Intel already have 20 y.o. tech that is x200 faster than anything 'modern'. Intel TeraHerz = 1000GHz tech. we use ~4-5GHz tech now. but deploying TeraHerz would mean anything current would lose value instantly, all fabs would become obsolete, fabs that make trillions dollars now. thats the reason why there's no progress. we are stuck on current tech because its not profitable to switch to a x200 faster tech from silicon. and that "x200 faster" number is 2 decades old. it can be way faster by now.

“They claim that their shoes are waterproof” sounds way less assuring than “the shoes are waterproof”
They did a bit before they were sponsored by Vessi about how most things that are called water proof are only water resistant. To be water proof they need to be able to be submerged in water indefinitely and not leak.
I have a pair of these shoes. You can definitely walk through puddles with them and not get your feet wet. You probably can't stand in puddles all day though.
The shoes were high quality and lasted longer than most shoes I wear. My main complaint is they don't come in half sizes. So mine were tighter than I would like and actually hurt to stay l wear until I really broke them in. And they obviously didn't breathe that well since they were "water proof".
I know linus has refused to claim waterproof and always said resistant so I guess vessi doesn't like that and the compromise was "they claim"
To be clear, the disagreement isn't whether or not Vessi shoes hold out water, it's semantics. Linus doesn't think anything is waterproof, because water can "erode through rock", and doesn't want them to use the word.
@@republicoftexas3261they seems like a cool shoe, so thanks for sharing your experience.
Have you ever heard of Kiziks? They’re another shoe company kinda using a gimmick to break into the market but they are FANTASTIC. They have a ton of shoe styles, but they all have a piece of plastic built in to the rear so they can be slipped on and off without folding. It’s an instant on instant off shoe with fully functional laces if you choose. They’re quite pricey but very very worthy of it
It's honestly a dumb argument bc that's not what proof means. It effectively means it's been shown to do a started task.
Remember when the whole thing behind the Pentium 4 was “we were going to push clock speeds to the moon”, but then Intel started running into transistor limitations and couldn’t even get out-of-the-box to 4Ghz and went back to the Pentium 3 to come out with Core and Core 2?
oh, boy, remember Intel TeraHerz? we've got Intel milking the market instead of making progress. because milking is way more profits
Intel TeraHerz is 2001. same year they've talked about 15nm. so when Intel decided what to release in 2010s they've chose 15nm, kek
The first Core architecture was derived from Pentium M. Pentium M was a hybrid, drawing from both Pentium Pro / Pentium III and Pentium 4.
Although, perhaps it is fair to say its from Pentium III almost entirely. Because most of the Pentium 4 features were stripped out of Pentium M to make Core, such as Hyperthreading, because they couldn't feed it data fast enough for that stuff to matter. Some of the Pentium 4 stuff was reintroduced with the first Core i series.
@@rightwingsafetysquad9872 Well, they solved that problem by stealing the on die memory controlled from AMD through extortion. The Pentium 4 debacle is exactly why I have NEVER owned an INTEL machine since my old Pentium 66. INTEL rarely innovates, they steal, and I would rather dance with the innovators instead of the thieves. I usually lose about 3-5% processing power and save 35% on cost for equivalent builds. I'm not bothered my games run at 170 FPS instead of 185 FPS.
@@liwojenkins intel sits on TeraHerz technology for 2 decades from 2001 when they've unveiled it. 1000GHz CPUs were possible to release in 2005. let that sink in.

I live in Australia. Most addresses can't get 100Mb/s down and the fastest speed a non enterprise customer can get is gigabit and that's only in select areas. My personal address has no cable available at all and has been planned for cable rollout for almost 5 years now.

I live in rural US. If it wasn't for Starlink I'd be stuck with 3 Mb/s, and that's only because I got lucky. Most people who live near me are stuck with 1.5 Mb/s. I got 3 Mb/s because there was a couple of months when they offered it here, it is no longer available for new service. Changing the definition of broadband isn't going to help people in our situation.

I lived with 0.4mbp/s down and 0.1mbp/s up for 17 years before another isp came into town and sweeped up literally everyone in town onto their network. (I live in some fields 😂)
Now we're getting about 250mbp/s. Hang in there y'all, better speeds will come. Eventually.
We called our old ISP "Crappy Link" instead of Century Link. Funnily, "century" is about how many years it took to load anything at all.

