I saw a screening of 'The harder they come' at the cinema recently and the soundtrack was brilliant in the theatre.

This song is from a movie The Harder They Come starring Jimmy Cliff. The Soundtrack album is great and it was my introduction to reggae in the 1970s. Toots and the Maytals were on the album and in the movie too.

Jimmy also did a cover of The Clash 'Guns of Brixton' where they mention his character 'Ivan' in the film.
His voice is so good and his cover of 'A Hard Rain's a Gonna Fall' is also worth checking out.

Wonderful World Beautiful People was a brilliant album. It had so many great songs on it. Jimmy Cliff was a reggae superstar back then, second only to Bob Marley and maybe Peter Tosh.

So many homeless folk just don't want help unless they ask. Nice to still ask though as you never know. Amazing record and singer. His voice is still great. Sad to hear Janis Ian had accident with her throat and she's lost the pitch and tone in her voice. You're right about the gospel like tinge which is so common in Reggae songs.
