He said afterwards that it was the first time after the pandemic that he performed in front of an audience again and how much he missed it as an artist (thats why he was so moved during the performance). So it was an easy decision for him to hop on the show.

it was his first live performance after covid
When he got Covid, he got a steroid treatment and his voice was affected by it. I think he’s emotional because it’s his 1st performance since he got sick and he didn’t know if he would perform again.

I have to agree with you in some aspects except I think Jimmy’s voice is a tiny bit higher pitched than Michael’s is but not much. Michael’s voice has this crispy element to it that Jimmy’s voice slightly lacks. But Jimmy still has a really good singing voice. I was pleasantly surprised when he started singing. I loved it.
James Blunt is out of this world. IT wasn't a prank. IT was a outstanding performance. You can hear IT in the moment When everyone stopped clapping. He had that kind of silence that you could hear a pin dropped in the audience... And you can see IT on the judges faces When James was singing.... And for that brief moment that studio was magically transformed in a Concert hall....
He gets made fun of a lot for his songs but there's no denying he's an unbelievable talent. And has a great sense of humour!!

I honestly don't know how people write songs about heartbreak either. All it does is immortalise the pain. You'll never forget it, never let go. I thought about it but you can't devote so much time and emotion to something hurtful as it just keeps giving it more life. You have to totally close that chapter however long it takes.

I looked her up. Seems like she goes through producers and record companies quickly all due to "disagreements". Great singer but maybe a little difficult.
@@txlivin7819 It's also possible that she's less willing than others to compromise artistically. I've heard of artists who are apparently complete jerks that haven't been dropped by their record companies, so unless she's REAAAALLLY difficult I would reckon it's more the former than the latter.

Hate to break it to you, but that was Jimmy Fallon doing his (quite famous) impression of Michael McDonald. It wasn't his natural voice. His 'natural' voice is actually better.
He, Jack Black, and Paul Rudd do send ups of musical groups together quite often. They can all legitimately sing. 😊
