I'm so glad you appreciate Jimmy! There are so many fantastic songs from him. Some of my favourites are Struggling Man, Sitting in Limbo, Hard Road to Travel, Wonderful world, beautiful people and of course Vietnam, (named by Dylan as the best protest song of the 60s). Love my Jimmy!!! Thank you!

Got to love Jimmy Cliff, so many great songs in his discography like, Wonderful Word Beautiful People, You Can Get It If You Really Want, and the song that in my opinion best showcases his voice is Many Rivers To Cross

Love the film, love the song. The film and soundtrack were a real breakthrough bringing Jamaican culture to the world. There had been hits such as Millie's My Boy Lollipop and Desmond Dekker's Israelites and some others in the late sixties and the film and Jimmy's music along with Ken Boothe and Bob and Marcia in the early seventies led on to Bob Marley and reggae really
gaining a strong foothold in mainstream culture and influencing many bands such as The Police, UB40 and many others here in the UK. Nice to see you react to this one and hope for some more reggae along the way.

Just Love reggae style music ! 😊 Only heard of Many Rivers to Cross from Jimmy Cliff .The Reggae/pop sound was popular in the 80,s in the UK .👌 This song has a strong message to it delivered in that distinct feel good reggae beat ! Which as you rightly said Shawn here ! Nice choice Anna 👌

The political/economic situation in Jamaica, at this time wasn’t great and that really added a lot to the rise reggae music. The combination of poverty and Rastafarianism (including it’s affiliation with ganja) led to very powerful outpouring of good music! Jimmy Cliff , I guess, had the first reggae song to make it big, internationally, but he was soon followed by Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Shawn, Yes, I agree with you that this is a nice pleasant song. It has meaningful lyrics. The lyrics are hard hitting but to the point. You explain what the song is saying accurately. There is wisdom in your comments.Your rating of 8.0 indicates you like this song a lot. It is a solid song.
