- In this video we're listening to Jimmy Cliff, accompanied by Sounds Of Blackness. We always liked Jimmy's sound, and we know very little about Sounds Of Blackness. This should be interesting for us. Enjoy!

Jimmy had such a powerful yet sweet voice!
I know this song from the harder to come soundtrack. An amazing collection of early '70s reggae.
What a great voice
Not heard this version before as I'm used to the studio version I have on vinyl but it was fantastic with the choir and Jimmy's voice live is sensational. Great pick Haniers, thank you.
I also like the version of this song, sung in church by UB 40.
My favorite is Jimmy Cliff songs are "Sitting in limbo." and "Vietnam."
Ta for playing that and glad you enjoyed it. I hadn't heard this version before. You might like Jackie Opel from 1965 doing "Cry Me A River". There should be a clean digital version that doesn't crackle on CZcams.
This is wonderful
Cheers for that, I thought you might enjoy it! I've always thought it was magical.
It comes from an extremely short lived UK TV music show, called The White Room The guy you cut out is Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio dj and producer, he still has a radio show that's worth a listen on 6Music.
I wonder if its the Annie Lennox version you might have heard? It seems to have been a pretty big hit in Canada, though literally a million people have covered it.
The mark and lard show on the radio back in the day was hilarious!

Yeah, they did some good stuff
Marc Riley's show has a 6Music show that's excellent, Mark Radcliffe's is a bit more pedestrian these days, but he still plays some good things.
I never saw that show. I'll maybe be able to find bits on here.
@@SPKdesign1 it ran for about a year I think, and I think it was Channel 4, I only really remember the pilot, which I'm sure this Jimmy Cliff performance was from. It might have had celebrity hosts, I seem to remember Damon Albarn as one.
@@Sandy-dd4le Ta for the info.
UB40 do an excellent cover of this 👌.
Apparently there are several covers of this song.
Omg Sia did a cover to this at Live at Shining a Light concert... how do you get a song on here, you two are fun😊😊😊
Just ask for a song here on the comments. We try to read all of them. We have a huge list of suggestions, almost all of them from our comments section.
