I came across this channel by accident and watched a few videos with my morning coffee....great content and I learnt a few handy hints. I have a 1976 1412 and just purchased a 1212 as a second/spare tractor. We also have a fully running petrol Cropmaster as a garden display.

Very inspiring. I am rather envious & have just made a request to the head honcho (dear wife) for a barn in which to store my vintage tractors and restoration projects ...and a spray booth..car lift & and an enviable array of tools. We all know the request will be vetoed. :-) Alternatively I could move in with Steve! Failing that I shall continue to live vicariously through Steve's well produced and interesting videos. Keep it up please!

Thanks for the comments Julian, the solution in may case is a nice girlfriend and keeping up a LAT relation. Living Apart Together, that works perfect, lots of me-time and us-time... nicely split houses.... really the best relationship one can think off .. no approvals for tools and so on.. And always party time when we meet

I often find that replacement wings are so cheap that they are not worth repairing, the front panels do cost a bit more, but I well remember making a slatted grill for my Fergi 20, as soon as friends saw it they wanted one, so I ended up making them for a few years, that is the way these tidy up your tractor jobs go! Thanks for the comments, In this case its 600 euro for fenders , and they are not the square types. In fact it seems very difficult to get the square types and the cost of 600 euro is IMO to high... I will rebuild mine

In English the cheap bender, (but looked very expensive to me unless you made it), is called a brake. Or more exactly you would add its capacity, to say, it's a 2 ton brake, or 500lb brake. Makes it sound more scarey but in my shop we had a hand brake and a 2 ton brake that would bend 1/4" or 5.5mm steel.

Steve, I am enjoying your attention to detail, including the work involved with your on screen graphics, status ok. She is going to be one very smart tractor. One question I have, if you are going to fit hydraulic equipment to the front would it not be better to use the inside headlamp positions rather than replace the old outside ones? Just wondering.

I find a good way to straighten a flat panel is to clamp it between two bits of angle iron with g-clamps. For me it is faster than using a dolly and hammer and gives a better result.

Where do you buy the spare parts from? I bought my clutch from England. But power cables and emblems did not have that supplier.

The corners are the only thing you could use for the new bottom part to make it look Original..
Really enjoyed the video. Quick question: what about the inside of the bonnet? Did you paint it or treat the rust? I imagine that in the rain, some water might end up on the curves and screw holes and rusting it again. Cheers!
Very good question, yes that is to be treated with rust inhibiter and coated...

The ol 990 found herself a good home... what year is this one? they made them from 65 to 1980 I believe....

Yes, absolutely. If the price is right. Those are very strong tractors and easy to fix and overhaul

I have a 996 and two 880 selectamatics (one presently isn't running) and I would like to fix them up at some point. I watched your videos on hydraulics and admit that I am not completely clear on the hydraulics lol. Both my 996 and 880 have loaders. Recently the loader stopped working on my 880. I think the hydraulic pump is working as the lift arms are up but won't go down and the loader won't go up at all. I saw a video about cleaning the dump valves, which I did and it didn't help. Any suggestions? Thanks. Also, I am in Canada, could you please provide the links where you get your parts.

The ony thing I can say is to trace all the valves and make sure that the controls are aligned. If that is all good , then it should work
I have a 780 and need one of those badge for the front I'm told very hard to get.

I could, but that is treated with rust inhibitor after it was blast cleaned...

Why not put extra lights on, so you have four forward facing, two external and two in the original bonnet holes would that cause a problem 🤷♂️