20mbps up needs to change, I am tired of internet companies offering 100/200/500/1000/3000 down, but all of them paired with only 20 up... it sucks.
Then you need fiber, cable isn't supported full duplex, doesn't have the bandwidth. Now, if an isp is offering 1000down/50up you could ask them if they are able to split it better say 500down/450up but chances are they won't unless it's a business account. Some isp are also just blatantly anti consumer and robbery.
Shit, mine is only 10Mbps. Spectrum is robbing its customers.
I have fiber at home, full duplex, my work is locked into spectrum.
And here is where I think it is criminal... The building owner when the building was built, signed an exclusive contract with spectrum... Due to this contract no one in the building can get internet that isn't specifically spectrum cable internet.

You guys missed the best part of the SpaceX launch! The rocket was so big that it tore a hole in the heated plasma large enough for radio signals whilst coming back down to earth, so for the first time we got live images of it going through that stage.
ELi5: Tore a hole in the heated plasma?
No it didn’t. It used starship terminals looking behind it.
with a smaller vehicle reentering the atmosphere, the plasma wraps back around it above the vehicle.
with larger vehicles like the space shuttle and this recent spacex launch, the plasma doesnt full enclose the vehicle in a "bubble" of plasma and there is a gap where radio transmissions can get through.
thats what happened there, it was talking to sats in orbit then the sats were talking to the ground, it wasnt directly talking with the ground.
@@guesswho2778 ^ this person is on the money :)
The most impressive thing about the latest Starship test is how long the video feed of the plasma buildup on the heat tiles lasted into atmospheric re-entry (thanks Starlink!).
That plasma shot was "grin inducing" 🤣👌🏻
If they want to report on the Starship, then use facts, the booster flew the ten minutes and slowed down from 7000km/h to 1000km/h before hitting the water. The Starship flew for about an hour reached 26000km/h before entering the atmosphere in a bad angle just northwest of Australia.
Tbf NASA has had similar ability through the tdrs satellites for quite a while. When the shuttle first launched they had a 30 minute comms blackout on reentry. After tdrs no blackout.
Not saying starlink isn't cool, just that this capacity wasn't something only enabled by starlink.
Starship was using tdrs as well as starlink, one of the first ways they knew they had lost the vehicle for sure was that they lost starlink and tdrs at the same time.

The law that bans TikTok is written in a way that allows banning of ANY app from a "foreign adversary". This is one of the most authoritarian laws in a long time in the USA, and yet the congress is bipartisan about this...
It's not authoritarian to limit influence of foreign adversaries, as of today there's only 6 countries on that list, none of which could be considered libertarian. It doesn't strip freedoms of nationals whatsoever.

My little town in Florida has hooked up two, count them two, giga-bit fiber Internet providers to every house. The price wars are entertaining!
I know that's unusual in NA, but local loop debundling meant that EU and places like NZ have dozens of ISPs offering services. Essentially every year you do a quick shop to see who will give you the best deal and switching is just a setting a date on a website and forgetting about it for another 12 months. Essentially, you can't both own the fiber infrastructure AND provide internet. So infra companies have an incentive to build out to as many places as possible and ISPs have an incentive to compete for the customers.
I'm eating a big bowl of quick bits as I watch this.
20Mbps up would be awesome. Even for me in a city I'm getting 500 down and 10 up and it's so annoying anytime I want to upload a large file it takes hours.

Regarding the CPU shortage bit: Ethereum going up is actually totally irrelevant. Yep. They were filming bro vs bro and used him for the intro
Im not even joking, I got an ad for intel before this video played
Me watching this on 4790K, 10 generations behind (3 in intel sense 😂).
I still use a 4790k too. Really for my money worth out of that build.
I still use an i5-4440 😅
@@republicoftexas3261 absolutely, mine is hooked up to 4090 and Samsung G9 (5120x1440-10bit-240hz) the perfect combo. I’m good for another 2 years. Intel better mention me once I hit 15 years lol.
Pay To Flop...??
Sounds like someone is moving in on the 'Hardware As A Service' model.
About the wording in the sponsor spot:
"extremely waterproof" doesn't make any sense, "waterproof" is a binary. Either something is waterproof or it isn't. So there is no scaling like 'very waterproof' or 'more waterproof'.
This is exactly why they should use the term "water resistent".
