually provide evidence for their safety claims.

Please Arai just supply a built in sun visor. I know old Mr Arai doesn’t want that as it’s a compromise… but the market demands it.
Yeah, the lazy weirdos... demanding a shoddy, clunky, hard to maintain built in sun visor when they could wear high quality sunglasses of their choice with much better vision and eye protection features like grown ups do.
@@Szlejer yeah people who like convenience and flexibility are odd huh? .... I'm sure they would love to watch you try to get your sunglasses out of your lid and put em back in again whilst riding at 70mph though 😂
The XD4 I wore for 50,000 miles did not need an internal sun visor. The peak was excellent at shading me from glare, it did a far better job than any internal sun visor I've used. It worked instantaneously and hands free. No need to change that. However, this new X5 does not do that as well as the XD4 did.

@MotoGoato Exactly. That's the point. Having instant access to a helmet switch that raises or lowers visor for changing light is better than fumbling putting sunglasses on or off when riding. A drop-down visor is a helpful, preventative tool when faced with dangerous light conditions that can cause an accident, whereas Arai implies the helmet integrity after you've come off (probably because you couldn't put glasses on or off in time to changing conditions)

You didn’t mention the new visor / pin lock which never worked on the X4 did you find it better on this new one ?

I'm returning my X5 after about 1000 miles of riding. The visor is faulty, it's getting badly stuck and twisted like it's not been engineered or designed well at all. The field of view is too tall and the peak doesn't do as good a job as the XD4 at shading low sun.
I wore the same size XD4 for 50,000 miles with no issues in regards to comfort. This thing gives me headaches on the left side of my head. Very surprised and disappointed. Hoping I can replace it with another XD4 before they all run out. Is it the ultimate all rounder? No. No it's not.

How annoying you need to change visors. With broken cloud days the safety advantage of inner sun visor to changing light conditions at flick of switch is fantastic.
but the space required for the dropdown shield weakens the brow area of the thing protecting your noggin. Same with modular style lids.
Arai sales marketing would lead you to believe that against their equally big competitors, shoei agv, nolan etc who ironically must also pass critical saftey tests. But your point raises the conundrum of whether you allow arai build strenth doubt to enter you mind or whether believe the advantage of a drop down sun visor is a better safety device. IE, wishing you wore or didn't wear a pair of sunglasses under your Arai when confronted with some horid light conditions.

doesn't fit me as good as my x4 seems to be less room at the front as in much closer to my mouth so sticking to my x4
Arai, PLEASE, MAKE A TRANSITIONS VISOR, no one wants to switch clear to dark, just single transitions IN the box, really, like a Klim Pro, id pay extra...

I've just tried it on my ride (TX5 Discovery what exactly he hold on his hand).
It is 2 times loudly than my old Schubert S2 Sport.
I bought it from another country so i cannot manage the returning process.
Disappointed! :((

I'm amazed that people are so quick to fall for marketing. The reason they don't fit a sun visor or integrated coms is that the helmets are hand made and adding these things would be virtually impossible in this manual process. Come on. Please think. Don't just be a good lemming and repeat their marketing buzzwords.
