Jimmy Cliff was my introduction to reggae. When I was 14 or 15, I saw his movie, and I got three of his CDs... The Harder They Come soundtrack, "Reggae Man", and his Live record from the 70's. I played those over and over... Bob Marley only came later for me. But it was Jimmy Cliff that brought me to reggae!
Jimmy Cliff! He did several great songs for that movie. Would be great if you could post that gig - I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to hear it. Thanks for everything you do Michael!!!
My buddies and I cover the JGB version every week at practice. It’s one of our faves, it’s an absolute jam! Glad to hear your take on it, good luck at gig Michael!
Bro. Im so glad you made it dude. I have been watching you since like, less that 100k subscribers. You deserve all the attention you're getting and you make me a better guitar player with every video! Thank you for what you do for the guitar world. Rick Beato said that they're were no more guitar heroes, and he was wrong my friend. He missed you!
This would make a perfect medley with "I Second That Emotion". I'm sure it's already been down. JG did both of course, but I don't know if he aver did it as a medley.
Very nice! I thought about trying this song for a minute once years ago but got discouraged and left it. Have you ever checked out the Dead Milkmen? They’re generally lyric focused and satirical but a few songs where the guitar shines imo: Smokin’ Banana Peels [Beelzebubba] The Badger Song [Bucky Fellini]
I'd like to hear your reaction to Ted Greene Danny Boy. He's such a unique and genius player. The ultimate in playing chords and solo'ing at the same time
Love your content, Michael. And your style. Your noodling is better than me at my full effort so don’t be sorry. Maybe get a noodle button setup beside your computer with a graphic or something lol.
I love your vids man. If you EVER did even just a reaction to Public Image Limited - Ease (don't even try), one of Steve Vai's greatest solos EVER... that would be something else. And hey, if you can pull off even 1/4 of it.. KUDOS. But I'd be happy with just a reaction :)
Hey! Nice vid, can you react to mikes songs by phish from the slip stitch and pass live album specifically since there is some really cool licks by Trey especially in the beginning
Micheal, i'm not sure if you've ever done this, i would love a break-down of Scott Henderson's Dolemite if you have not. Enlighten me if you have. Thanks.
And as for JG's interpretation of "The Harder They Come" - it's really not fair to compare ANYONE else's version of "The Harder They Come" to Jimmy's. There's really only one - just as it is with anything Jimmy does.
Cliff's whole woodstock set is incredible. i come back to it often

Thanks for the review! And nice playin’!!!

MP You are awesome!!!
There is an old movie by the same name that was a bit cheesy but gave a sad insight to the life of those reggae musicians had in poor Jamaica
He was still doing the splits when I saw him 10 years later aged 65!
Can't wait to watch! Just curious what happened to the To Pimp A Butterfly album reaction?
Blocked and removed :(. If you're a gg member it should be up on the website to watch

Michael . . . we would just spend a month cycling through all of Jimmy's songs

Rancid does a solid cover of this song. True to the Jimmy Cliff version.
Jerry Garcia’s version was way groovier. It’s the first time that I’m hearing this version is lightning fast and gets you moving. I love it.
yeah the tempo is great.

Hi Michael! Can you check out Marcin's version of Eric Clapton - Layla? It's really impressive!
Hey Michael! Please react to Alex Hutchings if you haven't already
Inspiration? Move me brightly!
Jimmy Cliff was not on the Woodstock 94 or 99 album strangely enough.

Paco de Lucía the best
